Doesn't work for some reason. My photos still keep getting uploaded even though I have sync and backup turned off. I ended up just turning off all permissions for the app, disabling it and stopped using it. Frustrating.
It is important to know and I've never met this on TH-cam: if you add some pictures to an album in Google Photos, the app will upload that regardless of the backup & sync is off.
Thanks for pointing it out. For the updated video, please watch 👉 th-cam.com/video/MmCQJYRSWGA/w-d-xo.html . If you still have any questions, please let me?
Nice and easy, but, as of 2023, there is no more "backup and sync" but only "backup", so it seems like there is no way of stopping the damn sync of every single image of my phone
Once you'd Turn OFF the Backup, then Google Photos won't upload it to the cloud. You'd still be able to view the photos & video from Google Photos, but they're not synced as they're not backed up. Without backup, Google Photos App work just as a photo & video viewer. In a nutshell, the above method is still valid.
I have it turned off, but it keeps syncing! Every time I take a picture on my device, it automatically uploads the photo to Google Photos. Then, when I go into the app and delete the photo off of Photos, it deletes it from my device. 🤔😫
Same, I hate that. Big Google is watching you. Or it is may be to pay for more space in our account 🤔 I just want clean my account before delete it, I want to leave Google world!! I know what to do, save all my photos on USB key and deleted every single one from this devil apps. When I delete one photo from Google it deletes from my device too.
I am really sad rn and i thought i could use some help, i was trying to delete some weird assets and i accidentally put backed up and i thought it would like do it quickly and all my photos are on the other side, so does it works, i really want things to go back to normal

Could anyone help teach me how to delete photos on GGPhoto but still keep the original on my device? Although I turn off auto backup but new photo still appear and I still lost the one on my phone if I delete it on the app. Helppp :((
How do I remove all my old photos from my phone but keep them backed up to my Gmail account? I want to use my regular Gmail account on my new Google pixel but I don't want the phone to be entirely out of space because my Gmail account is over the space limit. Gmail won't accept my husband's bank card so it won't let me buy space. I have back up turned off but the files still upload to my new phone if I add the account in general. I want to keep my files, keep them backed up in my Gmail account for safe storage but not have them all uploaded to my new phone. My TH-cam account attached to that Gmail account has way more subscribers than my other accounts so I don't want to lose that by making a new email address. It's highly frustrating and I've spent weeks trying to figure it out. I thought turning back up off would fix it but no, they still upload to the phone and I only have about 10,000 old photos. I got a new phone cause my old one is constantly out of space and it's so annoying. I'm sick of it.
Thanks for your elaborate explanation. Google photos app is a bit confusing, that's why I've made another video explaining how it works and what is the difference between photos on the phone vs photos on the cloud, please watch till the end 👉 th-cam.com/video/ayaRHhgn78k/w-d-xo.html (even though I show how to delete photos from the cloud without deleting from phone, you'll learn how Google photos work). You could also download all your 10,000 old photos to your computer by following 👉 th-cam.com/video/rvwSsaAHxz8/w-d-xo.html . Then, you could back them up to 2 different drives (2 copies). Nowadays, external drives are really cheap & fast. Keep one of the drives in a different location (e.g., work place) for safety in case one is physically damaged . Check out these Drives 👇 2TB SSD Drive - th-cam.com/video/wUvrXOCi9WA/w-d-xo.html (more expensive but better) 2TB Hard drive - th-cam.com/video/Oqg8iUFJHsU/w-d-xo.html (cheaper but slower) I know these videos don’t directly provide a solution but they'll give you an alternative method & better understanding how google photos works. @@bhupindertube I actually bought a 2 TB flash drive to try to move the files but they never save to it. They take a long time to transfer to the drive, and then I make sure the drive is safe to remove, but when I plug it back in, nothing is there. I have lost a lot of files that were important because I trusted that they had saved to the flash drive.
