You can tell how much she values her sister Kelly’s opinion and it was so sweet when she was instantly supportive when she saw how happy the bride was! She looks absolutely gorgeous!
They seem like a close family. She has since lost weight, married someone else, wore a beautiful dress, and has a little boy. This episode is probably 12 years old, or so.

From what I saw in this episode, I feel like Kelly is the person who challenges her sister to go for something daring and out of her comfort zone a bit and I like that because sometimes the bride needs just that 💜
It's sad that she has such a competition going on in her mind with her sister because her sister is not feeding into those insecurities at all. She seems like a really sweet person who supports her and wants her to be happy..
it's not in her mind her sister and mom just keep telling her how insufficient she is in appearances

Her sister is six feet tall? Girl I'm going to guarantee she had or has her own issues with being that tall "as a girl" trust me, everyone has their own insecurities.
Not necessarily, the world loves a statuesque woman. The main problem she'd have, I think, would be finding long enough clothes, and possibly finding a tall enough partner.
Awww that can be the case at times. We women are so hard on ourselves. In the meantime men with big stomachs look at themselves in the mirror and they say man I look good 😂
I’m 5”11 and daughter 6” we wear 3 or 4 inch heels no problem ! Love walking in a room together and see peoples faces ! We love being tall !
Her sister will not have problems apart from checking when she buys a wedding dress that 4 inches can be added to that style dress !

I like how her sister challenges her and tries to show her that she can step out of her comfort zone. Support is not always about agreeing with someone, sometimes you have to challenge them and show them another side of the story
I really think that it wasn’t her sister who made her feel insecure verbally, it was entirely just her constantly comparing herself to her sister. It’s very obvious her sister tries very hard to support her and give her the advice that she knows she is looking for from her. It’s obvious her sister and her mother love and care about her and want her to look the absolute best that they know she can look. I hope that this dress really does help her move on from feeling overshadowed by her sister because it’s obvious that she herself is the only one who thinks she looks bad in her clothes.
Oh my goodness! That final dress was perfection! It suited her so well and looked as though it were made just for her. Alyce's sister came across as supportive and wanting the best for her. I hope Alyce had a wonderful wedding day ❤️
its really heartbreaking to hear these little comments like "it makes you look heavier than you are" and "it enhances her curves instead of diminishing them" sprinkled throughout the whole of the appointment and realizing that it's probably a recurring theme in her day to day life, and this attitude of seeing her body and curves as the problem is just normal for her.... she's beautiful and deserves so much better :(
I don't see a problem with it tbh. She wants to look fit. She has insecurity about her body. She wants to look thinner. Family is telling her the cold hard truth. Some dresses make your figure bigger and unflattering. Why wouldn't they tell her if she looks bigger in a dress. It goes for everyone. Family tells you the truth. You can see the end result was perfect for her.
Being a bigger girl myslef yes you hear these things often but I would rather be upset if the dress was unflattering and my family didn't tell me the truth and I looked back and regretted it.
They were still nice. My family would have straight up said you look fatter in that dress 🤣

But there was truth in those comments. The bride was playing it safe with the "cupcake" dresses mistakenly thinking she was hiding her "faulty" figure when in fact she was enhancing it with all that fabric. The consultant also said she prefers to put the fuller figure prides in more figure hugging dresses so that they could actually see what they REALLY looked like. Alyce had no concept of what she really looked like and she wasn't going to get it in those giant dresses that did make her look bigger. The sister was right and Alyce would not have gotten out of her comfort zone unless she was pushed to see how beautiful her figure really was.
@@pinkheart315 Agree. Heavier than you are really isn't an insult. The bride was the one who kept finding her own faults and trying to hide them and give up on herself. The sister only wanted to find a dress that accentuated her curves, and she was right!
The bride literally told she wanted to hide her problem areas
And she felt the most beautiful in the dress with the corset because it remodeled her figure and made her look slimmer so let’s not be hypocrites, the family wants the best for her
If my sister didn't step up and tell me that a dress made me look bigger than I actually was - why is she even there? Her sister did exactly what she needed to do, which was not let her sister get a dress that didn't flatter her sister properly.
She's lovely and only if she realised that she has nothing to be insecure especially when her sister is so supportive ❤️
There is one thing that I have to point out!
The 1st bride said her fiance accepts her because she is a bigger girl but the fiance is a bigger man too and the bride accepts him too.

I didn't interpret it that way. To me it sounded like they are very close because the bride often asks her sister for fashion advice and so the bride would have a hard time chosing a dress the sister didn't like. That's just a neutral statement. It didn't sound like the sister meant it in such a negative way, at least to me it didn't.
If so he would have ended looking ugly in those cupcake dresses she was set up for
It makes me so sad to see she has been put down so much in her life that she even puts down herself. She is so beautiful and I love that she found a man who builds her up instead ❤
She has put herself down. She could choose to accept and love herself instead of comparing to her sister. Shame on herself and. Not the sister that to push her into more better fitting dresses for her.

I bet you that no one was putting her down at all. She was looking at her sister who was thinner or cuter or cuter because she was thinner, does not even matter, besides that she was looking at her sister and decided to take the path of jealousy. Her sister is not her rival. She is her own rival and she chooses that negativity.
I am heavier than my sister and my sister is a bit cuter, and I NEVER looked at it like sibling rivalry. I had a problem of extra weight that is MY problem and not my sister’s fault.
The fact that the bride had extra weight is HER OWN problem and it her sisters fault. She is the only one making rivalry scenarios in her own head. Her sister is actually nice to tolerate that nonsense

The first bride picked the perfect dress. There's no way her 6' tall sister is going to outshine her on her wedding day!! The 2nd bride looked beautiful in her gown as well.
That dress, once fitted to her, will be perfect. The color, the silhouette, the subtle all over lace, very elegant.
I liked that lace, it was so much more flattering than the bright shiny white satin one that she got halfway through trying on. I don't think the shiny fabrics do bigger girls any favours.

@@cyflym11 I rewatched the episode. The lace dress she chose has such a Victorian sense of elegance, whimsy, and beauty. I honestly don’t think her sister could wear that dress.
I know the sister is a bit... snarky? but God I wonder how she doesn't have severe body dysmorphia issues yet. like imagine your sister being insecure about her body and CONSTANTLY blaming it on you. I don't think anyone could be happy with their body in that situation

Exactly! All the negative aspects of her body were said by herself, and not her sister. They just edited it to make the look like the sister was a villain, cutting to her just giving random looks every time the bride said something terrible about herself, and then blamed the sister for it. I actually felt bad for the sister. Imagine your own sister being so openly hostile towards you, because she feels insecure about her own body, and blames you for it!
It’s going to take a lot of work for her to be happy with her body, or for her to lose weight if she wants. She needs to learn not to compare to be happy

This seems to have been filmed in 2010 or 2011. I don't know if she ever married "Robert" but I found a more recent fb that shows her having lost a ton of weight, and wedding pictures marrying someone else about 2019 or so. It's kind of hard to believe it's the same person, but her mom, sister and aunt are in her pictures, so it must be her.

My sister is the prettier and thinner one than me. I don’t go throwing all my insecurities on her acting like it is her fault. I found the bride to be a pretty crappy sister that needs either therapy or the gym or both.

It's sad and infuriating that society puts so.much pressure into our bodies that we end up treating our own sisters, the woman that should be our best friend, like an enemie.

I have 2 older sisters, and have never been able to measure up to their standards...so I know how this bride feels. I no longer strive for their approval. Because no matter what I do, it's never good enough and never will be. In order to have peace, I have had to cut them out of my life. If you knew the whole story, you would agree it's best.
This sister is the opposite to what you saying. The only one downplaying herself was the bride tos be and the sister never saw herself as better or anything like that. All she wished was that her a sister would see herself as the beautiful women she is

I was fortunate to have my beloved dad walk me down the aisle. He passed away shortly before my 25th wedding Anniversary so I know what it's like to miss your dad so much that it hurts. I miss my dad everyday. This bride was SO beautiful and I wish her many amazing years to come.

Both brides are beautiful in their dresses, well chosen! the alterations to the dress of the second bride made it go from not fitting properly to WOW! And those alterations would not be easy to do, I'm a very long time seamstress and there are alterations that I would never touch. Congratulations to Kleinfeld's staff for their excellent work. 🥰

You know, no one ever gives a consultants enough praise. Some of these brides come in and have no idea what they want, or they have expectations way beyond what they believe to be true, but the consultants are like a little angels fluttering around to fulfill every need and want the brides have, and even some they don’t know that they want. About the first bride, dress nr 1 looked stunning on her. It wasn't a traditional ballgown like Cinderella's and it really elongated her torso because the corset didn't have any waistline. Dress nr 6 was also nice, but I found it funny because she wanted to hide her hips, but it accentuates them so much. But as long as she's happy.
Sometimes it's a matter of overall shape. Yes, her chosen gown showed her hips. But the overall shape made her look womanly, curvy, and not so overly big. I personally believe a dropped waisted dress with a corset would also have been beautiful, but she was happy with the one she chose. The color was beautiful.
The title made me think the worst, but her sister was more supportive than I and probably the bride thought. She was trying to push her out of her shadow and wanted her to have her moment.

The sister Kelley is gorgeous on the outside and from what I can see from this show on the inside as well. As women we need to build each other up not tear each other down, no one can help how they look born into the world and they shouldn’t be treated like crap because they’re more beautiful or less.

I know this was forever ago, but the reason the bride has such a mental battle going on about her appearance versus her sister is likely because the sis got most of the attention from friends and strangers, and probably recieved more positive comments looks wise at family gatherings or in general. We almost all have people who pick at us like that. Also bluntly, being less attractive than someone that close to you, even if they're not feeding those thoughts at all, will of course make anyone feel subpar. Speaking from things I've seen and also experienced. It's nothing against the person, but it's hard to feel confident when yes, you are constantly overshadowed. No matter how much people tell you that you are X Y and Z. I think that is part of why she initially struggled. But this should never hold anyone back from finding people who appreciate them, their looks, and everything else, because they pick you for a reason ❤ It just takes some time for some to learn this, and accept themselves for the great person they likely are (which the bride is).

LOL. I feel that if she hadn't fired those kill shots at the dressea the bride kept hiding in, she would not have kept trying on the mermaid dresses.
In the end, the fitted style was the best for her, and she saw that she looked better than her sister would have. The sister knew that already, and wanted her to find it on her own.
Sometimes people have feelinga of inferiority without anyone's help. The bride always compares herself with her sister while the sister never said "I would" or " my" anything. It was all about the sister helping the bride stop hiding and try to embrace her body as it is. What is so bad about that?

You know, at first I thought Alyce's sister was a not so nice person with her comparisons and what not, but when you get to the end and they find the PERFECT dress, I could tell just how much love she had for her sister and only wanted what was going to show her off best.
