Brianne's mum looks sooooo young... they look like sisters!!! And Brianne's dress suits her soooo well!!! I can't even imagine Janelle's difficulty myself, no-one would have a hope in hell of convincing me in or out of of a dress, but I sincerely hope this was an empowering lesson for her because she definitely made the right decision and she looks gorgeous in that gown!!

I was looking at her fb photos and I couldn't tell who was who, I thought the mom's wedding photos were Brianne's. Oh, and Brianne did wear the dress in 2012.
I was listening to the introduction, then I finally look at the screen and say "Whose this? I don't remember them introducing a sister"😂 and then I seen the shirt. SHE LOOKS DAMN GOOD!!!!

Janelle’s mom is an angel. first saying that her aunt has to stop talking about the first dress because the bride doesn’t like it. and then when she started crying she assured her that it’s okay and it’s her day, AND THEN on top of all of that, she actually says something to the aunt, pointing out that she made Janelle cry!!! so so so refreshing to see after some of the mothers on this show.
I love how Janelle's mother defended her and stood up for her with other people who lost sight that it was her choice.

Yup her mom was nice. I wonder if my mom would have done the same as she was scared of her sister(my aunt).
👏🏾 for Janelle’s mom!! So many times on the show we see moms being the opposite of this mom and I’m just so happy to know that there are moms like this who will stand up for their daughter even to family because I’m sure her aunt means well but sometimes we forget how the bride looks is not supposed to be about how you think she should look, how the bride looks should be about what makes her feel good.

I took my mom and my MOH and they both were cool letting me pick what I wanted. They gave support and wasn’t like oh this is better. I picked what I wanted and happy with my dress.
Some brides cares about what others think because they want to please everyone. It’s my day my choice. Lol I had picked the man and I was going to pick my own dress.
I did the same for my second visit. My mom made such a scene crying hysterically that I packed up and left then returned alone.

This whole feeling thing seems like an impossible fantasy. It puts so much pressure on the bride.
I disagree to an extent. I think ‘the feeling’ is over hyped for sure when it comes to wedding dresses. As if it’s an explosion of pure raw emotion that is not comprehensible until you’ve experienced. I don’t think that’s the case. But I do think that, much like when you’re trying normal clothes on in a fitting room and find something you really really like, you might get a smidgen of that feeling. It’s just happiness that something looks good on you. The reason it’s so pertinent with wedding dresses, is because it’s an item that will be worn once, it’s for a very special occasion and it creates a sense of realization that the moment of marrying the person you love will come soon enough. And this is what you will be wearing on the day that you marry that person. Quite special I’m sure for most people. But yes it’s mystical hype is going too far and perhaps impacting future brides negatively because they expect something world shattering.
Janelle needs to stop people pleasing and do what she has to for herself!

That is the dream reaction from a plus size girls mom. Every mom of a plus size girl is their hardest critic, so that dress she looked stunning in was awesome to see mom realize it was perfect.

I know the feeling all to well of never being able to measure up. No matter what I did, my sister's never approved. And when they did , I was uncomfortable. It was never me. Now I'm going through the same thing with my son. I don't drive, have a fear that holds me captive...but he is soon to be 26, no job, no car, dependant on mom. Who is he to talk!

If a bride is receiving a wedding gown as a gift from her parents, that's fine - but if the wedding gown is being paid for because the bride has never had the maturity to have her own savings, then she's not mature enough to make a decision that will most likely impact her for the rest of her life.
I agree but it depends on the situation as what if she is paying for her own wedding so the dress is just a gift. My sister in law’s niece had her parents pay for everything and everyone else objected since she should be paying herself.

Well, the first bride is not really that big and she is a plus size woman with a natural "waist" unlike other plus size women with bulging waist. The fat cells are in her extremities. I am the opposite and the fat cells are concentrated in my abdomen which is really more concerning because of the health issues involved.
