    you found a great work around with the plate. I've learned the T nut is attached on the inside and stable that way. Only the threaded hole seen at the bottom of box. Flange on inside.

    Side trays are very useful. For holding brushes, mediums or whatever you need, without using precious mixing space. And sturdy tripod is very important. I used cheap one and everything was so wobbly, that I couldn't paint. Great video!

      I’m not gay or anything… but so would I. This guy needs to read lullabies or something. Such a relaxing vocal tone.

    Thank you so much for this update by the way I love your work. Where can I buy the gold metal piece that you have in the middle which allows the panel to go up and down to the size you want please .

      Thanks Jayne I'm happy to hear that! I used a mirror plates and a flat headed screw that I could twist in and our to hold the sliding adjustable part in place. I can't find the exact screw I used but I think a butterfly screw could would well as long as it fits the whole in the mirror plate. Attached is the type of mirror plate I used: amzn.to/3F5L2Sm

    Thank you, very helpful, your palette here is different to the one from the video where you made the box, did you adjust it or bought a new one?

    • @GeorgeFrederickThomas
      @GeorgeFrederickThomas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yes I bought a new palette and cut it down slightly to fit the box as I'd let too much paint dry on my old palette. I'm glad you found the video helpful :)

    Fiendishly clever! Never heard of a go to arm but what was on the end of it to make the film?

    Lot's of things to consider as I build my own purchase box, thanks! Have you considered using torque hinges? They are pretty cheap on Amazon and will keep the lid at any angle you choose and are tension adjustable.

    • @GeorgeFrederickThomas
      @GeorgeFrederickThomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I've actually added on some friction hinges too just to make it extra study in the wind, but the metal lid supports do work well

      Thank you! I found the hinge in a hardware store when I was travelling but i haven't been able to find the same ones anywhere else even though they're very simple. This is the closest thing I can find online www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=4%2BDpzfQ2&id=1CBB32DC7E18B395CD538578A659B23178C97A6D&thid=OIP.4-DpzfQ2D4Vs_h0FOuS2mQAAAA&mediaurl=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.shopify.com%2Fs%2Ffiles%2F1%2F1082%2F8880%2Fproducts%2FHeavy-Duty_Friction_Drop_Lid_Supports_1_grande.jpg%3Fv%3D1570696671&cdnurl=https%3A%2F%2Fth.bing.com%2Fth%2Fid%2FR.e3e0e9cdf4360f856cfe1d053ae4b699%3Frik%3DbXrJeDGyWaZ4hQ%26pid%3DImgRaw%26r%3D0%26sres%3D1%26sresct%3D1&exph=430&expw=430&q=+butterfly+screws+sliding+channel+friction+hinge&simid=608034736409747783&form=IRPRST&ck=F2C5BEA96C936EBAE3CA56CE7A4FECF8&selectedindex=15&ajaxhist=0&ajaxserp=0&vt=0&sim=11

      Ah thanks George , that looks a bit too big for my box ,, we actually have a proper hardware shop near to us about 20 mins away , time for a visit I think ,, I cut and glued my 11mm remainder pieces yesterday to a thin scrap bit of hardboard then gonna look for some right angle plastic to glue to them to form my end supports 👍 ,, a great idea cheers . Btw I converted an old fisherman’s cart with a largish plywood box on it to carry my heavy pochard box and heavy tripod in , it’s really good but it’s heavy and innacessable to a lot of places so I like this idea of going smaller and lighter in my backpack and carrier bag 👍👍

    Reviews say this tripod you mentioned isn't sturdy. I just bought a SoHo pochade box which is a bit bulky, so I really don't know which tripod to buy that is reasonably priced.

    • @GeorgeFrederickThomas
      @GeorgeFrederickThomas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sharon, I've been using this tripod for a few years now and it works well. A lot of the other ones I used in the past broke but this one is still going strong. It was a bit pricey compared to the ones I've used before, I've had bad experiences with tripods with the ball and swivel design however I'm sure there's other study designs that would work if you don't like this model.
