  • Another year, another look at the Fujifilm X100V's menu settings. But rather than telling you every single feature (which would be a nightmare to do btw), I will only cover the settings which I personally think to be relevant to street photography.
    I'll do my best to explain the settings, recommend the ones I think should be set a certain way and hopefully, leave you with more knowledge and confidence in the X100V!

    I haven't touched my X100V for months because I lost my mojo and my confidence. Thank goodness I saved this video of yours Jay, (and others of yours) so much better than trying to work my way through the Manual. You're a terrific tutor. Thankyou so much.

    I find that “street” shooting settings works great for capturing kids because of the similarities with fast/spontaneous subject matter. Man, I’ve read the manual dozens of times but I almost always find myself searching youtube for tutorials or better explanations on settings. I really appreciate videos that go over the menus! Thanks Jay!!

      for sunrise and or sunset its alwasy benficial to have a tripod. I would activate the ND filter on the 100v, have my ISO at the lowest setting and aperture at 5.6-9, shutter speed can very anywhere between 1 minute to 1/2s depending

    Excellent tutorial Jay! For myself, my main type of photography is street photography. I notice you have OVF, image Disp set at FULL. If you don't mind me asking, is this better for street photography? Would you mind elaborating on store AF mode by orientation? Thank you so much Jay!

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OVF image display works only when you are shooting with the OVF and you have Image display set to continuous, 1.5s or 0.5s. FULL will show the photo you just took on the entire viewfinder frame, SMALL will show it in the little window patch on the lower right corner. What did you want further detail on regarding the store AF mode by orientation?

      @@JayRegular Thank you so much Jay for explaining about the OVF, image Disp. That clears it up very well. I just had a bit of a hard time understanding what the store AF mode by orientation is used for. While in that mode, does the camera store certain parts of the subject that you want in focus? I can't thank you enough for your amazing help!

    One major disagreement I have is on your auto focus custom settings. I prefer to have it on number six, where I can customize- make my own. I missed too many shots on the first “custom” programmed setting. I use the far right setting under the speed tracking sensitivity. Find I get more hits than misses.

    • @JayRegular

  • @kalkun22
    @kalkun22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My biggest issue with this AF/Systemet is that is not reliable at all.. even in good light using Afc on people just slowly walking, and a shutter speeed at minimum 1/500
    I would say 75% is sharp. And a lot of snap on pictures, its realy soft... Limit focus range is a huge help, but it gets cumbersome..
    I stay on manual focus and F 7.1 , then I set the focus at about the 10 meters mark. That way 98% of everything within 3-20 meters is sharp.
    Meanwhile if using my Sony i would use "zone focus" and it will get 98% of my picture no matter light or situation tack sharp. The difference in focus between a Sony A73 and a later generation Fuji (xt3 and upwards) is miles apart. In fact, my XT 1 in singe point focus is not fast, but extremely reliable.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would agree with you there, Fuji cameras can't really compete with Sony when it comes to focusing, I have tried to experiment with af-s and af-c for street and I find it a bit clunky for what I need it to achieve, so I also resort to manual focusing and shooting high aperture/setting a zone

      I don't think so, I don't believe I renamed my title to x100vi, and most of the settings I talk about in this video would most likely apply to the new model too in 2024
