I work in retail too Macy's does that all the time. They raised the price then give you a percentage off. A lot of them do it. It is so wrong for them to do it thinking we don't know.
Saddest part with my experience working in department stores is it’s the little old ladies falling for it😢 but I guess what they don’t know won’t hurt them?
It's not just that sponsorship money though, she knew it would 📈 If she spoke about it so she absolutely bought some of it before saying anything so she could sell it all once she advertised it. That's pump and dump scheme behavior and I'm happy she got fined over it, you can't tell me that's not a form of insider trading.
Just came here to say JUST this! Kim K was an investor and she got others to invest before crypto tanked as bad as it did. And, what do you know, the EXACT cryptocurrency she invested in (Etherium) tanked earlier this year. To make it worse, she advertised crypto at a time where so many were really starting to speak out on how crypto & NFTs are a pyramid scheme type scam. She knew what she was doing 100%.
Sponsorship🙄🙄 I clicked and unsubscribed off so many channels. It doesn't take me long to find out who the fakes, phonies, and frauds are. They use their items 1 time and you never hear about the item again. Me and my friends laugh and drag these "influencers" that do it. They are so blatant with it too. Then they ask why their views are low.🙄🙄 We are educated consumers over here. A sucker is born every moment this is why some of these people are still in business.
I stopped shopping at FashionNova when I received clothing that reeked of cigarette smoke and had holes. They told me store credit only and I had to pay to ship the items back. They actually charged me another $7 instead of deducting from the store credit. Never again!
I hate that Fashion Nova don’t give refunds. They give store credit . Knock on wood I haven’t had any problems with Shein 😂😂I agree with that sephora reference
Sephora and Amazon have the most bogus reviews ever especially folks who didn’t try the item or have some other drawn out reason that doesn’t make sense. I’m with you on Zara but Zara does that because the population still buys but I don’t shop Zara it’s fancy Fashion Nova and Shein and I can’t with them prices.
11:35 I am extremely dumbfounded whenever people say shit like this, because it's like... Has your brain rly become that rotted from capitalism that you're okay with corporations doing whatever they can to take your money from you?! Because I would rly hate to be you.
Girl, you said a mouth full. I still do not understand why consumers love to buy from problematic influencers and problematic brands. They get a rush off of it or something. Consumers have the power, we just need to understand it and know how to use it. STOP making billionaires out of phony people/companies.
Even though yeah, Huda should’ve disclosed the pressed pigments thing cause it’s easy to do, it’s always interesting to look and see examples of Tik Tok being behind in many ways, but especially beauty products/makeup. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it’s kinda a fascinating thing.
It’s probably because TikTok is so comprised of a younger gen. Sure, they can do makeup, but I feel there’s a lot they don’t actually know or pay attention to when it comes to makeup because they just don’t care.
19:35 It is. Many of the ingredients that are used in pressed pigments are approved for use on the eye area in the EU, which is why companies feel bold enough to put the palettes out in the first place.
SPEAK 🗣 You certainly said a mouthful here. I’ve grown pass the wasteful stage many, many years ago. Just because I can afford it doesn’t mean I need or want it. Then again, I’ve not ever been easily INFLUENCED, NOR A FOLLOWER. Honestly, felt like she should’ve been held liable for more than what she had to pay. WOMAN: “March by the best of your own DRUM 🥁.”
"So what IS it that make y'all still do it?" Probably their privilege thinking they can get away with it for a lot of these brands. "'All brands do it,' Yeah but that doesn't make it right tho," True. I would love to know of a brand or online shop that isn't sketchy a la Shein or Fashion Nova that I can afford and support.
@@Shanygne yeah, that's what the brand being sued for the info about the lawsuit came out in September, but this news passed really low key, only one or two media outlets covered it
the lack of disclosure among small creators and the like is also extremely frustrating. i literally roll my eyes scrolling down my feed. it so blatantly obvious would love to hear you talk about the rise of micro influencers and how it becomes even more predatory when brands are offering underpaid sponsor deals because they know you’ll be less likely to say anything negative because at the end of the day it’s exploiting a power imbalance.
I think the main reason that’s these brands keep doing unethical things is because people are still going to buy their product regardless. So if consumers want these brands to be more ethical and not have to call out brands stop supporting them and they’ll change. People have to learn to hit these corporations where it hurts which is their pockets so if consumers want change they have to be willing to stop supporting these brands until they see real change that’s just the truth
My personal favorite flavor of negative reviews that are utterly pointless are the ones who are going to an event they've undoubtedly known about for months ordered something 2 days before and it didn't arrive in time or wasn't what they expected and couldn't be fixed in the time they had. That's just poor planning on your part. I've done it before but I didn't leave a 1 star review to proclaim to the world how entitled I am
I was in the UK and I got about $20 in that 2020 law suit because how are you giving me a gift card for an out-of-stock item??!! Like, give me my money back
When it comes to celebities and brands not disclosing information, I think it’s the same reasoning that sent Martha Stewart to jail. She didn’t make (hardly)any money from her misdeeds.
None of these celebrities are Billionaires! 🚫 Y’all really think a BILLIONAIRE is going to put their name on the line for a quarter million? STOP THE CAP 🧢 😂
…. You do realize most billionaires have to do things business wise that put their name on the line to even become billionaires right? 🥴 Bill, Elon, Jeff all have been tied to underhanded business practices and ones much worse than not disclosing an Instagram ad.
@@Shanygne they’ve actually already been hit with one for what i was about to say LOL…repackaging and selling used beauty products …i used to work there…i stopped working there shortly after. @@Shanygne I’m sure since I’ve been gone they’ve probably fixed it because our manager was fired, but i wonder how many of their smaller stores still do this…i read the article and they’ve done this before..this is the second time they’ve been called out. Idk if they’ve settled though.
@@shanel1714 Funnily enough, my last Ulta order (about a week or two ago) came with a broken, used item. That was the first time I had ever had that happen, but I have seen a good number of reviews complaining of the same thing. Very sad since I generally like shopping there.
Fines don't affect rich people at this level, they are effectively above the law if they can afford to pay the fine.
Good point.
Fines are only a punishment for poor people.

Savage X Fenty is also being sued for deceiving customers
bc of their VIP membership thing
