I remember thinking I was not going to be the slightest bit embarrassed about going into public when my symptoms were showing. Then I got symptoms. Nothing like walking around a store looking like a angry drunk person. But I’ll probably quit drinking before I go to the store after the new year, so that might clear up on its own.
That has probably been one of the most frustrating symptoms for my wife more than myself as in our early days we could communicate with just certain looks and expressions but now I have that PD stare, it makes me look emotionless and disconnected to the world.
Self conscious since childhood. Family and friends made comments about my pupils being so huge /dilated and times when I looked wide eyed. My eyes look strange in selfies. Sometimes my right eye wanders. Sunglasses whenever I leave the house.
@ Thanks. This is AI enhanced. Facebook and instagram have me wearing sunglasses. Also, my sons say I stare at people when I’m actually just staring into space.
Thanks for your transparency, my friend! Hey, I may have asked you this before, but how long after your diagnosis did it take for you to notice your legs giving you issues? And how long did it take after beginning Carbidopa / Levodopa before you noticed distinct on and off cycles?
Thx, for the questions! After about a year, I noticed my walk was becoming a bit wonky. It started with a cramp in my backside that just wouldn’t loosen up. (insert joke here!) It was about the same time that I started having distinct on/off problems.
@@JeremyMcdonald thanks, I know everyone is a bit different, but I have just begun noticing what feels like a tremor in my left knee and I feel very unstable when I squat down. Talked to the MDS on Friday (I had to jump off of your live stream) and they asked me about on and off times. I have not really noticed that yet but I figure it’s likely coming. She reminded me that everyone is different and some aren’t as susceptible to swings.

My man! Hope you’re having a great holiday season!

I feel your frustration! Too often I find myself staring blankly at people. I have started not making eye contact as much. Sad.
Thank you for sharing this. I can relate. 👍
Thanks for watching, Roger!

I’m with you, Karen! For what it’s worth, I think you look great!

@@adawehi55 Gotcha. I find that my eyes move slower.
To a great extent I think we are more self conscious of our symptoms. The masking is the only thing that often confuses people. ✌🏼❤️3️⃣0️⃣5️⃣
I agree. I might actually be smiling inside, however my face shows nothing but a blank look.
It was one of the first things I noticed. I call them my dead eyes because they appear so listless.
Well, that was quick.
A rolling stone gathers no moss!😁
👍

I've been told that I look like I've had a stroke( one side of my face droops ) when my tablets have worn off 😂
That’s got to be embarrassing! Thx for your honesty ✌️❤️
