Did you try to graph more than 4 PDI's at the same time? If not can you try? My launch mini pro to x431 can do at least 6 to 8 if I remember correctly, I just scroll to the next window to see the others , similar software too.
Hi, first thank you for the review it's presented very clearly and thorough. The 689BT is really impressive tool on it's price range and I'm on it. What I didn't see is the abilty to reprogram or coding sub systems in the powertrain incase of replacments: such as Transmission, Dual clatch, Injectors, Turbo, Throttle, EGR, sensors (CKP,CMP and others..) etc. Is it possible? Thank you
You're welcome! Ah yes the scanner does have coding and learning capabilities. They are accessible via the diagnosis module or the maintenance module (feel free to jump to the section you want to see using the video chapters). Just keep in mind that being able to activate a learn or code a specific component varies from vehicle to vehicle. Thinkdiag does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access the specific function you need. Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun Thank you for your answer, yes I know it and I'm quite curious to see the capabilities of this scanner and the differences between the different vehicles, I ordered it and I'm waiting.
Thank you! Ah unfortunately I have not tested the D8W so I can't comment on how it's performance or how it compares to the 689BT. I will see if we can add it to the list of to review (list is getting longer by the day! LOL) Cheers!
Thanks for the video. Can you check if this scanner has the capability to register main battery and auxiliary battery for a 2017 Bmw x5? Autel Scanners have that option but trying to get away from annual fees for updates. Thanks
You're welcome B! Ah yes the scanner does support access to the BMS, just remember that actually being able to activate a register or learn component varies from vehicle to vehicle (I can't check without connecting the scanner to the actual vehicle that needs the programming). Thinkcar does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access the specific function you need. Cheers!
Great review! I'm looking of getting a scanner and this Thinkscan looks really nice I'm also looking at the LAUNCH X431 PRO Elite, FOXWELL NT809TS and the Autel MaxiCOM MK808BT. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you S! Ah unfortunately I have not reviewed the scanners you mentioned so I can't speak on their performance or how they compare to the 689BT. I will see if we can add them to the list of scanners to review (list is getting longer by the day! LOL) In the mean time, the X431 is a very capable scanner and will likely have more addons available for it and if you need OBD support this one does have it th-cam.com/video/9qwJlUEWN9A/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Hi S! It's going to come down to what the scanner will be used for and what vehicle(s) it will be connected to (basically which communication protocols are needed, specially important if you need CAN-FD or DOIP support). So I would start by checking to see if your vehicle(s) are on the list of supported vehicles, then checking if the function you need is supported by the scanner. Then I would consider any special features like, AutoAuth SGW, free updates or subscription based, what addons are supported, if you need OBD support and and finally you would want to consider price etc. Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFunGood advice. Thank you. I’m a DIY guy that wants a good all around scanner that will allow me to troubleshoot and repair. @@AlexAutoFun thanks for the info. I bought this scanner after I watched your video. Because you make a clear view of it. Some say it's not worth the money. Hello, Am an autoelectrician I want to know more about this diagnostic machine, once I used autel maxisys ms906 . So I want the best machine for my work, is it better than I used or do you have the better one which is compatible with all types of cars and no licence required?
Hi J! It's going to come down to what the scanner will be used for and what vehicles it will be connected to (basically which communication protocols are needed, specially important if you need CAN-FD or DOIP support). Cheers!
Hi J! Ah that can be tricky. If the mileage has been modified, it may have been modified in multiple places making detection difficult if not impossible in some cases. However yes on some vehicles where the mileage is stored in several places, and not all of them were updated, that discrepancy could lead a mechanic to suspect something is off (but again unfortunately if there are several mismatching numbers, the real number may be unknown). There are also other ways to determine if a ECU has been manipulated, they are more complicated and require specialized software but they usually only reflect that a change was made but not what the change was. Cheers!
Hi Richard! Ah yes while the scanner support IMMO access being able to add a key will depend on how many keys you have, if your car requires a new pin code, if you are adding a new key fob or a used one etc. In some cases a dedicated IMMO tool will also be needed if you are trying to re-use a previously assigned key fob where you need to make it "virgin" again using the dedicated IMMO tool, or if you are trying to clone a key outside of the vehicle (and other locksmith level functions). Thinkcar does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to perform the function you need. Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun I looked at Thinkcart for the 689Bt version and it doesn't support adding the key to any car brand when it comes to coverage.
