    New to salt, freshwater angler my whole life and seriously I’ve put down great reels that have the reverse feature never found a use. From trout to really big cats it’s only ever a burden, but I do have this exact reel and I keep on using it because it takes a thrashing on my little hikes for big aquatic critters and just keeps hauling them in! Great product

    I have one and it’s a great reel. I got it a 2500 close out from midway for 39.99. It was a steal. Only gripe is the handle is cross through. It got a little loose, but a dab of lock tire solved that.

    I have just started fishing very recently and I find those two cons as nothing that would stop me from getting it. I have a Quantum Optix and a Daiwa Fuego. I liked the simplicity of the Quantum to change the spool lever to right-side (it is almost identical to the Eliminator) versus the Fuego where it has that little plastic seal that needs to be removed. But can't beat how smooth the Fuego is. Well, after all my Quantum was a $34 rod/reel combo. I was decided to replace the Quantum reel with a Penn Fierce III but I just bought a $20 Daiwa Shock combo for small fish and thought what if I go all Daiwa instead so found out about this Eliminator. Finally, I actually use the anti-reverse for setting up the line. I pull the line, close the bail, release the anti-reverse and start threading through the rod rings. When I am done I pull the line down to the reel and re-engage the anti-reverse to start tying down whatever I need on the line. I have found it to be super helpful.

      @@brettstaley8386 I already bought it. The Fuego feels better TBH. Now I am going to try a Tatula

    Can the BG and the eliminator change spools with each other ?

    If I could get this reel on sale I'd go for it! My priority is to use cheaper reels on the jetty that will get the job done. No more BGs on the jetty!

    I love mine. The only beef is the handle. Penn can put the direct drive on the pursuit so there is no reason this couldn't have one. It has performed excellent, but I don't target larger fish with it due to the handle.

      No it doesn't. People confuse a reverse gear to being a manual drag. The purpose of reverse gear is when a fish starts to go under the boat and you need all loose line to let the fish run. So that you can go around the boat. Then you switch it back. Technically when you activate the reverse you give the fish enough slack so there is no force.

      I think Mike was talking about the handle not the anti-reverse. Did you mean to reply to another comment?@@buddybeavers2691

    I believe the rotor is Zaion (carbon/plastic/whatever), like on the BG.

    Hey man, i got that same reel and idk what rod to get, what rod should i get to match it?

    I believe the drag is felt, not carbon. One of the differences between Eliminator and the BG.

    What is your top pick for 10 lb braid? Thank you

    • @beaucrochet9592
      @beaucrochet9592 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like Suffix 832, but to save some money I fill half the spool with 12 lb monofilament then tie an Albright knot to the braid and fill up the rest of the spool

      JBraid has worked really well for us!

      Right now I'm using seaguar smackdown 10# very strong and not many wind knots, however does not out cast many other braids in my experience. I'm struggling to find a sweet spot for overall performance and strength for 10# braid. Any suggestions appreciated!

    Can you tie braid straight to the spool on these?

    Wouldnt make sense to have a direct drive reel handle with the reverse wind capability you would unwind the reel handle off

    • @aaronhiggs
      @aaronhiggs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not really, when you engage the reverse wind, the gear moves with the handle , so you wont unwind it.
