Ordered my X100VI today and it should arrive tomorrow. This was a super helpful video, but I was blown away by the custom video settings at the end. Great idea and easy to see what they all do. Love it!
Saved up some funds, and today I took a gamble by calling my local camera shop near me. Owner said he had one left available brand new for original retail price. Raced over there and sure enough he did lol. This seemed like a camera I would never get and am so happy I was able to get one. Can’t wait to go out shooting with this camera. This video was the perfect video to set up my camera 👌🏾
Thanks a lot for the effort you have put into this! I just purchased the x100vi and I´m new into fuji brand so this has made it so much easier. I´ve also seen you portfolio and im incredibly amazed with your colors skills... congrats men! you have a new subscriber here!
How timely -- mine shipped today! Ordered February 21st. Made the mistake of cancelling my original order to get education pricing the next day...saved a hundred bucks but waited an extra 6 months lol
First time seeing your videos and I very much dig this style. Very mellow/chill and not over produced. Got my X100VI for Xmas and so stoked. But I’m coming from Canons and this video is so helpful to have a starting point as far as settings. Very thorough but not long or boring explanations. I love your photos from your other X100VI video. Would you consider sharing those custom recipes?
thanks so much. love to hear that. and yeah for those settings, see the faq page on my shop website. those + my presets are pretty much all i am doing for edits
just got mine a day after christmas! ordered in april! Loved the video and super helpful, but what are the TH-cam BTS settings? You showed your custom video settings but wondering what makes that one unique!
Thank you. As mentioned in this video, I have tried out different recipes but ultimately don't like using them for most things. Just a flat classic chrome + my presets is my favorite workflow that is super versatile regardless of the scenario.
Mine arrived yesterday (after 11 months the waiting list and still 600 cameras down on that list, I bought a used one X100VI). I've worked through a couple of set-up vids, and your's is great. One suggestion I have is locking in a base C Standard set of settings before trying to enter custom recipes. That way you can always revert. Of course, this is my first FF, and frankly, I find all the settings and modes intimidating after the Canon DSLR experience. So I might not fully comprehend the effects of what I just suggested. Some concepts are till fuzzy. Like are there a set of base features and settings that apply to all modes (no mode, C1, D2, and simulations)? If I just turn the camera on in manual and start shooting, what mode is that (since there is a standard mode in simulations) Also, if I set Flash Manual anywhere, I can't find any control to adjust the Flash strength without going into the menu. Am I missing something basic? I wouldn't mind a "take it out of the box and start shooting" video. Then, I could start building into the really complex menu settings and nomenclature. Another suggestion is always resetting the Camera to Factory Setting and then updating the Firmware before setting anything else up. This is particularly true if you bought used, but you never know if a QC person at FF or a clerk in a store switched some setting that will bedevil you until you eventually find it.
Thanks Rick. Some features apply to all modes. Others not. Hard to explain in the comments. As far as shooting in manual, the mode depends on your drive setting and your simulation based on whatever you set it as. Not sure on your flash question. Good call about factory resetting after buying used. Great idea!
Hi Blase! Love the colors! Im now planning to buy your lut pack. It will definitely help improve the quality of my work. However, I'm a sony user. Do you by any chance have any tutorial or tip what picture profile settings to use so we can achieve the same color results? Will wait to hear from you. Thanks
@@josephmedina0319 if you are in davinci resolve, the best workflow would be shooting in slog 2 or 3 and using a CST to flog 2. then using my flog luts
I have two questions: 1. Isn't there a way to quickly switch between photo and video mode? I noticed that in the hotkeys there is only the start of recording. 2. Why do you recommend 4K in video mode and not higher resolutions like 4K HQ or 6.2K? Sorry for the questions but I'm only recently getting into filmmaking
Happy to help. The quickest way to fully switch modes is to hit the drive mode and and then the up arrow. I wish there was a switch or something that made this faster. If I want to take a quick video in photo mode I do use the hotkey on the front of the camera. I explain that in the video if curious how to set up. I recommend 4K as 4K HQ and 6.2K both crop/zoom in on the frame. For me, I like the view of the 23mm lens without the zoom and the added resolution doesn't add a noticeable about of quality to the frame. Hope that helps :)
Such a detailed video. Thanks for this. I have a question - is it normal for the EVF and LCD to have different color representations? My EVF seems much cooler with a high contrast but when I preview the photo on LCD it seems less to have less contrast and is warmer.
Thanks for the response. Yeah, I wasn’t sure if you should report it as defective instead of trying to fix it with the settings unless it was a known issue with the camera model.
Curious about the AF mode, single point af in 2024 is wild. I didnt think anyone was using that for nearly a decade. Also, as far as the custom ones, do people use them for just the styles instead of changing whole bunch of other settings? Curious as i'm likely never going to use any of these film simulations.
Single point for video remains super useful in my opinion with the option to use face tracking that will cover the full frame regardless of the focus box. Yeah other people use them for film simulations or other settings they are switching to quickly. I don't really use them either, just showing how I have at least tried to use them. Hope that helps!
I love the custom recipes but one thing triggering me is that so many settings are custom mode bound and this can’t be changed. I mean when I turn on face detection do it on the camera and not only in this one preset damnit. It results in messed up, unorganized settings so fast. At least they should give the option the set which settings are differed in profiles and which not.
I have never used the 100f but would find that annoying if I was used to using those controls. I usually turn most of my tough functions off other than moving my focus area

Will be useful, when mine arrives in 2 years (ordered in march) 😪😪😪

Feel free to pause, rewind or watch on a slower playback speed. Going any slower would have made this video entirely too long 🙃
