Welcome to 1983 in the land down under where BMX is the king of dirt bikes. BMX Bandits delivers the kind of thrills that only a plot about stolen walkie-talkies can deliver. Not to mention teenage Nicole Kidman.
In Seen It, we discuss movies with common connecting threads: movies about silent priests, shuttered islands and five cab drivers who live on earth.

    Matt, you said:
    > It's a movie that's about a thing and the movie
    > is all about showing us that thing. And things
    > like plot and character and story are secondary.
    >
    > What would you call that type of movie?
    >
From Wikipedia: "An *exploitation film* is a film that attempts to succeed financially by exploiting current trends, niche genres, or lurid content."
Matt, this was a BMXploitation film.

This is why - in some way (and sometimes more explicitly than others) - all James Bond movies are exploitation films.

Wow, Craig was on FIRE this episode. He said Black Kid Market, he called a kid fat, and he said one of the only uncensored fucks in this series. Craig UNCHAINED
I also really liked the Specials reference. I loved the drunken version back in Gender Benders/True Colors too.

I'm Australian (well, Italian-Australian). My reaction: "Yay, an Australian movie... wait, what? BMX Bandits?" Haha. Out of all the movies. You kill me, Matt. I haven't even seen it, as it was a bit before my time, so I missed the big craze (apparently it was really popular). And now I don't have to, thanks guys! Also, I forgive you guys for the accents-- they started off terrible, but you guys got pretty good at it towards the end! Thanks for watching an Aussie movie. I hope to see a couple more one day-- we do make movies better than this occasionally-- truly! Great episode as always, this one was especially funny. Kudos.

Silence was amazing! My favorite film of 2016. Martin Scorsese's faith and hope in full effect with gorgeous pans and cinematography. It's so sincere that even without faith, I enjoyed their passion. Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver's best acting performances ever. Liam Neeson was excellent as well.

Rewatching this and Matt's movie idea actually kind of exists. In Clerks the Animated series, Dante keeps getting calls from Morpheus asking him if he wants to learn more about the Matrix. At one point he calls pretending to be someone else before shifting back to asking Dante if he wants to learn more about The Matrix. So if anyone wants to see a sliver of this idea, it's a great gag and I do with the full idea was made manifest

If you like this Brian Trenchard-Smith film, try out his earlier movie "Stunt Rock" (1978) which is about a stuntman and features the American hard rock act Sorcery; these were the guys who had Merlin fighting the Devil in their stage show. Pretty much everyone in the band was a stage magician and the two characters used illusions in their "battle."

You previously mentioned Robin Hardy's "The Wicker Tree" in passing. If you have not seen it, I would highly recommend it for the Halloween season (despite, again, it not being particularly scary.) It's hard to tell whether so much of it was intentionally humorous, nevertheless; I found it to be a very entertainingly (perhaps even endearingly) weird film.
