    Hello John. . . . Great video and review of the Mojave for winter driving. . . . I have the twin to your Mojave. .. . . It has been great to drive in the wet slushy snow we see in eastern VA. . . . . Performs MUCH better than the 2016 Chevy truck I sold.. . . . Really enjoy your video

    I have the 'auto' transfer case on my Mojave. Didn't think I'd like it, but is is really nice for slushy and icy roads. I find that I use it way more than I thought I would.

      Congratulations! You will love it in the snow . I love driving over cornfields with fresh snow at higher speeds with my Mojave. The suspension gets a great workout and you would never be able to do it that fast in any other vehicle. Woops in the sand are also some of the most fun I’ve ever had off-roading in this vehicle

    Really enjoying these videos. I am curious about how you like the Gladiator compared to Wrangler. I currently run a Wrangler Rubicon but I am looking hard at a Gladiator for more room for camping/overlanding. Thanks!

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It all depends on what you really want to do with it. The gladiator especially Mojave drives so nice from the factory and it has decent payload. But it will cost more upfront and it’s going to cost more if you do a lot of difficult trails. From a rock crawler perspective. You can’t hide the break over angle or departure angle they are real. I put mine on 35 and didn’t have to make any modifications to do it. So far I’ve done everything I wanted to with it. I am not looking to do black diamond trails in it moderate is about as difficult as I need to do. As a camping rig I think it’s fantastic because it’s still more capable than any other truck out there. You still feel like you’re driving a well handling jeep which I love. And you can do all the Jeep things top off doors off, dump all your paychecks into unlimited aftermarket options. In all the Jeeps I’ve owned it’s a tie between my first TJ and this Mojave. TJ was more capable but this is a way better ride and daily driver plus I can use it for truck stuff too. Hope this helps it’s a tough choice I know so they only real thing to do is buy yourself the Gladiator and your wife the wrangler and you have all the bases covered!! Take care!

    I haven't noticed if my steering wheel turns to warm, as I don't let it go for more than 10 mins; but I'll have to check it out. I think my whole steering wheel heats up, not just the 10&2 position. I like how your coat has the orange accents like your truck. I've used the setting with the defrost/feet. Your defrost vents by the doors should keep that area clear, but I rarely have air come out of the panel vents. You looked cramped in the drivers position. Have you used your lockers in the snow off-road yet?

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Justin Good to hear from you! Your correct about the steering wheel heating up all the way around I didn't mean to make it seem like it was just in those two areas. The coat was a gift from my wife the dog has one that matches too. Of course I would never be able to coordinate something like that on my own. I use my lockers in the snow on the farm all the time. I got stuck last week making a trail for my mom to walk the dogs around the woods in the back. It was -10 and I was alone, I had to get out and air down to 25psi there were some drifted areas where the snow was over 30" deep so I had to go back and fourth and ram my way through but I made it. I also used the lockers a lot deer hunting this year up in Buffalo County WI. We had rain and I had a lot of wet muddy hill climbs in the bluffs. I'm not saying I couldn't have made it up without it but since I had them why not use it. I like the BLD system in the jeep but you have to be in 4Lo 1st gear and when your running up wet hills with slippery mud or going through deep snow you need momentum so the rear locker was nice for that. Plus these Faulken Wild Peak MT really grab I think they are the best off road tire I've had. I loved watching you plow through the drifts in your latest video. Take care and enjoy your Gladiator!

      @gvsukids 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MojaveTrails thanks for watching! Those drifts were over 33". We'll air down this weekend for driving in the woods.

    How do you find the steering? I have to constantly correct my steering, sometimes it's downright frightening on the highway... the thing wants to float from the left to the right. Jeep has been unhelpful. Just did alignments (twice in one month, and had adjustments both times.. jeesh) and told me all was well.

      In my case... dropped the air pressure to 35psi and keep it there as soon take it out from the dealer. Side by side in the road just geeting to home original "street tires" seems very overinflated at 38 psi cold. Once warmer was even worse.
      With afermarket 33's x 12 LT's I keep them at 35 psi . No wandering at all.

    Can you plow snow with thr Mojave

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could hook up a plow. It will add a lot of weight to the front abd of course affect your suspension travel. Assuming you would remove it before going offroad. As far as how it would work I think it would do better than most midsized pickups.

  • @USAFJUNKIE
    @USAFJUNKIE 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Actually mud terrain tires typically self clean, which is undesirable for snow. You do want the snow to pack on as snow typically sticks to itself, which will add to traction.

      People who say that clearly don’t drive in much snow at all
      No
      You don’t want your tires to fill up with snow
      They become A giant snow ball and then you’re stuck.
      I dunno who makes this stuff up

    • @richardthomas1531

      I have to disagree with JeepGuy. To me it's sand that Mud tires have a had time staying on top of as they dig in. They plow through snow here in Washington State with no issues.
