The sad part is fandoms are where fans of common things get to come together to discuss and enjoy these things together. But with Star Wars, the less I interact with the fandom, the more I enjoy being a fan.
facts, I go onto youtube after i watch something starwars, and all i see is "why the show is bad". all they do is show normal scenes of characters, and then pretend to be outraged.
Same. The new shows are amazing. These people don't even try to watch or understand the theme or the story. They just conditioned themselves to hate it and that's what they're trying to do. They sit there to find a scene they don't like ''hurr this stormtrooper took 1 step too much'' ''hurr plott'' because they can't get themselves to allow these new shows to have the benefit of the doubt of being fiction like they do with the OT. If you sit and try to find something to hate, either it be some narrative decision to help the protagonists or a small logical mistake then you will find issues with every movie, show, cartoon whatever out there. If the OT came out today they would shit on it more than the current ones due to all of its problems. Remember all the flack Obi Wan got because the lightsaber bounced off something? It did so in the OT too. The hyprocrisy.
The Internet fandom is where it’s the absolute worst. However as one who has attended two Star Wars Celebrations, it’s a whole lot different when you actually see real life people celebrating and coming together in shared passions.
I generally avoid Star Wars opinions on the internet and keep those for real life conversations. Hate-watching the franchise seems to get more ad revenue, hard to tell genuine opinions on anymore.
Yeah, they're whiney bitches. I did not like Episodes 8 and 9 from the main saga, but I just kinda dealt with it in my head canon and moved on to other star wars movies and shows that I like, and I've liked more than I've disliked so far. They over exaggerate and everything is a "world ending problem." They're afraid of lore and canon growing and so things are immediately a "loophole" or "breaks canon" but you really just find out these fans are terribly uncreative and unimaginative and blame the writers because they can't perceive how it works or aren't willing to accept that it does.
@@GhostwalkerSparrow no man, don’t think about it. Just consume product and then get excited for the next product. That’s all these NPCs need to feel satisfied.
I remember Star Wars hate from the 90s even before the prequels. It’s been a problem for a long time. You see, SW fans love the IDEA of Star Wars, but they hate the actual execution of that idea.
SW plot of the original 3 episodes looks like written by a 8yo kid who just ate too much sugar. It is insanly childish. If any adult thinks these are the best movies ever made, then he is not the sharpest pencil around to begin with...
@@noldo3837 movies are far more than plot. A great movie can have huge plot holes but if the pacing, characters, score, sound effects, etc distract the audience enough then viewers won’t question it. At least not in the first viewing. I wouldn’t say the OT is three of the greatest movies of all time. I’d say it’s two of the greatest movies of all time and a muppet movie with a cool space battle.
The reason why people end up hating these properties so passionately is because they base their whole identity and happiness on them. People's psychological well being should never be tied to the latest entertainment product.
Or maybe, just maybe they are tired of getting shit movies and TV shows over and over and over, after a while, you get fed up. Also, if "because they base their whole identity and happiness on them" is true, what does that say of people defending this shit ? Why do you and this channel care what others think ? You are not a Star wars fan, i mean they all are Toxic.......
That’s also true for the toxic positivity of the Star Wars fanbase. People get mad that others criticized the most recent Star Wars product because they identify themselves with Star Wars. So when someone criticizes it, they take it as a personal attack upon them.
Exactly. For one there is no franchise or property that exist that every movie or television show is a home run. That would be like a sports fan expecting his team to go undefeated every year and win the championship every year and if they don’t they’re going to hate that sports team for the rest of their life. You are correct I think just small vocal minority besides not having anything else to be happy about in life whether it’s Star Wars or DC comics or Marvel or whatever, their entire life is based around one of these properties and that’s not really healthy at all. And yeah I love Star Wars, I love Ghostbusters, I love DC comics, but just because there’s a bad episode or a bad movie does not mean someone went back in time in inappropriately touched my childhood and that actors need to get death threats or have racist messages sent to them online. Fans like that are people that really truly have no life outside of the franchise that they have made a God in their life.
I agree I remember the Clone Wars got hate too during its early days. People getting mad about Ahsoka. Saying she’s an annoying and blah blah, then fast forward a few years, people now love her.
love her, the series AND THEN be toxic about it. God help me if clone wars fans are not the most elitist entitled bastards on the internet, they literally compare everything to clone wars and jerks filoni off like he's a saint even though clone wars has some flaws that people seem to ignore. Wish i can hex star wars fans with eternal itch inside their rectum
Yeah hypocrisy is real. They hated the force awakens cause it was just a copy of A New Hope and hated Kylo Ren for being a whiny baby.....and now they all love it cause they hate the second and third sequel movies.
Except Ahsoka was literally written to be hated at first. She was made to be a bratty kid talking down to these characters we’ve loved for so long and giving them dumb nicknames. And then she experiences the reality of the war and matures real fast, which is why people love her now. Its not a hypocrisy thing, Ahsoka was written to get that type of reaction and development.
So true!! I keep seeing in my TH-cam recommendations videos saying that "everthing from Disney Star Wars is awful!! It's a insult to George Lucas and the fans!!" Really?!? Everthing since Disney acquired Star Wars sucks? They can't see one good thing from all the movies or TV shows? It's almost like half the fanbase has given in to hate and has fallen to the dark side.
This is so accurate lol, it's like the star wars fandom is having a real life sith-jedi war, but fuck it im on the Jedi side now, I'm not gonna bind my opinions to these losers assumptions on everything. The sequel trilogy had cringey moments but I personally think it was good, I don't care anymore lol
I haven't liked anything Disney star wars related. I gave it a chance but it was just boring weird. I don't even like star wars to begin with, my friends just told me to watch it.
it is so crazy to see the internet just collectively switch opinions on certain movies I started following internet movie culture in part thanks to this channel back in 2015. I remember when Star Wars 7 came out, it was literally treated like the second coming of Christ. and then before last jedi came out, it was suddenly the worst movie ever And the weirdest is with the andrew garfield spidey movies. 5 years ago those movies were considered bottom of the barrel for comic book movies and at the time, my opinions were easily swayed by the internet. I still kind of liked TASM 2 as it is a really nostalgic movie for me. then when no way home released, andrew garfield movies were treated like they were amazing (how did that happen??)
Hivemind. One guy screams this is bad, and the silent audience jumps on the notion, when the hivemind stays dormant for a few years, another guy screams this is good. So many movies were shat upon when they released, now they're considered cult classics. Stars Wars Prequels, Starship Troopers are great examples
I don't remember ever hating TASM, but I did found it boring when compared to Sam Riami films. The only thing I truly loved about them was Time Square scene with the Electro and more importantly, I loved his theme song.
@@aimanghazi7043 "So many movies were shat upon when they released, now they're considered cult classics. Stars Wars Prequels" I like some evidence of that, 2 people on a random board are not "Hivemind"
It’s funny how people don’t realize that this cycle has been going on forever and will continue to happen. In 10 years everyone is going to collectively say the sequels were misunderstood and they will become beloved just like the prequels
Wrong, the prequels are shit, they are simply better when compared to the Sequels. Also, i find it hard to believe that suddenly a overwhelming number of fans like the prequels. So in order for the Sequels to be liked more, there needs to be another Trilogy thats even shittier. And even for Disney, thats a tall order.
@@Ixiah27 The prequels aren't shit, there fucking amazing! They added so much to the Star Wars lore and perfectly summed up the rise of the Empire and Darth Vader. WTF is wrong with some Star Wars fans? The saying really is true, no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. 🤦♂️
Because they naively think that a new film or TV show in the franchise they grew up loving is going to make them as excited and enthralled as when they were kids. It’s a like a 40-year-old expecting their birthday or Christmas to be just as awesome as when they were kids. It’s never going to happen. They do nothing but set themselves up for disappointment with astronomical expectations that can never possibly be met, and they can never realize the thing to do is just move on and find something else to be interested in.
@@Clipzilla42 Because they keep watching whatever new things come out. The same people who keep complaining about Star Wars don’t seem to be able to find anything else to be interested in.
@@Clipzilla42 Why would you bother watching something that you expect to be bad? If you don’t like anything they produce, you would logically have no interest in whatever else they come out with. But that’s not the case. You keep watching what they produce and find fault in everything. You keep hoping something new will come along that you like, but it never comes, and you lack the ability to move on from the franchise.
@@Clipzilla42 People love endlessly bitching about things they’ll never like, no matter who the writer is. Nothing will satisfy them, because their standard for enjoyment is recreating the childhood experience, as I previously described. These are the people, many of whom as children loved the prequel films, while adult fans tore those movies to absolute shreds for the bad writing, bad acting and everything that failed to live up to their childhood experience of loving the original trilogy. So this isn’t new. It’s been happening since 1999.
I think it has something to do with these anti SJW channels, like nerderotic or geeks and gamers, and how they always promote negative perspectives to Disney Star Wars projects, dismissing everything they make as "woke" or "trash" (even when sometimes the project says otherwise) and how most kids are completely devoid of having their own personal opinion, and just get carried around and believe everything those types of channels say.
Thank you! Lately my TH-cam suggestion is flooded with people hating on Kenobi for the littlest things. Makes me question whether there are any sane people out there. - “This show sucks!” Dude, it’s only the first and second episode! - “Bait and switch!” Where?!!! - Ewan shows his support for Moses Ingram. “Star Wars is calling EVERYONE racist!”
I saw a video where a "former network executive" slammed Ewan for it and i had to say "Dude its a co-worker, you'd do the same, regardless of it being Disney or not!"
There's more star wars now that Disney own it so you think fans would be happy but no toxic fans complain a complain and there supposed to be fans but all they do is hate on everything lol
Unfortunately a group of TH-camrs have found that over-the-top hatred brings in viewers. It's all about making money. Their content is basically a cesspool breeding ground for toxic fans. And toxic fans are the ones that normal people see the most. They're bringing us all down and they don't care.

As a Star Wars fan I have noticed the reason why some fans dislike anything Disney does with Star Wars is because it's not George Lucas making the product and they feel like all Disney does is disrespect everything George Lucas has done. Also theres political reasons why some fans dislike everything Disney does with Star Wars. All I care about as a fan is if I like the product and if it goes against lore. So far I have really liked Kenobi and most of current Star Wars.
Nothing that you’re saying is true tho. Most Star war fans hate the new stuff because it’s badly written. Just like the prequels are trash. Literally Star Wars is one of the worst written franchises ever. Same thing goes for modern Star Trek. Most Star Trek fans hate the new Star Trek stuff because it’s full of bad writing.
@@damiantirado9616 It's not though. The only things that are really bad on a writing level is the Rise of Skywalker and Book of Boba Fett in the current run of Disney Star Wars. The rest of Disney Star Wars don't have severe writing problems to the point where they would be considered bad but there is a argument to be made that they break canon and disrespect George Lucas which I disagree with the breaking of canon part of that. It could be disrespecting George Lucas but that doesn't bother me that much cause all I am looking for is a good story not if it pleases the creator. If Lucas wanted to continue Star Wars then he should of kept the franchise. The biggest reasonings from what I saw from videos for why Disney of Star Wars sucks is because it goes against canon and George which someone like Star Wars Theory has made a good amount of videos talking about it.
@@CometStar100 I don’t care about George Lucas he ruined Star Wars along time ago with the prequels. Disney Star Wars sucks too they do have bad writing. The force awakens isn’t a good film kid. It’s a bland copy of a new Hope, the only character that has character development is Finn. Apart from that all the characters in that movie are bland and dull. The last Jedi has tons of terrible writing, same thing goes for Rouge One and Solo a Star Wars story which is incredibly stupid nostalgia bait movie. You only enjoy the new stuff because of nostalgia. Kenobi is very badly written too. The only thing that is good is the Mandalorian season one. But the Mandalorian season one isn’t great it’s okay at best. 7/10 type of show. The problem is Hollywood this days makes crap tv shows and movies that you people are so used to terrible and dull writing, so when Hollywood uses nostalgia bait you enjoy it, or when Hollywood makes the minimum effort at doing something interesting like the Mandalorian you think it’s a master when in reality it’s just average and amateur filmmaking. In summary your expectations are so low due to trash filmmaking that an okay/average movie or tv show with nostalgia makes you feel like it’s a masterpiece cause it’s the best you’ve seen compared to the rest of the crap they have. Edit: if you’re a true film fan and watch movies made in the past analyze them and watch movies this days you would know Hollywood makes pure trash this days. Especially Star Wars. I recommend you to watch Mr. Plinkett Star Wars reviews, you will learn a lot about filmmaking by watching those videos, probably the best Star Wars reviewer ever. Most TH-camrs review Star Wars by using their nostalgia “hey look Han Solo showed up and I like him, movie is a 8/10” that’s not how you review a film. But most people only care about nostalgia this days so Hollywood doesn’t make anything better.

Right there with you on this. I have friends that I can no longer chat to about Star Wars and Marvel shows. Everything is just "bad, bad, bad" but they still watched it. Before it wad the Disney era SW that "ruined everything" it was the prequels. And before that it was the Special Editions. And before that it was the Ewok movies. And before that it was Return of the Jedi. And before that it was the Holiday Special. Star Wars has always been a mixed bag in terms of quality, but every new generation seems to forget that. Star Wars has always been both awesome - AND kind of cheesy.
That hate was always there, it's just that each generation refuses to remove the nostalgia googles and see Star Wars as it really is: dumb but fun popcorn flicks.
Whenever I hear the fandom complain about how the new content isn’t good, All I’m really hearing is: “Screw your themes, Screw your messages, Screw whatever your trying to get across, Screw your deep themes, Screw the human element of these characters, and Screw expanding upon your world building and character development, we just want mindless action for the sake of mindless action and fan service even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s just a superhero franchise, not some Oscar material, so stop trying to act like it’s adult or deep or something.” And as long as the fandom keeps this up, the content of the franchise will get better while the fandom will just get worse.
Yes, but, you know why that is? I think the answer is easy enough to see. Lucas had a great vision in the beginning, which after the first two films started to change. Then he sold it all to Disney who usually aren't making SW shows with any of Lucas' vibe. So we've ended up with a range of different 'vibes' which different people have really, really fallen for. Then some portion of the fan base is bound to end up unhappy when the next movie or series to come out doesn't give them more of what they want. Compare this to the Harry Potter series of novels (just the first lot). You had one writer, with a consistent vision and story she wanted to tell from start to finish. Because the vision was always consistent, the fan base never got split (to any degree like the SW fan base). In other words, I don't think the fans are especially bad - I just think they've each fallen in love with different phases of this fictional universe, and they can't get their fix anymore because Lucas didn't have the ideas or motivation to keep going in the same vein as he started.
I really appreciate you making this video. I have always wondered why Star Wars was so controversial of late and your points on how the fans grow up and how the movies change really make sense. I was born right around when Revenge of the Sith came out so I got to watch all the Star Wars movies and animated series before the sequel trilogy came out. And when the sequels did come out I watched them in theatres. For me, I grew up watching all the movies so I generally like all of them. (Some I think aren't that good but they still have great moments.) I also really like how you said it's just entertainment because that is the smartest thing you can say in this instance.
This used to be more than just cookie cutter bullshit. Storytelling isn’t just content, it’s art. It should be good, it should mean something. You just roll over take whatever Disney gives you.
@@Red-zh7vq uhhh, so what? I like Disney, so yeah I'm going to watch what they give to us to watch. I'm not going to be overly negative with whatever it is, even the worst pieces of entertainment have something good to say about them. Look, I know you're trying to start something and make me angry or something, so this is the only thing I'm going to say. You are right, storytelling isn’t just content, it is art too. But in the end whatever piece of entertainment you didn't like, (especially Disney I'm guessing), they still got the last laugh because you watched it and gave them money. ;) Have a good day
The sequels are the most successful Star Wars movies until today. Therefore they are the most popular ones. Many, many people went and watched them in the theaters worldwide. Those who hate them belong to a small, but very loud majority. That’s all.
HAHAHA you HAVE to be joking. Most real star wars fans (people who like them belong just the movies) don't like the sequels. A lot of the people who watched them were non-fans who watch the big thing. The sequels were trash and not even the kids who watched them like them enough to buy the toys (where most of the money comes from)
One of my least favorite things about the fandom is The Force. Because here’s the reality, the Force works however the writers want. There’s no “In book x, character y says the force is z”. If the writer wants the Force to work differently, it will. There’s good examples like the Old Republic and bad ones like Rise of Skywalker.
Oh god, I know how you feel. I remember how triggered everyone got when that one character from ashoka was learning how to use the force even though she wasn't force sensitive before and everyone started going "SHE CAN'T DO THAT!! REEEE!! THAT'S NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS YOU HAVE TO BE BORN FORCE SENSITIVE!! REEEE!!
This is an issue of internal consistency. The Force working differently in every story is a major brand problem. One of the promises with the canon reset was better consistency, but given that it's been less consistent, it makes the canon reset seem like an even worse decision. They really need a continuity team. That said. There's a difference between consistency in how the Force works, and different characters having different abilities. The issue with Sabine is as much about character inconsistency as Force inconsistency. But internal consistency is an issue of quality and good writing, particularly in science fiction and fantasy settings, and Star Wars straddles those two genres. It really doesn't matter how Hyperspace works, except it needs to work that way consistency to maintain the suspension of disbelief. If you don't want to work within the rules of given universe, just go write something original and don't call it Star Wars.
Why do Star wars fans hate everything? The real simple reasons are these: 1. Woke politics: People are sick and tired of woke politics/agendas in their star war films. They want characters who are genuine which aren't based on their races or sexualities. It's not woke to cast a black woman, it's woke to use her as a stereotypical angry black woman and then make her the centerpiece of your show instead of the main character. People aren't there to see that woman, they are there to see the main character. People wanted to see Obiwan and Anakin scenes and interactions, that woman kept getting in the way of that. Obviously everyone hated her existence because of that and the massive amount of plot armor given to her. This is what all these diversity loons do not understand. As well as the whole "girls get it done" trope. 2. Bad writing which makes no sense. I don't think I need to explain this one. 3. The bashing of old characters. I don't think I need to explain this one either.
I think the final straw with me with most toxic fandoms when they start to look down or even insult people who enjoy something out of a franchise that they like. To the point they hold their opinion over others so high that it's somehow superior. Star Wars fans are slowly having that attitude and tbh they need to look in the mirror.
Oh I wholeheartedly agree! People can like and dislike what they want, within reason. But the moment someone belittles another based on difference of opinions or controversial opinions, then they are witch-hunted, bullied, harassed and threatened. Not just Star Wars, but also Batman Fanboys too and anime fans. Ironically, many of these franchises and styles of movies teach about doing good things and being a hero without the need for violence, yet the fans act like the villains.
If thats only a problem with Star Wars fans, who do you complain to ? This Channel ? If hes not a Star Wars fan, why even make that video ? Also Toxic fandom ? Show me any and i mean ANY fandom that doesnt have fanatics, im waiting.
I guess you are fine with mediocrity. If you can have Lord of the Ring's quality why would you condone "Rings of Power" mediocrity? I agree that "hating" is not productive, but condoning mediocrity is bad for cinema and the stories they use as base. Tolkien spent decades writing a marvelous world only to have Amazon change everything he meant.. Disney did the same with Star Wars, they created bad plots, and didn't treat the property with the historic respect it deserved.
I'm one of those rare people that enjoys (not loves), but enjoys everything related to Star Wars. Idgaf if a person doesn't like or care about a certain project or anything, but it's the fucking toxicity that really pisses me off and has been for years and I'm so glad you finally said something about it! It's so annoying! It's like I can't like anything anymore! It's so annoying and utterly ridiculous being bullied because I like a stupid franchise that I've loved for years. Opinions are subjective. They always have been. Like what you like. Dislike what you dislike and come to a respectful disagreement. Simple as that.
im same way, i love watching this show even the newer movies, im not a fan of rey and her character development but i love seeing han and chewy back and the new star destroyers and troopers love all that
It's cool that enjoy everything, but you agree that most of it is terrible, right? Because I'm pretty sure that nobody really cares about you liking or disliking it, and it's usually when going into its quality when issues arrive.
In all honesty it’s the vocal minority that gives the fanbase a bad name. Vast majority of Star Wars fans don’t go online and harass actors and creators. Because I’m pretty sure a good portion realize it’s fiction and don’t need to feel like they need to post everything online
7:07 Kenobi had those goggles on because he was in a chemical lab, where wearing goggles is a safety measure. Stuff like that is easy to understand if you're paying attention.
The wisest character on Star Wars said "Hate leads to suffering.", and what do the fans do? They suffer. Lesson not learnt then. To simply not like something is okay, to hate on something that is not even real, is just pathetic.
Holy shit, thank you for making this video. I’m sick of people ( especially “Star Wars youtubers”) over-exaggerate when it comes to Star Wars shows, for instance the Kenobi show. Tbh the show is decent so far, it’s not great but it’s not terrible either. Edit (June 23rd, 2022): I still stand by what I said. I give the show a 6.5 out of 10.
Most Star Wars fans are genuinely the most annoying, impatient little gremlins I’ve ever seen Also it’s honestly hilarious watching these people say every time something new comes out they say they’re done with Star Wars and are never watching it again but when the next thing comes out they do the exact same thing again
Well, Lucas as well - self-centered egomaniac who does not accept any advice or critisizm, so in the movies end up things like Yoda, C-3PO, JarJar, Ewoks, rough sand, and a ton of terrible dialogues and lines... When Episode 1 was critisized, he locked himself on some farm and cut of contacts like a sulking kid...
This video honestly deserves all the likes in the world. It boggles my mind that this fan base ignores the history of the backlash of the prequels and continue to indulge in the hate today
😂 I mean it’s the halo show, it’s Star Trek it’s Star Wars it’s lord of the rings. Like all media and big franchise are ruined the same way. You are just moving on to get a later dick slap in the face. You are just accepting that it will stay shit. Which is fine but like that’s just giving up your standards. Anyone can do that it’s eady
Kenobi isn’t a perfect show but Jesus Christ it’s only been five episodes and people are acting like it’s the last Jedi all over again. The things some people are complaining about are just plain stupid. Like that Riva character. She’s not even that bad! And the actress does a fine job.
The series was a joke. It focused on a never-existing relationship between Kenobi and Leia--and added a duel with Vader that means Kenobi is now responsible for the death of millions--both cases which water down "A New Hope" terribly. "Kenobi" is the epitome of Disney "Star Wars": consume our product, like it or be labelled an -ist or -ism.
@@KennethDillard Kenobi was responsible for millions of deaths with or without the Kenobi show. You forget that Obi Wan also didn't kill Anakin during ROTS so he's still culpable anyways
This is so true about almost everything these days. It gets so toxic. Like the reaction currently on Chris Pratt as Mario. Or the black casting and other changes to LOTR. People cannot deal with change. It really doesn't makes sense. Wish people would just let these people of media be what they are entertainment, not religion 🤣
I‘ve been in many fandoms and just recently rekindled my love for Star Wars and I have to say that this is the first fandom that annoys me so much that I actively try to avoid it in order to enjoy the content. The Kenobi show has some flaws, as every Star Wars movie has, but I enjoy it a lot. The vocal hateful fans are embarrassing and annoying and it makes me so sad that the actors are gonne be more aware of their opinion than the ones of those who love it, but are not spending 24/7 on Twitter developing stomach uclers over pointless discussions.
what makes it so much worse is that they're mostly adults who act like this, if it were young cringey kids then thats fine but these are grown ass adults treat star wars as either the second coming of christ or the death or entertainment and switch between them on a dime.
Funny, im more annoyed by all the massive amount of defenders who cant stand that someone doesnt praise a bad Movie or Tv Show. So just never complain about anything, just eat the garbage, never refuse to pay for the next Swill, thats how you get a better product, sure.....
I'm staying as far away from Internet discussion about the Kenobi series as possible, but one thing I did see is a short about how the choreography in the lightsaber duels has gotten so bad, when one of the fights shown in the "positive" section is the Dooku duel from Attack of the Clones, which a lot of other fans consider to be the worst fight in the series. So far I'll admit that Kenobi isn't the masterpiece I was hoping it would be, but it's definitely not the worst thing ever.
@@sweetkinglore because Reva feels more important the old Ben? Obiwan is dragged through the mud while Reva is praised for being the bestest ever... and oh she was secretly on the good side all along except she doesn’t seem like a hero. Not at all...
@@GhostwalkerSparrow How does she feel more important then OBI?? We're following him, not her. When does Obi get dragged, at all? And Reva is an interesting character, where did you get people thinking she was the best?
That's pretty spot on dude, must admit though when force awakens came out I was super excited saw it and hated it, it was literally a reskin of a new hope. Everyone I spoke to defended it for some stupid reason, last Jedi, and rise of Skywalker came out and now those same people now say "they never liked the sequels and that all three are terrible" it's also amazing how much people's opinions shift to go with the current flow of internet culture. 😂
I totally feel the same way... People say they want something new but always complain when they get something that doesn´t feel exactly like the old movies. I know that The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker aren´t the best movies but I enjoyed them far more than episode 7 because it wasn´t just a copy of A new hope. (And I loved the return of Palpatine and the introduction of Exegol)
@@Tom-nc5qv I'm not sure. I think its because the new cast are actually doing stuff instead being semi bystanders. Since the story is totally forced there was attempt to actually make some lore and intrigue. I totally see its faults....buts it's also a lot more fun to watch than the previous 2. Force awakens is kind of boring once the guavian death gang shows up, and in TLJ the A story is amazing but the B & C stories are flat. The sequel trilogy just is what it is. It's not getting retconned or remade so whatever issues I had with it I'm over it. I like what I like in it and do not like what I do not like. Moving forward.
@@bryansteele832 that's fair enough dude, each to their own I guess. I personally felt as the the story/plot line for the movies was crap, almost like they hadn't actually put any real effort or thought into it at all. Also Rey and Kylo are some of the worst writing for characters I've seen for a long time, their when arc made no sense and neither of them really end up accomplishing anything at all by the end of the movies.
The amount of people I've heard say that the sequel trilogy ruined Star Wars and that is the most stupidest thing ever told. Just because the new movies had a disappointing ending doesn't mean the entire franchise is ruined because of it. There's so much Star Wars content out there and they're not ruined because of one bad movie
The Sequels do pretty much ruin the series, as the Originals can no longer be enjoyed without the thought that, canonically, their victory means nothing at all. It took characters people liked and ran them through the ground. And no, it's not their ending, the Sequels are all terrible, from 7 to 9, with just few decent scenes throughout. They have no redeeming quality other than how they look, which is out of the money they had to work with.
@@VladDascaliucBruh really? People can't ignore movies they hate and view as non-canon to enjoy movies that they like. I mean that sounds a bit messed up.
*The fanbase isn't the problem, it's Disney Star Wars itself.* They're framing legitimate complaints as racism while lashing out at fans because they're morally and creatively bankrupt in every way that matters!
When the Kenobi trailer came out, I saw people in the comments saying racist things about Reva. I didn't take offense to the actress's comments because I knew it wasn't *me* she was talking about. You have a problem with Reva one-shotting the Grand Inquisitor? Fine. But that's not the "fan" complaints that the actress was talking about.
Right on! Well said. It's so blatantly obvious, I don't understand what the f#*k people don't get about what you said. Creativity and imagination are dead, and these people watch movies as if they were zombies borne from that deadness.
Thank you for this! It's been so exhausting lately seeing all this like whenever the og trilogy and prequels are shown next to the sequels, 9 times out of 10 you'll see "oh those ones don't exist" or "I only see 6 movies here" like okay you don't have to like them but there's people that do and they shouldn't be attacked. I was literally told to kill myself for being a sequel fan I just want to talk about these movie experiences with fans without having to worry about all that negativity. I wouldn't mind them saying this or that wasn't their thing I just want to talk about star wars again may the force be with you
I'm sorry but the " people like them so they shouldn't be attacked" argument is a really bad point because when the franchise has lost so much money, fans, and reputation because of these movies no amount of a "few" people like them is going to change the fact that no one will probably care about the sequels in 20 years like the OT or even the prequels.
@@franks2796 I get what you're saying all I'm saying that disliking something and bullying someone for liking something you don't are different it's perfectly okay to dislike things but when you're attacked for being a fan of it that's really not okay, it's fine you don't have to love these films at the end of the day all I'm saying is you don't wanna hear someone tell you that you're a dumb piece of sh*t for at least enjoying something that's all

Star Wars fanboys are crybabies that they feel like there childhood is ruined there childhood. Even when some people didn’t like the hobbit movies, they didn’t say they rape the legacy of the books or ruin LOTR and that’s because Tolkien fans aren’t a bunch of crybabies.

I find people were accepting of Force Awakens at first because while being too similar to the originals in beats, it had some possibilities for the future movies. Then the next movies came, and didn't do anything good with what it set up, and became worse after the fact. The same with the prequels, they became better over time, in part due to how poorly the new movies were received and how much additional content that came in and added to them, via the Clone Wars and such. Myself, although the majority of the new media from Disney has not been good to me, I also find that Andor is the single best Star Wars media that has come out, and Rogue One I found to be overall excellent.
Star Wars fans hated everything for two reasons. 1) nostalgia. They have romantic views about his childhood and new content isnt so good because their fond Memories. 2) Disney content sucks. Its facts...its bad. In 30 years the people will still hate the sequels because its really sucks.
@Benji 64 Star Wars sequels sucks. The new characters are boring and Rey is a Mary Sue. They destroyed the OT characters and made all they fought for be destroyed. The plot was lazy. TFA was a soft reboot of ANH. So, its facts. The sequels need to be erased.
Glad to say the only sort of Star Wars Media I’ve actively consumed and talked about is The Mandolorian, which happens to be the one current day Star Wars media that people don’t send each other missiles over.
i respect that. i think 8 was extremly boring and 9 the worst star wars movie but i dont care about it too much, i just move on with my life. its good you liked it.
You said a big part of the problem. You used to have to wait 3 years for SW, now there is new content everyday. That's a big problem. They are making Star Wars just to make it now. They announce release dates before they even have a script and force it out in less than a year. Disney is about quantity over quality. People are calling them out for it. It does not make them toxic. What makes the fandom most toxic from what I see are those too fragile to handle criticism of something they enjoy and lash out and mock those who have any valid complaints.
For me personally...in order to avoid ruining ones enjoyment of a franchise, that person needs to walk away early. Thats before it gets bad or at the very least before the franchise hits rock bottom. Now I understand why some people would find that difficult or even painful to do, but for me it was worth it.
The reason the Star Wars prequel’s ages well is because they were written by George Lucas. 20 years later you can look back at each movie that knew what it was going to be unlike Disney who had no idea what movie they were making. Star Wars is a trilogy about family. It’s a trilogy about the father, daughter, mother, son, brother, sister, grandchildren, and friends. Its a space drama. It’s a 10 hour story that takes 3 big movies to tell that takes 10 years to make. Disney destroyed that.
7:06 If you read the WHOLE tweet, and not just the 4 words, you'd realize the criticism is about Obi-Wan opting to fist fight rather than just use the Jedi mind trick. The goggles are only an incidental detail.
What I don’t understand is the hate for making the casts more diverse and representative of the general population. I know I shouldn’t be at this point but I’m genuinely confused by the hate that any movie/franchise gets when they start to include more Black, LGBT, or female actors in the cast. Immediately it gets labeled as “social Justice warrior bullsh*t”. I mean, does a movie have to have all the characters be white in order for you to like it? If so…yikes! I don’t value those opinions at all. I’ve seen those people hate the new Star Wars and the new Star Trek series.
Just because you have non white straight or male characters doesn't make them interesting. You have to put in effort to make them more than their race gender and sexuality. What makes a lot of 80s franchises stood the test of time is because they manage to transcend politics religion race gender and sexuality and speak to people on a human level. They were timeless. And anything that tries to reflect the times or be modern for today isn't going to last long.
It's quite simple. Most of the time, the thought process behind including these diverse characters was "We need diverse characters", and that's it. There is no care for their character or acting, and there's no quality control for the story as a whole. People are also annoyed that these diverse characters are strategically used to deflect any and all criticism of the show, mudying the grounds by making any honest conversation of its quality preventively labeled as "-ist/-obe". It goes like clockwork. You don't need to have black characters, or female characters, or LGBT characters. You need good characters.
You have said everything I have been saying for the last 5 years. More people who are showing hatred towards a dang media franchise need to watch this video and STOP being so rude & insufferable.
Most people are conformists and Hollywood knows it. The pathetic part of this discussion is that it ultimately leads to bad quality. Fans are quick to respond to greatness, as Top Gun 2 has demonstrated. But condoning bad writing just creates more bad writing.
Its very sad that things are seen as either great or horrible nowadays. There are always gonna be problems but theres no reason to say its horrible as a whole
That's very true. It's a very black-and-white form of thinking, and it makes me sad that some people think that there can't be anything in-between. Some things are fairly good or decent, and just because someone likes them doesn't mean they think they are perfect or masterpieces. Not everything needs to be masterpieces or perfect.
I'm just realy sad and angry that Disney listend to all the angry fans while making The Rise of Skywalker. I loved The Last Jedi (and still do), but so many people hated it causing Disney to panic, scrapping all there plans for a logical sequel and replacing it with a mess of a movie that will 'please' all the angry fans. I always thought that the sequel trilogy would be the same as the prequels in the sense that they were hated at first, but grew on people after some time, but now they ruined it. They tried to please fans, but as a filmmaker this is something you should NEVER do, in the first place you should always make the movie you want to make/ that you think will be good. Fans will never be satisfied because there expectations are just to high, but give them time and they will appreciate it afterwards. But now, Disney and J.J. Abrams have made a trilogy without a proper, thought out story. I think fans would still appreciate a propper sequel to TLJ more then a weak course correction that just shuves fan service down your throte all the time in the hope that people would like it. I know that it's just a movie, but it just makes me so sad, to see creative people get scared like that and make a movie that they know is not the one they want to make, but they're just so frightened of there own fanbase that they do it anyway. They should have just made the movie they wanted to make, that way the fans would probably hated it when it came out, but over time, it'll grow on them. I hope Disney and J.J. Abrams learn from this
@@Ixiah27 You can never please Star Wars fans. He continued the story in the way he thought was fitting. And yes, subverting expectations was one of the things he wanted/ needed to do, because if the story goes the way you expect it to go, well than it's pretty boring isn't it
What in the World are you talking about ? People are angry at the shit writing, how is that in any way Toxic ? And where do you get the idea the Movies are written like shit because they tried to please angry fans ? Has it ever occured to you that the critique against EP 7 was justified ? And instead of taking their time with Ep 8, they rushed out the next movie, because the conveyor belt media factory is on a Time limit. And instead of learning from that as well, EP 9 gets even worse. Being the waiter and getting angry because apperently the Customer cant make up their mind what kind of steak they want, thats toxic.
@@Ixiah27 Well... I guess I agree with you. EP 7 was verry lazy and tried to 'save' Star Wars from the prequels by just copying the originals instead of making someting differant and new, someting that would take Star Wars in a whole new direction. And because Disney wanted to release these movies in december, they had to be rushed out. But I still think that Rian Johnson did a good job (not perfect) with The Last Jedi. There is a verry good video on TH-cam, I think it's called 'The Anti-Trilogy' that explains verry well how every movie tried to 'fix' the last one. And it also explains how The Last Jedi is the movie that George Lucas would have made, because it turns everything on it's head. With the prequels, George made Darth Vader, the most feared villain in Sci-fi, a horny teenager and turned Yoda, the wise and calm mentor into a cgi frog on steroids. At first fans hated it, but over time they grew to love George's dessisions. And what did Rian Johnson do...? He turned Luke, the forgiving, hopefull hero into a sad, defeated old man. What's the difference?? Why can't people, over time realise that this actually was a great way to continue the story?? Yes. These movies needed more time and needed to be planned out from the beginning. But I don't think we can blame Rian Johnson for trying to do something new and doing his best to make a compelling story out of a lazy cashgrab
I love Star Wars, but I hate this trash fanbase. They find every reason to crap about everything Star Wars. I like the majority of Star Wars products out there, and I don't care what anybody thinks.

If you bother actually engaging in the topic, you'll find near-universal love for the OT, the Clone Wars series, KOTOR, Jedi Outcast/Academy, Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One and the non-filler episodes of Mandalorian. And that's just off the top of my head. The problem isn't Star Wars fans. The problem is people who think Star Wars fans will fellate anything just because it has the franchise name.
But the Star Wars fans discussed in this video are so obnoxious, why would anyone want to engage in the topic in any way other than questioning or calling out their behavior?
the frequency of material being released is at the heart of this...As a kid I waited years between my next installment...folks have stuff coming every month now..that is something to cry about???
It’s hated because this cooperation doesn’t respect its legacy characters, the world, the lore and continuity that was created with love, care and passion The writer for kenobi didn’t even know obi wan knew Vader was anakin… People wanted to see that love, care and passion in a story with Obi Wan. For example to explore the relationship between obi wan and anakin in flashback fleshing out their friendship and making obi wans loss greater This isn’t Obi Wans Story…he’s a pedestrian in his own story..it’s Reevas and Leias story.. For 99.999999999999999% of fans This has been civilly communicated well and not the boring cliche of Disney star war’s fans saying it was “toxic” and calling those people “screaming children who are never happy with anything” It is okay if you like this….but people can also dislike it….and die hard fans of this fighting tooth a nail at the slightest criticism of the writing and with their behaviour with that they have the hypocrisy to say we are the “toxic” ones That’s why it’s hated.
It's ok If you dislike it but there are somethings I'm gonna disagree, look I would love to see the flasbacks it would be cool but that mostly wouldn't help for Ben's character arc (depends what happens) we've already seen the relationship between him and anakin in prequels and clone wars, also I feel like in every project there gonna introduce new characters, I think the whole reva situation kinda reminds me of Ahsoka situation where when they were introduced It didn't make sense to people why these characters exist but have to give them time, my main point I'm trying to make here is Reva doesn't get that much screen time how Ewan is, the story in this show is mostly about Obi Wan phasing the darkness against his dear friend accepting what he has become and him saving Leia's life and building his friendship with her which It kinda makes sense why she's in this show is because IF we watch the NEw hope again It makes more sense why ben was her only hope. I feel like both Reva, Leia and Vader as side characters that are there to make Ben's character develop which is him phasing the unexpected things he has to phase. I can tell this show has some flaws and there things they could've done better but I do believe this show has good story with flaws, I could be wrong but the whole point of this show is making the character ben prepare to go against Vader before the new hope.
@@Femmeaesthetic Ben isn’t weak, cowardly and stupid in a new hope. Quite the opposite. If this is one season they will have an inspirational speech and he’ll be to full power again…sorry but the leia thing doesn’t make sense and doesn’t tie in with a new hope , the message is like she’s never met him before. “Years ago you served my father in the clone wars” there isn’t a way you can change this to say she was saying it like X , it’s plain as day Why wasn’t she more upset with bens death in a new hope if they knew each other ? Or Is the defence going to be “she can control her emotions unlike Luke” , okay why not a few lines of dialog ? Oh wait they don’t exist either. “Years ago you served my father in the clone wars , also remember that crazy adventure we went on when I was captured and you saved me from an inquisitor base also ! Crazy wasn’t it” People are saying she’ll have her memory wiped which is hilarious when people are saying things like “I understand more now why Leia called her son Ben” 😂 Obi wan has left Luke unprotected in this show and he’s meant to be protecting him in the first place cutting yourself off from the force and not sharpening your saber skills ready to train him, he isn’t a responsible “protector” . And there is no rebuttal to say he did it so he wouldn’t get sensed or detected. Sense isn’t a bloodhound GPS pin point location thing. Obi wan is smart despite what the show is telling you. Before Disney destroyed the EU and it could of been used tbh before TLJ assassinated Star Wars with “cutting yourself off from the force” There were master level force powers that sorted this like “Force Stealth” But even typing this section out and thinking about it more Sidious did this in the prequels so it’s canon… this is as close as it gets to the power he used so it’s canon…so again they didn’t know or care?!?!?!?! : Force stealth, also referred to as Force Concealment or Buried Presence,[2] was a power that was used by highly skilled Force-sensitives to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitives. “Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda both used a form of Force concealment to shield themselves from Darths Sidious and Vader in their exile.”
The fandom is the reason why I only remain dedicated to the OG Trilogy in its unaltered state - a true lightning in a bottle that can never be captured ever again. The Sequels and Prequels along with the Special Edition changes just exist in their own universe for people who want to see more Star Wars. I actually liked what I seen from those films. But nothing will ever succeed that Original Trilogy and besides, the Skywalker Saga ended in 1983.

I asked why does his opinion matter ? i asked yours not his, and he answered my question then i watched the video he sent and he pretty much saying same thing as this youtuber. people now a days dont think for themselves, they just loet others who they look up to and let them speak for them. people dont think for themselves anymore
What's wrong with using a video of someone who took their time to analyze the show and construct their thoughts as a way to explain yourself? Have you thought that, perhaps, the TH-camr was making a good point and your friend simply agreed with him? Your friend's opinion is that he didn't like it, and to back it up he wanted to use someone who he thought did a better job at explaining it. "Where the points made good?" is really the only thing you should care about, not where the points come from.
@@VladDascaliuc Its something that has become a issue lately where people dont think for themselves, they let others do it for them. Nothing wrong with listening to other people opinions on things but when you blindly agree just because its from someone you like is where its a issue. critical thinking skills is slowly being removed and people just blindly listen and not think. after all this i talked with my friend more n more we watched vids again and he learned the person he listened to later was wrong on many levels and now he wondering why he even listened to him to begin with.
As true today as it was two years ago, and I suspect will be true in the future. Thanks for the insight. I think people pay waaaay too much attention to pre-release press and obsess over every little detail that leaks and spin narratives and become obsessed with the drama before ever seeing the product. And while the products do have flaws, as do all human works, the backlash (for some people) has become as much a part of the fandom as the thing itself. And the older fans don't seem to realize that new fans are growing up and replacing them every day, and Star Wars really is supposed to be for the youth. That's why it pays to stay young at heart and enjoy it as it comes, rather than trying to impose your will on it. Wow, it really is a case of life imitating art.
They hate the Corporisation of star wars by Disney which is evident by Kenobi and schlock like Book of Boba Fett. Toxic Positivity is still an unaware example of toxicity in the fanbase making both sides more extreme. People don't like Disney as a whole compared to your strawman of 'people not liking the new thing'. It's literally a real world example of what the OT was a satire of the evils of institutional control. You don't get to just dismiss it all as 'fantasy movies' when you kick out the creator from the conversation of the series.
Did you see all the Star Wars toys that existed before the Disney buyout? Have you forgotten the corporate tie-ins that Phantom Menace had (I still remember a pizza place giving a cup with a Jar Jar Binks top)? Star Wars was coorporitized *long* before Disney got their white gloved hands on it. I'm not saying there aren't legitimate reasons to hate Disney, but corporitizing Star Wars isn't one of them. And what do you mean "kick out the creator from the conversation of the series"? George Lucas *sold* the series. And if the people who like Star Wars are toxic as well, why is it that bigot terminology like "SJW" and unsupported accusations of Lucasfilm attacking fans and misogyny toward Kathleen Kennedy are things I only see from Star Wars haters?
@@adamdavis1648 The films are being corporitized, not the brand as a whole. Merchandise for star wars has always existed even in the IOUs that came out months after Star Wars 1977 because they knew toys wouldn't be ready in time. Merchandising has always existed, I'm referring to the fact even though Star Wars has always had a hold on merchandise section... it was never owned by conglomerate to market and sell. Also, i'm referring to the corporatisation of content made by Disney to pass off as entertainment. It's the glorified factory filmmaking and lack of care in the brand that gets to me. It was primarily owned by George Lucas. He owned the merchandising rights, he would lease the film rights to studio producers to get the prequels made and he did it under his finance. George Lucas selling the series doesn't alter history and make him any less the creator of the brand. In many cases Disney has constantly tried to bring him up and misquote him as a means to fit him under their narrative. If you read Bob Iger's book you'll know that George was only willing to sell the brand if he was promised the Pixar Treatment which would imply that he would still be making SW content just under the wing of Disney. Since that was something he was screwed on in the contract the buyout wasn't exactly genuine or on terms of the agreement since Iger simply rushed him into signing without specifying the terms of which he would be signing. Also, the '' Lucas sold the rights and so doesn't get to have any say as creator'' is disingenuous and short sighted. Usually just a lazy talking point by haters. It really just screams that you don't like George Lucas. He still has his say on what he disagrees with and is legally still considered the creator since he has to be legally credited on every Disney Star Wars piece of content. Your last bit is a complete strawman, buddy. Toxic Positivity is the case of being too positive on something that you choose to shun any ounce of negative criticism to a piece of content (which only displays fragility) which is equally extreme to your caricature of a said hater. Kathleen Kennedy is leading Lucasfilm as a whole and if her decisions cost her money, antagonise the fanbase and create friction with staff and viewer then she in every way should be criticised as leaders and corporate leaders should be. Are we forgetting Margaret Thatcher exists? We have every right to disagree on anything but to label it toxic because you feel bored by it means nothing since its human behaviour and sprouts the same way across politics, office, government and work. By the way (harsh truth) Life isn't fair by design. Buck Up.
@@chrisclarke4665 I guess I just don't see how pre-Disney Star Wars was any less corporatized than what we've gotten since the Disney buyout. I also don't recall ever claiming that Lucas selling Star Wars makes him any less the creator of the brand or that it means he shouldn't have any say. I just didn't understand how you could say he was "kicked out from the conversation of the series" because a sale sounds more like willingly walking out than being kicked out. If Iger tricked him into selling through false promises, then I stand corrected. What you describe as my "caricature" of haters is actually just a factual description of the toxic negativity that I've seen a lot of. I have yet to see much of the toxic positivity you speak of. Not sure what Margaret Thatcher or the unfairness of life has to do with this; that came out of left field.

However, if you do or don't like them doesn't matter to me. People like what they like. It doesn't make a difference and it's a shame Star Wars has become one of those franchises where the movies are mostly good, but the fanbase is trash
Because I was never a Star Wars fan, I feel like I can give an unbiased opinion that isn't tainted with the rose colored glasses known as nostalgia. I honestly think all the films, 1-9, spinoffs, and series are pretty good overall. Nothing exactly groundbreaking but nothing overly bad either. Average as a franchise, solid B- overall. Honestly I find the fandom menace so much more interesting(and groups that just want to hate on pop media stuff in general) It just seems so interesting to me on how so many people can expend so much energy on something that brings them such dissatisfaction. It astonishes me how much politics tends to shape it too, particularly identity politics. It's at the point I feel like people have more riding on disliking a Star Wars project rather then let themselves enjoy what they can. That's where I think grifters come in. They help feed into the rhetoric to make the angered fans feel more valid in their discontent , and then get views, clicks, revenue, whatever. It's a fascinating thing to watch in small portions but can get exhausting overtime viewing.
@Randy White To you and others, yes I suppose they are. For me, they were a fun afternoon. I'm not trying to diminish anyone's experience or devalue opinions. It's just to me, the entire Star Wars saga was equally fine. Original, Prequel and Sequel.
@Randy White okay. What’s the impact? story of good Vs evil? Chosen one story? Young orphan who is meant for more? Dungeons and Dragons in space? The money episode 4 made? Not denying that. What exactly are we talking about here?
@@MardonNaLouIt did make the blockbuster possible but I agree in terms of writing (except maybe pacing-wise). There are a lot more solidly written films than the original trilogy.
This is very flawed thinking imo. Star wars fans do not hate everything, Mandalorian is a cultural phenomena, basically unanimously considered good by 99.95% of the fans. The issues are not the fans, the issue is not really an issue at all, and simply comes to fact of the equity these characters have to the fans, and how every show or movie they've done, which goes back to legacy characters in some way or another, contradicts things we knew before. This is the issue. With Mando, we had basically totally new characters. We had cameos but Mando was the only show which treated these characters in ways majority of fans liked. Boba in mando and bobf are totally different acting characters despite bobf happening almost straight after. The issue is when disney go back and use older characters beloved by fans, and then change stuff and retcon stuff, which ultimately has no pay off and ends up contradicting the story.
They don't hate everything. They still have passion for the original movies and the feelings they had seeing them for the first time. It's a lot like the movie Field of Dreams where Terence Mann talked about why people fell in love with baseball. It's that constant and you feel like you've dipped yourself in magic waters. You feel like a kid again and cheer your heroes and boo the villains. But with Disney taking over so much of that went away. It became about changing things to fit a woke narrative and to destroy your heroes to replace them with heroines. People still love Star Wars but they hate the constant road construction the franchise has become. At it's core, Star Wars is important to so many because it's childhood defined.
Spot on. This video doesn't address that the reason for the constant stream of videos (aside for monetization) stems from Disney's (Kathleen Kennedy's) "in-your-face" push to promote an agenda that was antithetical to everything "Star Wars" stood for pre-Disney.
Star Wars "fans" aka the middle aged ones hate the following Return of the Jedi The Prequels( give RotS backhanded compliments) Disney Trilogy Disney standalone movies George Lucas himself
I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan, I love Rogue One, the TV shows (some are a little slow). I didn't like The Book Of Boba Fett that much. I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Clone Wars/Rebels/The Bad Batch and anything else SW animated!!!! Why do people HATE everything now? It's outrageous, it's unfair!
Fans criticize Star Wars because they're passionate about it. Consider that the fans haven't gotten a TRULY ground breaking SW film since 1980, before most of them were even born. The franchise has been drifting on its popularity alone ever since then. Thats not to say everything since 1980 has been inherently bad, but very little of it stands on its own merit outside of its association with the brand. Couple this with the fact that the quality of the content has taken an even sharper decline in the last decade and its pretty easy to see why Star Wars fans are so negative. We don't hate things just for the sake of hating them. I genuinely have a large distaste for Disney Star Wars but I'm able to admit that Rogue One was at the very least a decent film, and stands apart from all the Disney entries as being not shit. If Disney had put more care and respect into handling the franchise rather then lazily plundering its nastalgia banks for profit then fans generally wouldn't be so hateful.
They are not fans. They make money from controversy and hatred, so they have to keep the hatred alive. When there is nothing to hate they need to make up something to be angry about.
I just do not understand how people enjoy the prequels. But I’ve just never gotten mad at someone for enjoying them. I don’t understand why people care so much about other people’s opinions
same. i watched prequels houndreds of time and never got bored of it. same with originals. i grew up with both and i am 17 years old now. my first star wars movie was ep 1 the phantom menace. it made my brain explode of how good it was. it was something else. but i dont care if someone doesnt like them or likes sequels.
Star Wars fans don’t hate everything, the intelligent ones hate the destruction of the characters and the IP. Why are we not allowed to be upset that Disney’s writers and a good portion of their directors are talentless hacks? Such a little effort is put into these shows from a writing and directing standpoint and when something you love is destroyed by some stupid big company yeah pisses people off that is of course unless they light up a light saber and you go oh shiny and then you’re happy. The stupid fans are like moths to a flame as long as it’s lit they’re happy
Seriously why cant people express their emotions and opinions without being rude and abrasive. Like "I wish Sabine didnt get force powers" And me, sb who thinks that was cool, could then be like "I understand this opinion, even though I disagree" Like you are allowed to dislike things but dont ruin it for someone else. Its never that serious! I dont like Kenobi, idk it just wasnt my vibe and I couldnt connect well to the story. But lots of people absolutely love it! Like?? Thats awesome! Why should I tell people they shouldnt love a show just bc I dont like it. It feels childish and dumb. Its like if someone tells me they dont like apples and I honest to God go on a rant about how they are stupid for not liking apples bc pears are clearly the dumb thing to like. See how weird that sounds?? Also react appropriately. Yes its not nice to hear sb doesnt like a thing you care about, but its important to not take that as a personal attack. Even if its hard! I LOVE Clone Wars I grew up on CW. Ive met ppl who think its bad, and while I disagree and I get kinda upset I try to be reasonable! The Internet fandom is where it’s the absolute worst. However as one who has attended two Star Wars Celebrations, it’s a whole lot different when you actually see real life people celebrating and coming together in shared passions.

The thing is that we should've learn from the mistake of the past and not repeat them again.
It is like an endless cycle, which reminds me of what a character from a Star Wars show said.
That hate was always there, it's just that each generation refuses to remove the nostalgia googles and see Star Wars as it really is: dumb but fun popcorn flicks.
Whenever I hear the fandom complain about how the new content isn’t good, All I’m really hearing is:
“Screw your themes, Screw your messages, Screw whatever your trying to get across, Screw your deep themes, Screw the human element of these characters, and Screw expanding upon your world building and character development, we just want mindless action for the sake of mindless action and fan service even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s just a superhero franchise, not some Oscar material, so stop trying to act like it’s adult or deep or something.”
And as long as the fandom keeps this up, the content of the franchise will get better while the fandom will just get worse.
That’s hilarious, this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen
@@DagothUr69 are you agreeing with me?
Your not wrong
No one hates star wars as much as star wars fans, this is coming from a star wars fan
Exactly

(Some I think aren't that good but they still have great moments.)
I also really like how you said it's just entertainment because that is the smartest thing you can say in this instance.

The sequels were trash and not even the kids who watched them like them enough to buy the toys (where most of the money comes from)
I’m a Star Wars fan and I’m completely chill about everything. I’m not hating on stuff but why is my fandom so rude man….
The real simple reasons are these:
It's comments like these that make me hate this fanbase
As a star wars fan I can confirm that most star wars fans just hate everything for some reason

I Have to agree..I felt like I was suffocating in it the year Obi wan Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett, and Andor came out.
It's funny how people rant and rage about new SW stuff, and at the same time defend the old SW content for the EXACT same stuff!
7:06 If you read the WHOLE tweet, and not just the 4 words, you'd realize the criticism is about Obi-Wan opting to fist fight rather than just use the Jedi mind trick. The goggles are only an incidental detail.
He knows. He acknowledged that in a text box.
@@sunkenobi1501 Dude that’s not timeless.
@@Aristocratic13 ofc it is.
@@sunkenobi1501 Well to be honest timeless is a matter of opinion. So it’s subjective.
Star Wars fans don’t understand why they enjoy it to begin with.

Abrams learn from this
Agreed.
If you think Ruin Johnson made his whole subversion porn movie to "please" the fans,
you are out of your Mind.
Demanding that your raw steak gets send back isnt "Toxic"

Star Wars fans are so bad that they make Godzilla fans look sane in comparison

If you bother actually engaging in the topic, you'll find near-universal love for the OT, the Clone Wars series, KOTOR, Jedi Outcast/Academy, Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One and the non-filler episodes of Mandalorian. And that's just off the top of my head. The problem isn't Star Wars fans. The problem is people who think Star Wars fans will fellate anything just because it has the franchise name.
But the Star Wars fans discussed in this video are so obnoxious, why would anyone want to engage in the topic in any way other than questioning or calling out their behavior?

It’s hated because this cooperation doesn’t respect its legacy characters, the world, the lore and continuity that was created with love, care and passion
The writer for kenobi didn’t even know obi wan knew Vader was anakin…
People wanted to see that love, care and passion in a story with Obi Wan. For example to explore the relationship between obi wan and anakin in flashback fleshing out their friendship and making obi wans loss greater
This isn’t Obi Wans Story…he’s a pedestrian in his own story..it’s Reevas and Leias story..
For 99.999999999999999% of fans This has been civilly communicated well and not the boring cliche of Disney star war’s fans saying it was “toxic” and calling those people “screaming children who are never happy with anything”
It is okay if you like this….but people can also dislike it….and die hard fans of this fighting tooth a nail at the slightest criticism of the writing and with their behaviour with that they have the hypocrisy to say we are the “toxic” ones
That’s why it’s hated.
“Years ago you served my father in the clone wars” there isn’t a way you can change this to say she was saying it like X , it’s plain as day
Why wasn’t she more upset with bens death in a new hope if they knew each other ? Or Is the defence going to be “she can control her emotions unlike Luke” , okay why not a few lines of dialog ? Oh wait they don’t exist either.
“Years ago you served my father in the clone wars , also remember that crazy adventure we went on when I was captured and you saved me from an inquisitor base also ! Crazy wasn’t it”
People are saying she’ll have her memory wiped which is hilarious when people are saying things like “I understand more now why Leia called her son Ben” 😂
Obi wan has left Luke unprotected in this show and he’s meant to be protecting him in the first place cutting yourself off from the force and not sharpening your saber skills ready to train him, he isn’t a responsible “protector” . And there is no rebuttal to say he did it so he wouldn’t get sensed or detected. Sense isn’t a bloodhound GPS pin point location thing. Obi wan is smart despite what the show is telling you. Before Disney destroyed the EU and it could of been used tbh before TLJ assassinated Star Wars with “cutting yourself off from the force”
There were master level force powers that sorted this like “Force Stealth” But even typing this section out and thinking about it more Sidious did this in the prequels so it’s canon… this is as close as it gets to the power he used so it’s canon…so again they didn’t know or care?!?!?!?! :
Force stealth, also referred to as Force Concealment or Buried Presence,[2] was a power that was used by highly skilled Force-sensitives to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitives.
But nothing will ever succeed that Original Trilogy and besides, the Skywalker Saga ended in 1983.
biggest issue with people now a days is the let others speak for them..

Nothing wrong with listening to other people opinions on things but when you blindly agree just because its from someone you like is where its a issue.

after all this i talked with my friend more n more we watched vids again and he learned the person he listened to later was wrong on many levels and now he wondering why he even listened to him to begin with.
The fact that you had “46 & 2“ playing in your video at 12 years old earns you some serious cool points.
46 & 2 is the song that plays in the trailer for ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’

And I don't see how it's toxic to enjoy the subversive nature of "The Last Jedi". I don't think it's toxic to dislike it, but the fact that you dislike it doesn't mean that liking it is toxic positivity. It just means that some critics have either different tastes than you and/or want something different from "Star Wars" than you do.

The ability to forget and forgive is seemingly bullcrap to these grifters. I hope I'm wrong tho

This is an important message, seriously. For all of us to step back from these franchises and relax.
As the saying goes: the people who hate Star Wars the most are Star Wars fans
He’s not saying all Star Wars fans, he said a small but loudly vocal minority of fans.
I tried testing the limits after saying how Vader was overrated in another comment section and they went insane
Star Wars "fans" aka the middle aged ones hate the following
Return of the Jedi
The Prequels( give RotS backhanded compliments)
Disney Trilogy
Disney standalone movies
George Lucas himself
If Disney had put more care and respect into handling the franchise rather then lazily plundering its nastalgia banks for profit then fans generally wouldn't be so hateful.
the biggest problem of starwars fandom is that it's too massive. massive enough that manorities of opinions can influence the media.
They are not fans. They make money from controversy and hatred, so they have to keep the hatred alive. When there is nothing to hate they need to make up something to be angry about.
If anyone is making money is the shills pretending this crap is amazing
I just do not understand how people enjoy the prequels. But I’ve just never gotten mad at someone for enjoying them. I don’t understand why people care so much about other people’s opinions
