I agree. I completely respect the build and the effort and work put into it... but the paint job kills it. Idc if you love anime and don't get me wrong, I have nothing against anime. But it just looks so tacky with that anime stuff..
@@SuperCSplayer That's kinda the whole point. The term "itasha" means "painful car". The fact you would consider the anime vinyls tacky (painful to look at, you could say) means that its done its job.

That's one badass xB. Great car review. And I'm glad he caught you, David! Scion DID get it right. It wasn't until they started making "American" versions of the originals that they lost their way. Yes, the first gen was designed for a younger crowd and it did appeal to them! How do I know? I bought one! They also just so happened to appeal to an older crowd who were looking for something affordable, economical, dependable, AND easy to get in and out of. I'm on my second xB and it has 280,000 miles on it and it's still kicking ass.
That thing has a ton of sweat and love in it! Good job! I’m more into mustangs as the channel name implies but I support anyone who has that much passion for any vehicle! Good for you!
I had a manual 04 xb with some lowering springs and a strut bar and 17x7 wheels and it surprisingly handled really well. Not as much body roll as you would think. I recently totaled it and drive a 2019 mazda3 now, but I still kinda miss my Xb
The factory option accessories were cool on these back in the day. You could get cold air intake, cat back exhaust, led interior lighting, 8 sub woofer and things like aluminum stick shift and pedals
Finally some attention is being brought back to the xB! My family has owned one since I was 8, now I'm in college and my parents gifted me the car. I've been modding it for the past 2 years and could not be happier, it truly is the little box that could. Nice review and build 👌
I still have a 2006 Scion XA. I wish Toyota could have manufactured body kits on all their cars. I believe a lot of people would have liked it a lot more.
@@brycefujimoto8023 I use to sit there and customize XB's and XA's on the old Scion website like every day. I wanted that gaudy Scion logo on the hood so bad 😂
WillJay The commercials for Scion were very eye catching because of the customization you could do to the cars. I just know that they were trying to bring Japanese cars to the U.S. and it just didn’t go as planned for the Scion brand. There is a good amount of old school Scion cars around my town come to think of it in Hilo, Hawaii.
NoPark went up the tail of the dragon a couple months ago and he saw my car and we started talking about cars for a bit. He’s a really cool guy and as far as I know he lives around knoxville because I see him at Harper c&c and EAG c&c almost every time I go
I bought a brand new five speed xB in 2006. I'm the reason they failed. I'm now 65. I actually took a friend for a drive and he and his wife bought his and hers xB's. As a musician I used that thing to haul a lot of PA equipment and people to gigs. At 160k miles I smacked a deer and just replaced the broken headlights on one side with cheap after market LED's. It now has 220k miles on it and it drives smooth as butter. I love driving that thing. We drove it from our old home in Seattle to our new home in Kentucky 8 years ago and I'll never sell this car, except to a junk yard when it dies. I expect to do the same with the six speed FR-S that now has 171k miles on it. Both are white. My wife drives an iA. Our other vehicle, a Silverado Z71 is a piece of jink compared to all these cars. Little stuff breaks on it all the time. These cars just don't break.
I used to have a Scion XB. I loved that thing. Had good room in the back to move stuff, looked cool, etc. I kind of want to get a used one now as a daily driver.
My dad painted a second gen, bagged it, put 20's on it and it went to a bunch of car shows. If any of you are on the east coast and went to a bunch of minitruck shows about 2013ish you might've seen it. Silver, blue flames, and charcoal gray tribal. It was a sad when it got totaled. But on to bigger and better things
I really miss my Xb. I had an 05 with a stick. It was what got me into cars. I got it when I was 16 and immediately straight piped and slammed it, later I did the worst turbo job of all time with a turbo off of a diesel pick up. It had 200k+ miles, but it I hadn’t wrapped it around a tree I’d still be driving it. It got no respect at meets but it was mine and it was great. I’ll never forget that car.
I just watched my 2004 xB drive away with its new owner two hours ago, and I already miss it. Such an icon of modern agressive design! I don’t get people who don’t get the xBox. I tell them: “You gotta get in touch with your inner quirk, bro!” Long live the xBox!
Bought myself a 2006 xB last year and is the best economy car I've ever had. The space inside is amazing at what you can fit in there at 36mpg. Oh and the car is only 2400 pounds so it's a go cart.
There's a new Impreza Hatch near me that's in the middle of an Itasha build. It's cool that every time I see it drive through town, more is added onto it.
Awesome video! I currently have a 2015 scion tC and I just enjoy driving this car ever since i bought it. I also plan one day on making it itasha as well! Hope you will review the scion tC some day!

The 1.5L engine is small but gets the job done. The nice thing is it gets good gas mileage. The 2nd gen xb got refined but the 2.4L engine is a gas hog. To me Honda always got better mpg than Toyota’s excluding the Prius until recently. Once you have a car with a rear hatch you won’t want a sedan ever again. I love the space.

As a current owner of two Scions we love them. Toyotas with a bit of style We have a 2 Gen xB. A great family hauler. Is it the most stylish, no. Wonderfully useful, heck ya
Scion almost worked but it came out when toyota was fully embracing the whole middle management/ageing baby boomers with bland cars. When they came out the Celica then turned TC was never a threat to the Civic SI or even had a version that was close to it. the XA was just odd. The XB was super practical but the people who were buying Toyotas saw them on the same lots at the lower price point and grabbed them killing any of the "cool" factor they could have had out of major metro areas. Then add in the recession of when the gen 2s came out and its hard to go out a buy a new car to mod when you could pick up clean 240s for a few grand at the time. They weren't bad cars just the timing was off and the market changed.
I personally don't like the Car, but I like this dude. I own a first gen TC rn and it's something that is a great car. It genuinely feels much more modern when you go out driving. I even know people who have ones with over 200k and still haven't had any problems. The first gen tc and xb are great bargains for a first car.

I have been in love with these cars for more than a decade and decided to get a first gen tC because it was sportier and had a little bit of guts. After driving Mini Coopers for the last year though my tC feels like a big sloppy boat, haha! The Scion scene is dead, but while it was there I made some of the greatest friends. I swear "Scion people" are some of the best people actually.

no
Nah
Its gunna be a no from me dawg.
Cool
Someone should do a really classy, overbuilt vip xb car. Leather interior, curtains, champagne glasses, the whole 9. Keep the itasha too
Mans got the engine bay all chromed out like shit
Someone in my town has that done to an XB, its absurdly slow, but it's nice on the inside
There is a whole bunch out there done exactly like this. They look awesome done that way too
This guy on a FB xB group has done a second gen and it really looks nice lmfao diamond stitch leather and stance
Search will bring you plenty done that way
Not gonna lie, that wrap/rims suit the car
And THAT is why it failed.
I'm Japanese and it is weird seeing a Japanese style customized car in America, but I know the itasha scene is on the rise there too.

That rowing thing... Trying to go up hill... That's the only reason I never bought an xB1.
