    I bought one of these from your website a few weeks ago after much research. It was the adjustment wheel that did it for me, plus I liked the chunky look over the MUCH more expensive Commandante. I was not disappointed. Loving the coffee it puts in my Aeropress, and so is my wife.

      In many places Comandante is the same price. In France I buy a latest version Comandante for 235 euros, and the K Plus is actually more expensive, 275 euros. If I buy in the UK or another European country the cheapest I found is the equivalent of 234 euros, so same same. In China the K Plus is way cheaper though.

    The details on the modular catcher cup, with the dosing ring, is extremely helpful!

    This is a brilliant review. Visually showing the grind range solidified my decision and so much more helpful than other reviews.

    Got one based on your review. I’m loving it vs. my old ROK Grinder for pour overs. Still dialing in but the grounds are so much more even!

    Great review! In general, if you grind a 20-25g dose a day, how often would you do a full breakdown to clean it? Usually sticking to light-mid non-oily beans.

    Thanks for the review, I just got one. I wonder how easy it is to calibrate it correctly after disassembly.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty easy - it all has to do with the top thumb screw that sits over the ball bearing on top. Adjust this to adjust where the zero point is on the grinder

    Hi, I recently got a k-plus. Do you ever find it produce too much fines for filter coffee? I'm grinding around 5.5, is it too fine for filter? I fond the coffee bed muddy when I finish. Thanks

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't no. I would say 5.5 sounds on the finer side of filter , not too fine - but normally anything around a 6-7 I would be using for a standard 2 cup pourover and maybe a 7.5 for bigger brews.

    I’m looking at getting my first hand grinder, brewing all forms of coffee, I’m am at the point where it’s between the k plus and the kinu m47 classic, is it worth paying the additional money for the kinu and not having to upgrade at a later date or will the k plus satisfy my needs and I won’t be left feeling what if and should I have got the kinu ?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Dave. You've picked two of my top three grinders here, the other - the Comdantante. Honestly - any of these Grinder will satisfy for all brewing methods - and last a long time. So - If you're ready to pull the trigger - go the K-plus 👌

    • @JulienGaudfroy
      @JulienGaudfroy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Coming from being used to EK43 with SSP burrs, my opinion and that of two trustable people I know well, is that for pourover Kinu M47 is simply inferior, even if you change to their pourover replacement burr set. Comandante and K Plus are very very close in the cup, if you want usability design and grinding speed take the K Plus, if you want the absolute best cup Comandante still edges it out a bit. Sweeter and overall still a bit richer, longer mouthfeel and aftertaste. K Plus is very close, more acidity than sweetness but balanced too and much nicer to use than the C40, especially 2.5 times quicker to grind. Kinu is far away in the cup, for that quality there are cheaper options.

    K plus or kmax?

  • @user-xh5pi2nf9q
    @user-xh5pi2nf9q 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seriously considering one of these. I have a brevile smart grinder that’s about 6 maybe 7 years old and I want to up my game but don’t want the expense of the electric grinders. This seems like a great option. I mainly do Aeropress or use my Technivorm.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% this would be a great option for those uses - so long as you're happy with hand grinding 😀

    JX Pro or the K-Pro ? This both are the only options available to purchase nearby and i would be using it only for expresso

    • @soupappreciator8977
      @soupappreciator8977 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on what type of espresso you like. For the sweet, complex and textured shots from 1:1 to 1:3 the JX burrs are nice and for the high clarity, high separation shots using light roasts from 1:2.5 and longer the K burr is recommended.

      I have a K pro and I love it but I use it 65% of the time for aeropress/moka and 35% only for espresso on flair. If only for espresso I'd go for JX Pro or their new J-Max

    Hi! Thanks a lot for your videos, they're helping me choose a manual grinder..
    I'm considering the K-Max, which I believe has similar steps to K-Plus (0.022mm per click). I think this is fairly similar to the Commandante C40 without Redclix (am I right?). Yet I keep seeing 'the C40 is not great for dialling in an espresso', but I rarely see the same comment for the K-Plus.
    I don't intend to start making precision coffee, but I want to be sure I'm getting somewhere close to the ideal grain size for a given coffee when making espresso (especially for this money).
    Do you think the Kplus (KMax) can meet this need? Or should I be looking at the JMax? (or something else...?)
    (Note, I do intend to drink french press and pour over as well hence the reason the K range is more appealing to me)

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neil, Thanks for your question. Sound slike you've done your research and yes, I would recommend the K Series for your brew methods of choice. I haven't used the K-Max before - though am aware it is similar to the K-plus minus the accessories - and the body is the MAX body. I will say - I enjoyed the grip with the K-PLUS over the J-MAX grip for grinding - just a little easier to hold with smaller overall diameter - otherwise I imagine the K-plus and K-Max would be very comparable in performance 👍

      @@AlternativeBrewing Thank you for responding. I've been geeking out over coffee grinders for the last week and your videos are among the best for presentation, clarity and information shared.
      I'm mainly considering the KMax over the KPlus because it seems to be more readily available in Europe so after sales should be easier if I have the misfortune to receive a faulty model.
      Thanks again!

    you say 160 grind size steps; everything else I'm seeing mentions there's only one rotation, meaning 90 or 100 steps? I'm not sure I'm understanding

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found there to be 1.5 rotations - so I can start at 0 - go past it again and land on 6, which would be 16 large set numbers, and 10 adjustments between each of these = 160.
