- Alfa Romeo 155 models have a tremendous Hillclimb Racing career, taking advantage of the different Racing Versions that were developed on its base. The two most extreme can be seen here with the Turbocharged Alfa Romeo 155 GTA against the Naturally Aspirated Alfa Romeo 155 ITC-DTM.
The GTA here campaigned by Roberto Di Giuseppe was originally prepared by Jolly Club for Touring Car racing in the 90´s, and this machine uses all internals from the Lancia Delta Integrale that was so successful on the World Rally Championship (Transmission and engine) which after some fine tuning made them a competitive machine for the circuits. Very few units were built (less than 20 if rumours are to go by) and 2 of them later in their life found great success on the Italian Hillclimb Championship. Most notably with Roberto Di Giuseppe, who we see on the footage. Many Class wins and a Championship were won with this Monster that on its later stage of evolution was producing around 550Hp to all four wheels and capable of a 0-100Km/h sprint in less than 3 seconds.
Against it we have Marco Gramenzi´s Alfa Romeo 155 ITC-DTM, the Legendary Touring Car built for the German DTM series in the 90´s, with this particular unit seeing many special evolutions being performed specs-wise , with its 2.5 litre V6 being developed to produce over 500Hp at a staggering 12.000Rpm. Adding to all this a specially built Q4 all-wheel drive traction by Alfa, a structure mostly made by carbon fibre resulting in less than 1000Kg of total weight, it all produces an amazingly capable machine with which Gramenzi won several Italian Hillclimb Championships on his class. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

this lack of traction at start on turbo was so funny, it's almost like "where's my grip, did anyone seen my grip?" while n/a just flawlessly accelerated, also DTM seems more stable on corners, and I like in some way screaming cars so I'll be with n/a with all my heart

It sounds like both. On approach you hear the gritty induction note which is very much like a current gen F1 V6. But on departure you get the wail of a high revving NA, much like an F1 V10 (albeit at lower revs)

The GTA is also based on an actual 155 production car. The DTM car is from the build ground up as a race car, having almost nothing in common with the road cars.

I remember watching the touring car one back in the day, was it tardelli cant remember his name rolled it and took all the doors off, inspired me to go buy the tamiya model kit of the car back then.
Gabriele Tarquini, Knockhill 1994 BTCC. Not the same as the DTM version though - a very different kind of Touring car!! ;)
Interestingly though the ITC #18 Martini car is also a Tarquini car, from 1996.
In between winning the BTCC in 1994 and...not..winning the ITC in '96, Gabriele raced in Superturismo in early '95, BTCC for late '95, and also raced in the '95 European F1 Grand Prix for Tyrrell!

Cool clip! First i would have said the 155 ITC is clearly faster, but we made a similar clip some weeks ago... and in the slow turns you can see that the 155 GTA with Turbo and 4WD is a little bit faster. I'm sure it depends on track... have a look at our clip if you have some minutes... cheers

if modern race cars sounded more like either of these then itd make them a hell of a lot more exciting. its why ill miss the corvette c7.r it was the last low rpm brutal v8 in gt racing which made it unique but now the c8.r sounds like the rest of crowd.

DTM could be a bit faster, because the 96 DTM cars were F1 cars with a shell, especially the front suspension. It was also very wide. The 93 DTM cars still had MacPherson struts. The GTA, I think is an extensively modified road car, not an F1 car like the 96 DTM cars.

The DTM car is so low, it's suspension design is probably very different to the models sold at the dealers at that time.
Am i right for calling that car 'Semi-silhouette' because it still has some portions of the unibody constructions intact mated with tube frames on the front and on the rear? Hence it's that low?

@@atomsmasher9 Wrong. The chassis is from a 155 Q4, which is on the platform of Lancia Dedra (835), not Delta (831). The suspension is also from 155 Q4, but that is on the same principle as the Delta, not Dedra though...
My dad has an 155 Q4 with +- 280 horsepower. Trust me, you want the evo or scooby. He's had it for 12 years now and driven it for maybe 3. :P (also , partially his own fault, he's an idiot)
@@RJW14 I've had the 155 Q4 Evo, it was the best thing I have ever owned. I mean on stage the Evo IX and Evo X Cosworth (which I have driven in the past) had slightly quicker times (forest tarmac 'stage'), but the STi (the N17's road-legal cousin) was actually a lot weaker. But on the other hand, the 155 Q4 has very low running-cost and consumer about 10 l/100km of combined city/highway/country running, which isn't bad at all. It is also a very good family car with a boot which is very big. You can't do that with an Evo as it consumes a lot of money very frequently.
Please note that I fixed the car myself when it was mandatory (usually road-side on saturdays) and thus I can say that the car never had any serious issues.
And talking about more hp, my dad has a Fiat Coupe 2.0 16vT with 310hp, which is the exact same engine as the 155 Q4. Frankly, he's had two engines. The first one blew up, because it was tuned to 290hp with the engine block having around 350k km on its clock. The inevitable happened. Now he has had the 310hp version for 3 years on a block which is in very good condition, and the only problem on the car is the carbon-ceramic clutch he added, which was a mistake as the stock clutch holds the power nicely without slipping. Otherwise it runs very nicely and cheaply.
