    There have been two of those flying out of KCPR the last few summers. They are great for shutting down fires that are spotted early. We sure appreciate them and hope they stay safe!

    Holy cow!!! Even with its around 1000 hp turbine this beast must a hell to control during lift-off and during the manouvers he is probably flying. Wow! I was impressed about the pilot's skill to manage airspeed and ROC. Yeah, I know that he is a pro and knows what he is doing but I am sure there is not much room for error, literally speaking. Thanks for sharing the vid!

    The ground crew are pretty casual about health and safety. No ear or eye protection; No overalls, hi-viz or gloves; No radios.

    • @ansel_av2887
      @ansel_av2887  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only thing I will say, because I am certain about it, I saw it myself, is they do have ear protection on. They are using ear plugs, not muffs.... In regards to anything else, I'd have to talk to the person that is/was the SEAT base manager to know for sure the what/why.

    Why are crop dusters low wingers always?

    • @americanrambler4972
      @americanrambler4972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be a low wing, mid wing, high wing or bi-plane. And there are examples of each operating in service. But this brand, Air tractor is one of the most popular models because of its product range, ruggedness and operating cost. You will see Air Tractor made aircraft operating around the world. These things are as tough as tanks, and have many features which are popular with their operators.

    • @cluelessbeekeeping1322

      @@americanrambler4972 Still... I wonder why they're *mainly* low wingers...ya know...I think I could really really REALLY get into being a crop duster pilot....it sure looks like fun!

    • @americanrambler4972
      @americanrambler4972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cluelessbeekeeping1322 well, the low wing may be a factor in mounting spray and dispensing gear, and keep the pilots cabin area clear of any such gear clutter and materials being dispensed, plus help in the pattern distribution of the product. Also may provide more protection for the pilot if he contacts terrain and wads and wrinkles up the plane. I don’t know any of this for sure, but it’s my line of thinking. The cockpit is mounted higher on top of instead of inside the fuselage for improved visibility. I bet he has to keep his head on a swivel to do his job properly and safely.

      @@americanrambler4972 Have you seen that crazy looking Australian Crop duster? It looks like something a child may have made. Totally unique. Something you'd see on Mad Max.
      Ya, as far as why they're low wingers...I just want to know for sure.

    Piste indikten sonra şu dolum yerine çok yavaş hareket ediyor, dolum yerine yanaşması su doldurması ve tekrar kalkışı 7.20 saniye sürdü.
    bu süre Türkiye de 3 dakikadır. Orman yangın ihbarı aldıktan sonra ilk kalkışımız 7 dakikada 4 uçak pistten kalkmış olur.

    • @agcatdriver
      @agcatdriver 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's a conversion for the SEAT package... The standard PT6-67 is only rated at 1350hp. The Garrett TPE-331-14GR is rated at 1757hp. Also the Garrett, being a direct drive turbine, provides instantaneous thrust unlike the PT-6 which has to have time to spool up.

      I loaded and serviced SEAT's and herded cats (the pilots) for a living for a while. Great fun and I do miss it. Nothing like a sub 2min turn and burn and loading more retardant that most of the larger aircraft could in the same work day
