There's so much contradictory and wrong information even on respected legitimate websites it's really no surprise doctors are often wrong, or not up to date on the latest research. Everyone has to be a good self-advocate and hopefully be able to do their own research, and on top of that convince the doctor to listen which can be really difficult. And due to long waits it's not easy to just keep switching doctors until you find a really good one. I guess we need recommendations. But your doctor doesn't sound too bad because she's just repeating what she read on some respected website or learned in medical school.

I had ear surgery last year. The anesthesiologist asked about my tremors. Told him I had Parkinson’s. He asked if I was on any meds. Thankfully, I wasn’t yet because he said he would’ve had to change the anesthesia.

I've lost my routine since I've had my puppy. I would workout, do my Red Light Therapy, play some piano, and get in some sauna time. It's all gone to the wayside. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on track soon. He just demands so much attention and when I get home from work, I feel like I need to cater to him. This is the reason I'm thinking about going part time, I just need more personal time during the day to really accomplish all the things I want to before I get wiped out.

U have to control it and not let it control you. Find your happy place for the day. Day by day. No long term worries. Just deal with the day at hand. Make it a good day by knowing what you need to control and limit the effects you feel for today. Tomorrow will bring new surprises for the day. Deal with it and win over it. If this includes sleeping most of the day, then listen to your body and do so. The next day you will benefit . So bottom line my brother. Day by day. No long term drama. Live today !! One last note i been finding listening to music with headphones at night 2 am results with a better day the next day. Only works at night time. Give it a try .

Question: if I have a lot of physical labor to do I start off good, but tire quickly. I push through and continue. Day two of labor I start off slow and it gets worse but I push through slowly. Day 3 I can barely do anything and no matter how much something needs to be done, I don’t care and it has to wait. I interpret this as fatigue and wonder if this is normal for people with PD? Another question: If I am expending a lot of energy doing something I swear my medicine wears off quicker. Am I draining my dopamine battery? I would ask my neurologist but she seems to just think I am a crazy stupid person when I ask a question.

Hi Jay, I wanted to add that the diagnosis IS better than wondering “what’s wrong with me?” I was referred to an MDS that also happened to be a neurologist. Ohhh yeah! One and done…anyway, as we navigate this new segment of life, I can look back and say for sure “ yep, that was Parkinson’s !!! I also would recommend looking at the diet as there are definite ways to help out the inflammation that can contribute to the effects of PD. I have entered the world of “no gluten”. It sucks not only not being able to do the things we used to, but to eat the way we used to as well. There may be a chicken and egg thing going on here… anyone in Texas can contact me through you if they would like a recommendation to a great functional medicine MD. I highly recommend this as a a way to combat some of the effects of this disease. Be nice to Naomi and we’ll talk at you later…

NO SUCH LUCK: Today, I received the neuro's diagnosis of my various, and troubling, neurological expressions. To no avail, I have struggled to avoid being diagnosed with Parkinson's. The rate at which Parkinson's various expressions have thrust themselves into my world is of concern, and has deceptively led me to believe they are being caused by some other problem. No such luck. So now I have to move forward in pursuit of circumstances that will ameliorate the disease's expressions. I will pray for the wisdom and the courage to determinately face this beast and all of its fury with grace and gratitude for the blessing of being awkwardly vertical rather than permanently horizontal.

Old age or Parkinson's is a good game I've played since the beginning of my diagnosis. Harder to tell when you're 64. I've read that if your main symptom is hand tremors you're less likely to have cognitive problems which leads me to something I've wondered about. Trying not to be political here I'm just making an observation. I've noticed the blank face, the falls, the freezing in place the situational confusion in Joe Biden. Old age or Parkinson's? He is 81. Either way it isn't good. I have a friend who is 102. Mind sharp as a tack. Frail but lives on her own. Still drives, wish she wouldn't. Life is such a crap shoot.

Hey JayMac. Absolutely think about my memory daily wonder of its old age or Parkinson’s. Quick example. Went out to my car to pick up some notes I had. Saw a hat I needed for golf. Grabbed the hat and forgot the notes. Stuff like this is happening more often. That’s just one small example.

I just chalk it up to normal aging. If not, what can you really do?

I Passed my cognitive test last week. Having brain fog today. Can’t focus. I used to read-a lot! I can’t remember the last book I actually finished. That could be a new goal. Short book. Maybe.

Several years ago, I couldn’t sleep the night before my annual physical, and I did poorly on the test. The nurse practitioner told me so. There are different types of cognitive assessments. Some are more in depth than others. By the way, I changed doctors.

Exhaustion will fry your memory. I think it’s probably that and stress.

I swear my eyes feel like they cross when my brain shortcuts 😅. As far as age or PD, who knows. The long I stay alive the longer I have PD. Both are progressive 🤷‍♀️

i walk my dog every day ... 🙂 also I have been toying with the idea of whole plant food .diet .. low or no sugar/oil etc ... one lady nutritionist researcher says it slows down pd progression and lessens pd symptoms .for many according to her studies ... your thoughts?.. this link is unrelated but fun ... the longer we live the closer we may be to a cure ...at present we can't cure pd but we can control what we eat and how much we exercise .... th-cam.com/video/RGy3jhiPqD0/w-d-xo.html

Yes do research PD patients are like snowflakes no two are alike But this I know MY MIND IS BIGGER THAN THAN BRAIN I found my mind controls my brain like it controls my Limbs God created us like that Where will you allow your mind ( thoughts will attitude imagination emotions etc) to go ? It’s bigger than your brain Meds help the brain but mind is the overcomer When my limbs misbehave I look at it I say behave and learn to relax the source of the movement Eg tremors in hands can often be due to tightening and gardening of shoulder Neck muscles
