How to turn OFF Google Photos sync 2024

- If you turn ON backup on Google Photos on your phone, soon your 15 GB of free space will be used up. So, watch this quick tutorial to learn how to stop Google Photos backup & sync!

NOTE:
On iPhone, Google Photos app is called "Google Photos" & on Android Phones, it's called "Photos"
NOTE:
Google Photos gives only 15 GB of free storage. So, as soon as you Turn ON your backup, it can soon fill up all your free space. This then can take your Gmail and other Google services out of action.
IMPORTANT:
Always allow at least 2 to 4 GB free storage for your Gmail.
15 GB free storage is for Gmail, Drive, & Photos combined.
Everything that's backed up is also sync. That means you could access them from anywhere by signing in to your Google Photos.
These are the same photos from Google Photos on a browser on a computer.
After turning OFF the backup, your photos & videos that were already backed up will remain in your Google Photos cloud.
NOTE:
Photos & videos with the cloud icon are also backed up to your Google account.
IMPORTANT:
Deleting photos & videos from Google Photos but keeping them on your phone isn't as simple. Watch my other tutorial, link in the description!

I just switched from Galaxy s22 to OnePlus 12. Can you do me. I need help with Google photos. What I'm trying to do is have Google backup any new photos and if I want to delete it from my phone, I still want to keep it in Google. Pretty much I want to manage each separately. Also when I turn backup on, it shows all my Google photos on my phone and it will not download it unless I press the picture.
This is as wrong as your first viseo two years ago. My backup is off but anytime I take a picture, it shows up in Google Photos.

It just shows up their like any other photo viewer, it won't be backed up in cloud
@@iamnotcaptainyt4953 Yes it does!! You have to actually go into the settings on your phone, then find Google Photos, and turn off all access.
But it consumes space in google
And when I delete a photo from there with BackUp turned off, it deletes it also from my phone. Even when items are moved to my SD card. This makes no sense.

Can I stop the uploading process from the PC end rather than the Android end?
I have miui 14 device that downloads all the photos automatically to offline storage whenever I turn on backup. How to disable it since i have to backup every photo online but not to download it offline.

I turned off backup a couple years ago, and oh boy. That was a huge mistake I made because my phone catastrophically failed and I lost all of my photos and videos because of it. My issue is definitely a reason why google has this feature.
I get your point and that's always the risk. However, 15GB of free storage is not enough to store all your photos & videos on the cloud. For example, I could fill up my cloud in just one day. Alternative solutions: If you'd have saved your photos & videos to an SD card, then you could still recover your photos & videos after your phone's failure. I also believe, you could still recover your photos & videos from internal storage but much more complicated. So, the best thing to do is to regularly transfer your photos & videos to your computer & keep a few backup copies.
I need to backup the pics in Google photos..but not to sync.coz..if I delete it in my gallery it's too deleted on Google photos..I need a solution 😢

I am having the same problem. I want them to stay in Google photos but when I delete a photo from my phone, it deletes from Google photos and I have Backup TURNED OFF. No new photos upload but the ones there get deleted if I delete from my phone 😥😥😥 Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
Yes, that's my problem too. I have deleted important videos on my phone from last year and it was also deleted in Google photos. It is now not a backup if it's like that.
it still doesn't work for me. the backup option is off because im out of storage, but it's still syncing my photos so i can't delete anything off my google account. the problem is that i don't have any google storage now and i need to delete the photos off my google account but not off my phone.

This didn't work for me either and it's driving me insane. My phone just keeps syncing to google photo's! Back up is disabled.

I have it turned off on my phone. But how do I turn it off on my PC? when I create a new Album in google on my pc it automatically says backing up photos. But I dont want them backed up. I just want to create a new Album. Before it would just create the album and not back it up.

The back up does not work when you turn the backup off and delete the photos in Google Photos they delete from your phone too.

Okay, but how do I stop folders from syncing images from one google photos account to another?
Would you please explain more what you mean by 2 google photos account? Do you mean 2 phones/tablets with 2 photos app or phone & google cloud or any other combination? Also, do you mean 2 different associated gmail accounts?

But what happened if By mistake you delete your photos app
Nothing special, you just can't use the photos app anymore. However, I suggest you to rather learn how to use it than to delete it. It's one of the best apps for viewing and editing photos/videos. You should just learn how to disconnect (unsync) your photos/videos from its cloud.

If you've followed the above method, then that's the way to turn off backup! Seeing a photo in the Google Photos app doesn't mean it's backed up! Please watch the above video till the end. Yes but how can one sync to upload, ONLY from the camera and not the whole damn phone!?
