great flying plane
There have been two of those flying out of KCPR the last few summers. They are great for shutting down fires that are spotted early. We sure appreciate them and hope they stay safe!
If engine problem goes during taking off then where is any place for emergency landing?
Salute to Leland Snow!! Ag aircraft genius par excellence!
PZL Dromader
It seems to just float up off of the ground. 👍
What a cool career to have 😁😁
In the early 80's we didnt have the luxury of these modrern day jet turboprops, must ve nice to have all that power !
a video of a airplane sitting on the ground what a waste
Hahaha...You must not like visiting aerospace museums. It not like I claimed it was an in-flight video.
Shame. No stick back during taxi, no tail wheel straight while stationary. Lost Airmanship!!!
My favotite dehaviland. Their little brother the beav gets all the attention but the twin pt6s mounted on a beautiful airframe is so under appreciated. Thanks for posting.
Why are crop dusters low wingers always?
They can be a low wing, mid wing, high wing or bi-plane. And there are examples of each operating in service. But this brand, Air tractor is one of the most popular models because of its product range, ruggedness and operating cost. You will see Air Tractor made aircraft operating around the world. These things are as tough as tanks, and have many features which are popular with their operators.
@@americanrambler4972 Still... I wonder why they're *mainly* low wingers...ya know...I think I could really really REALLY get into being a crop duster pilot....it sure looks like fun!
@@cluelessbeekeeping1322 well, the low wing may be a factor in mounting spray and dispensing gear, and keep the pilots cabin area clear of any such gear clutter and materials being dispensed, plus help in the pattern distribution of the product. Also may provide more protection for the pilot if he contacts terrain and wads and wrinkles up the plane. I don’t know any of this for sure, but it’s my line of thinking. The cockpit is mounted higher on top of instead of inside the fuselage for improved visibility. I bet he has to keep his head on a swivel to do his job properly and safely.
@@americanrambler4972 Have you seen that crazy looking Australian Crop duster? It looks like something a child may have made. Totally unique. Something you'd see on Mad Max. Ya, as far as why they're low wingers...I just want to know for sure.
Awesome! I was lucky enough to fly right seat in this aircraft with Hank Galpin, the pilot, about 12 years ago. It was only 1/2 hour, but one of the most enjoyable experiences of my flying adventures ever. Super nice guy, great restoration of this rare plane, and a fantastic day all around.
Helicopter Rangers
That's a load to get into the air. Cool.
Got to fly one in the late 70's. Great big fun!
Nice classic plane
Thanks for not adding music to this video!
omg these planes are fucking useless better response out of a helicopter

gear squat?....you mean tires.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
what country?
Montana, USA.
The ground crew are pretty casual about health and safety. No ear or eye protection; No overalls, hi-viz or gloves; No radios.
The only thing I will say, because I am certain about it, I saw it myself, is they do have ear protection on. They are using ear plugs, not muffs.... In regards to anything else, I'd have to talk to the person that is/was the SEAT base manager to know for sure the what/why.
Garret TPE331's turning Jet A into noise one RPM at a time!
Poor climb performance? Or just low level flying?
Retardant is very heavy ... like straddling a fat duck on a hot morning, and whipping it into the air ....
9 lbs per gallon. they are paid to deliver the most they can. I can't wait to load load them again this summer.
Loaded to max 17,000lbs and I’m sure hot out! Plus high density altitude. No airplane performs well under those circumstances!
Grandes los twin....
u have the shittiest tripod ive ever seen
Well, a human isn't the best thing to use if you want the best stability. Every thing in this video was taken off-hand, no supports.
Extremely heavy. Look at the gear squat.

I wonder who put the Garrett engine on it, Leland Snow would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that.
It's a conversion for the SEAT package... The standard PT6-67 is only rated at 1350hp. The Garrett TPE-331-14GR is rated at 1757hp. Also the Garrett, being a direct drive turbine, provides instantaneous thrust unlike the PT-6 which has to have time to spool up.
First time I saw a Garret powered Air Tractor. I flew a Garret dash 2 Thrush.
@@agcatdriver the PT6-67f is rated for over 1700hp at the prop. I loaded and serviced SEAT's and herded cats (the pilots) for a living for a while. Great fun and I do miss it. Nothing like a sub 2min turn and burn and loading more retardant that most of the larger aircraft could in the same work day
Most all 802’s involved in SEAT rolls when powered by the PT6 are the -67F engines which are rated at 1600 HP.
Doug Burton don’t lie. You know there the -67ag model pt6! A few f models on fire boss n wheel machines
Holy cow!!! Even with its around 1000 hp turbine this beast must a hell to control during lift-off and during the manouvers he is probably flying. Wow! I was impressed about the pilot's skill to manage airspeed and ROC. Yeah, I know that he is a pro and knows what he is doing but I am sure there is not much room for error, literally speaking. Thanks for sharing the vid!
Even more insane at 1400!
Love this - Thx and having experience doing this - I just Praise GOD for these dedicated responders!!
muito linda essa sena do avião parado com o motor ligado.Muita sorte tem esses pilotos que ganham a vida pilotando esses aviões.
I’ve never seen a Garret powered 802.
boomerang379 I was wondering the same thing. PT6 has an exhaust stack on each side right behind the prop.

When the last Blackhawk hits the boneyard a Huey will be there to fly the crew home.

Yep!
I would like to thank you again ! Do you have Facebook or anything ? And I totally forgot your name

Huey Huey Huey!! Love that sound it makes with the rotor blade's
Joseph Linz me too
Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey Huey! 😄👍 Actually it does sound a little like somebody whispering the name “Huey” over and over again very fast. In some videos it’s very noticeable to the point where I thought that myself, but I thought I was being a little imaginative until I seen you think the same thing! That’s kind funny!
Very rare engine sound, Pratt and Whitney wasp jr, nice catch!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I have always wonder what would happen if 1 blade launched away
Same as with any other helicopter...
How does the pilot know when the rotors are at the optimum RPM speed for take-off? Does an indicator light up on the console or something?
I honestly don't know exactly for this helicopter, but at the vary least it should have a rotor tachometer for both the front and rear rotor.
Each pilot has a rotor tachometer by his left knee on this version of the -47. There is no difference in the rotor speed between the forward and aft rotors because they are mechanically connected. The rotor system normally stays at 100% rotor rpm (RRPM) which is 225 rpm. The engine speed (N1) increases or decreases as needed to maintain RRPM. The pilot has a manual engine adjustment known as beep trim, which are switches on the thrust (collective in other helos) grip. He/she can increase/decrease engine speed of the no.1 engine alone, or no.1 & no.2 together. There is a electro-mechanical component in the system called the droop eliminator, which increases/decreases engine speed in relation to the position of the thrust control in the cockpit, but its a gross adjustment, where the beep switches are the fine tuning portion. The current versions have done away with this system to a large degree, and its all done digitally through the Digital Engine Control Unit now. Progress.
