How to turn off Back up & Sync on Google Photos

- With Google Photos getting rid of the free photo back up as of June 1st 2021 here is a video of how to turn this backup off so this doesn’t fill up for Google Drive storage.
I see a lot of comments saying, "the photos are still syncing" or "new photos are still showing up in the app". With this feature turned off this app pretty much becomes a Gallery or Camera roll app. It should show what photos are on the device but shouldn't be uploaded to Google Photos. If you are still having issues, I'd recommend going into your google account through a browser and checking if a sync function is still turned ON there. If that does not work, just uninstall the app. You will still be able to access the photos from the website.
This doesnt work when i delete photos on my google photos it still deletes them on my device

I've tried this but there's no 'back up & sync' option - just 'back up' which I've already got turned off (using iphone 12)

Thank you for the help, much appreciated. Only problem is I keep getting this notification when I either open my gallery or Gmail saying there is no space and to delete items or buy more storage. I csnt seem to take off the warning and it's been annoying the hell out of me. Would you happen to know a fix for it??

How to redeem the storage which used to back up the photos ? Is stopping the back up, means the whole back up cancelled or it’s just stopped so far until the back up

Do you know if it’s possible because now my google drive is almost full and I get that warning message every time I sign in and check my gmail, which is super annoying.
you should be able to delete them in the google drive app and it won't affect your photos on your device. It may ask if you want to but just say no.

So what if you have the backup & sync option turned off but your photos from your iPhone continue to be synced to the Google Photos app? It is quite frustrating

Drive maybe showing files on the phone. Does it say it's taking up space? Also, Drive and Photos are two different apps. Do you have the sync turned off on both apps?
Doesn’t work. My back up and sync is off but my photos are still uploading automatically to Google Photos. There must be another way

Any photos that you backed up since June 1st were added to your Google drive storage.

Are you sure they are being uploaded because you can still use the app and it will show you the pictures that are on your phone?
Any pictures you take on your phone will show up on the Google app if you open it to view your pictures. However if you were to check that app on a different device you would see that the pictures are not there if you turn off the do not sync. As long as it's on the phone you're using it will show up in that app but it's not in the cloud.
how to delete google photos without deleting from phone?
You can Uninstall the app. If you can't do that then you can Disable the app. Your photos will not be deleted off the phone.

They know they are dead wrong! ( Google Drive) I will just delete the whole app! Im purchasing OneDrive thru Microsoft office 360. Id rather have a subscription thur them/
