    Okay Lexi, I was playing pro back in the late 60's, and today's game is so far beyond me that I feel I would have to completely start over again. The stamina it takes to grind is crazy. I played my way through UNR, but seriously feel I couldn't even compete today. 7 card Texas was unheard of. We played 5 card draw.

    To me cash games are the bread and butter. Tournaments have so much variance to them. I will usually see a Tournament series and set goals in the cash game that will cover all the events I want to play and travel expenses. If I do reach my goals in the cash game then I will cut back on my entries in the tournament series.

      That’s exactly what you should do! My tournament buy ins come partly from cash game winnings. 😊

    Do you think the minimum of 25 buy-ins is still applicable if a person was to buy-in at (only) 100bb (vs buying in a the table maximum?). Thanks Lexy!

    consider getting your high school degree. playing CASH games with people that
    you are better than and can CRUSH is the key to winning enough to survive.

    Based on your experience, do u feel playing cash games is an essential necessity to be a profitable tournament player? I gave up cash a long time ago to play tournaments exclusively. I've won/cashed at about a 20-28% rate in the lower stakes. But when I do play the higher buy-in tournaments, it's definitely a different animal. I'm noticing in the later stages of those tournaments that I fare much better against the casual cash game players, but in the early stages I struggle against them. I'm noticing they tend to struggle playing short-stacked. It's getting past those first 10-15 levels of blinds is what's tough. Didn't know if having more cash game "experience" may help with that or not. I gave up cash because it tended to make me play too loose in tournaments.

    • @LexyGavinPoker
      @LexyGavinPoker  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don’t think it’s essential but the more experience you have the better. My cash games help pay for tournament buy-ins.

    I am kind of backwards with how I have gone about poker. I have studied a ton the last 3 years with barely any playing. Only live tournaments, no online or cash. I am going to start focusing on some live cash. My basic question with cash is what is the standard when it comes to tipping in live cash games. I rarely hear it mentioned. But I want to make sure I am not over doing it or under doing it.

    Video confirms majority of advices my friends have given me who are grinders, dealers, and a pro.
    I approve of this video and I hope lot of people watch this as these are real legit advices. While I feel privileged i have friends who taught me these in details, you have put these valuable advices to the public so everyone can learn.
    My friends acquired some of these advices the hard way. They educate me that I should never go through their past route to learn. Im told that I can learn from watching others' mistakes.
    But why is it that I feel that certain things need to be experienced than just being verbally taught. I feel tilt and frustration control is one of them.
    Watching u play every day with ur husband like its a fun entertainment, helps my mind to view poker in a positive manner while lowering my entitlement of results. Humor u add of how u fired A, B, and C because they didnt work out for u, I should start doing that. 😁

If you are an absolute Crusher and you have Multiple Great games to play in and you have amassed a LARGE Bankroll, then that is a little different. But Poker for a living, when you have No Safety Net (A working or wealthy spouse, wealthy or supportive parents, Trust fund) is an incredibly stressful way to make a living. It's not easy.
