The only problem is the line lay. On mine if I drop-shot the braid (15lb. Powerpro) does not lay evenly on the spool. Other than that, I agree, they are fantastic!

I got two Miravel reels and they are superb for finesse applications. I have a old Shimano Sedona and Sahara that have been holding it down when I was broke AF. Added a Diawa Fuego last year and it's been excellent as well. I use an Okuma Ceymar baitfeeder for stock trout fishing and it slays.

I've grown up a shimano fanboy but the daiwa certate is my favorite spinning reel I've ever owned. Super smooth with flawless drag, I've landed plenty of big reds, snook, and bass on it without a problem.

WOW the finesse vs power shimano lineup makes so much sense. Come to think of it, I’m sure they’ve always been doing it. Thinking back now to when the first Stradic Ci4 came out at the same time as a white Stradic (who knows the letters). Definitely what they were going for then too.

My favorite overall reel is still my Daiwa Regal X 2500c. The main difference being I got my iteration 23 years ago and it weighs almost 12oz.
The anti-reverse is classic Daiwa instant, all the important internals are metal, and I'd wish anybody luck on trying to flex the frame stem.
I may eventually swap out the old body bushings but they're glorified spacers so it wouldn't do anything but change the feel...something I've gotten quite attuned to.

I have a Diana and two Shimano spinning reels and all three are phenomenal, but I’m going to give it a while before I buy another 13 fishing spinning reel. The Prototype X I bought was not good at all, and it was like $150. It seemed good at first, but a small bur on the bell would catch and break my line. The line wouldn’t always go over to the guide when you’re reeling. I don’t want to crap on the whole company though. I have one of their rods and I love it, and it was only like $80. It’s my main wacky rig rod. I’ll be keeping an eye on the spinning reels, I’ve heard a lot of people saying they are getting better.

Nice video guy's! I own 2 of the 17' Exsence C3000MHG and absolutely love them. I use them for power finesse. For finesse, I have 7 Vanquish's in the 19' and 23' models and they're also next level, IMO, the finesse KING of the hill. I also own the 19' Stella 1000, the 22' Stella c2000SHG and an old but still smooth as glass 2002 Stella FA 2500. The Vanfords are great reels but come in behind the Vanquish's but the price difference is something to consider. Someone's going to have to pry my Exsence's, Vanquish's and Stella's from my cold, dead hands.🤣

Love the budget recognitions. Another budget guy is the guy who knows his stuff(cough: watches all your vids), is an above average fisherman, but doesn't get to go out very much, so he doesn't need a $200 bells and whistles reel. Also, some anglers might prefer a budget reel due to the weight of it to balance the budget rod. It may not make sense to throw a super light $200 reel on a $100 rod due to the weights of each item. Love these vids! One last thing, if you're not in a rush, it really pays to search around and shop the sales. You can easily get mid range stuff Matt and Tim mention for budget prices.

Also have President XT in 25 and 30 size. small one is almost the same as old supremeXT, but bigger have some weird feeling when reeling. I used to only use budget Shimano spinning reels basically as on a set of guest/backup set ups on stream fishing set ups and used upper middle range diawa spinning reels on my personal rods especially bass and ultralight trout. The exsense was definitely the first Shimano that felt amazingly smooth and solid at the same time. I have a few nice okumas, a Pfluger magnesium ultralight, a couple of big worm drive ticas for the beach rod and my big catfish rod. I still feel like diawa has the better value reels in the 100-200 range, okuma in the 35-80, over 200 I try to stay out of but I would say pick up and handle the Shimanos and diawas in your range and see what makes you smile.

You guys explain there is a difference in the Shimano line for power vs finesse. I really like the feel of the older Sahara reels in that $70-$80 price range. It's like it takes a little more torque to get it turning, but once it does, it is very smooth. Can I assume that is the "connected" feel you talk about in the power lineup? I have never been able to put my hands on the higher end reels you guys feature, so I have nothing to compare it with. When I pick up a Vanford, I don't care for it much. I ended up going with the Tatula LT line, but that isn't part of the quetion. It (Vanford) is clearly lighter than the Sahara, but it feels quite different. You guys place the Vanford into the finesse lineup. Would you further put the Sahara into the power lineup, albit at a lower price point, and would that explain why they feel so different?

Just realized as I’m watching the video that I’ve never purchased or used a higher end spinning reel! When it comes to spinning combos, I spend the bulk of my money on the rod because I want it to be as sensitive and lightweight as possible. The most expensive spinning reel I own now is the Shimano Miravel which is a great reel at it’s price point.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That is a common theme with spinning. Typically the better spend is in the rod. But there is a world of difference amongst spinning reels as well. That said, you grabbed the best "bang for the buck" spinning reel around!

I can`t make my decision between Shimano Vanford and Daiwa Luvias FC LT both in 2500S size. I`d like to use the reel for some rainbow trout fishing in fast moving rivers. Versatility will be an advantage because I`d like to pair them with Gamakatsu Luxxe Yoihime Hanna S610UL to do some offshore jigging for smaller species.
    What would be your recommendation?
    Thank you in advance!
P.S. I got Miravel C2000SHG today, just because it felt sooo light in hand, really good reel to have especially considering its price.

Another great video guys! You two make such a great point about the drag systems being the main area of concern pertaining to performance, reliability and endurance. Because you do, I think you should consider at least mentioning quickly on each reel if they have the “back reel” switch on them. I’ve been back reeling my entire life because I am ALWAYS connected to the fish that way. As soon as a reels drag kicks in, an angler has just handed ALL control of the fish over to the reel. I would rather lose a fish due to my error than to a drag system. It has also taught me far more about staying connected to any fish on any gear during the fight.
You guys are awesome and in all these years of subscribing, I don’t think I have ever made a suggestion. Keep up the great work, we need you both for our ongoing growth and success in this game of angling.

Unfortunately, back reeling is slowly fading away. Tim also loves to back reel and is constantly surprised how many brands are removing the feature all together. It's a bummer! There is absolutely no downside to doing it, and yet almost no one does.

@@tacticalbassin Thanks so much for the reply. Yes, it’s true. I fear it will become a lost art so to speak. It definitely makes me a better fisherman. I’ve been fishing Sadona reels for at least 20 years. At first because I could afford them. Now, just because I love those things. AND, they still have the back reel switch. I’m going to try out the Fuego after seeing your video. It has a back reel switch and is a full ounce lighter than the Sadona. Worth a try. Thanks again for all the work you two put in. I’ve had my Ballistics bail snap shut on me multiple times when going to cast. I find it hard to believe it’s user error as I’ve never had any of my other reels including the BG do it to me. I would like to try the MQ line of reels from Daiwa but I’m not a fan that they don’t sell a tool that’s easy to get to service their reel. Plus they don’t have the magnetic oil available that I’m aware of. Only oil is on eBay that’s not authentic and it’s very pricey.

The Nasci is not even offically part of the Coresolid (power) series, it really is just a Miravel minus some features.

Something that is never mentioned When talking about reel 34:18 's whether bait casters or spinning Is the quality of the bearings in the reels. Not necessarily the quantity of the bearings. This is what helps with the longevity of your reels, The smoothness, And will also influence the price. In a lot of cases it is just a way of competing with the numbers some other real has And does not Is always affect the performance.
