Star45 2:1 sheeting system explained

This is a video of the CPM Star 45 2:1 sail trim sheeting system and how it works.
The advantages of this system is that you can ease main sail faster and unload the rig and keep the boat on its feet rather than laying over on its side and sliding sideways. It also allows you to trim the sails back in faster once the boat has righted itself. Because the main is sheeted at twice the speed of the jib this reduces the amount of rudder needed to keep the boat tracking in straight line. The disadvantage of this system is that the main sheet is super sensitive so you have to be careful to not over or under sheet the sails. Works really great and once you get used to it pays off big in keeping the boat on its feet and sailing up wind rather than Laying over and sliding sideways.
