I remember seeing the Gantz game trailer in the bonus features of the Gantz DVD volumes I bought. I hated that it never got localized because I was so hyped to play it.
Same here! Such a shame it never made it here!
The game sucked though, so it doesn't matter.
I'm not sure if they ever thought of redoing some of these game's it might be interesting to see how they come out🤔🌜

@@nvk1425 The game is only okey. The problem, at least for me, is that the gameplay is repetitive, the controls on the Metal Slug are poor, the graphics are awful for a PS2 game that came out in 2006 and camera system is bad.
I personally love Metal Slug series, never knew they made 3d game of it, I would definitely love to play it looks fun, thanks again TVGS for another great list ✌️

Excellent content, I might end up getting Ibara, looks really good!! Another two games worth mentioning are:
1) Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Space shooter developed by none other than Sega AM2. Awesome, awesome game. And there's a walkthrough by IGN that includes most of the plot translated to English.
2) The Typing Of The Dead 2 - Zombie Panic: A PS2 port of the arcade game with some additional content. Trouble is, the conversion is bad, with lots of slowdown. Very decent, but definitely not the best port. And there's an option to type the kanjis with western letters, which makes the game playable. A great collector's item, nonetheless. Specially if combined with a fancy Logitech Netplay keyboard. It works really well.

Metal Slug 3D exists! Damn I wouldn't mind to play on ps4 with those graphics but wish now for a remake of this ! Thanks for sharing the news of the series that i played on arcade machines back day , wasted hundreds of coins just to ressurect myself and keep going haha xD

Metal Slug was a discovery as some other games too, great video. And man, PS2 library can't stop surprising me so many years later. it's immense. By the way some games for the same subject - Pop'n Music series on PS2, also Guitar Freaks , and as usual it was again idiot Konami which was sitting on a gold mine since PS1 era with those series, and never thought about exporting those great games, so all the fame went to Rock Band and Guitar Heroes etc other western games which used the concept of those Konami games popular in arcades as well in Japan.
Also there's COWBOY BEBOP: TSUIOKU NO SERENADE which never left Japan, and Front Mission 5 ( which in the end got a decent fan translation) which never left Japan.
Oh I love the Steambot movie and I am glad to know a game about it exist :)

This series is great! I'd love to see a 3rd episode, especially with games involving little to no English barrier.
I remember playing Metal Slug 3D when I was kid and almost finished it without understanding anything
The entire game is in English.
I played that Gantz game! PS2 was so good for anime games. I also remember having played a Rurouni Kenshin game, a Saikyou No Deshi Kenichi game and the best Hajime no Ippo game ever. The good old times when you could just download the games burn them to a disc and play.

There are several great anime games on the Ps2, that´s why I love it so much. Like the Blood+ or Jojo series, even Cowboy Bebop has its game, Rurouni Kenshin, F. M. Alchemist, the list is endless.

I might replay Metal Slug 3D being more experienced than last time. The only thing that I remember about the game was cheesing the final boss by jumping in and out of the Super Vehicle to avoid death

Code age seems like it's built on the Kingdom Hearts 2 engine
Dance Summit dropped the ball by not having Eddie Gordo/Tiger as an unlockable or even cameo dancer
Am I the only one who noticed a pun in the occasional frame-drops when the action *heats up* in Steamboy? XD
Code Age Commanders looks interesting to me, though. I hope there will eventually be a translation for it.
A great PS2 JPN game to check out is D.N.A which is a hybrid of Silent Bomber and MGS
Kamiwaza is getting a remaster on Switch and PS4 later this year. Pretty deep cut to get a localization so many years later.

I remember actually playing Metal Slug 3D on our old PS2 :0 I dont remember if it was translated or not tho
altho there was this game battle stadium D.O.N which we actually played untranslated so we never actually got to unlock the other characters in it cuz we couldnt read japanese xD

The entire super robot wars franchise pre international and OG era
the aura gauges in Fist of the northstar is just super attacks, not fatal instant kill moves in guilty gear. To do a fatal kill attack, you must first deplete all 7 blue blocks under opponents health gauge before gaining access to the fatal kill move. And of course you must land it. If you miss or it gets blocked then the opponent gains 3 blocks and you will have to deplete them again. Hitting with certain moves depletes these blue blocks. Counter hits with these moves depletes 2.
I had to correct the tittle of your video. because, I got copy of Metal Slug 3D in Indonesia. pirated version indeed, but, its 'left Japan'. and so with the King of Fighters.
Wow, that Gantz game looks pretty good, gotta check it out. And I actually enjoyed Metal Slug 3D. Have you played Code of the Samurai? It wasn't released in the US, though it did get an european release. Really original battle mechanics. And I also recommend Simple 2000 Series Vol. 105: The Maid-fuku to Kikanjuu, if you haven't covered it already.

some awesome dude ripped the hokuto no ken characters , stages, etc and made them all available for everyone to make their own mugen version of that game.those were the first ever HD characters in any mugen.
Still no Berserk Millennium Empire Arc: Chapter of the Holy Demon War? I'm kinda disapointed but i hope for part 3 :)

I'm a tried and true die hard gamer since the 80s and have never taken a break from it in my 40 years on Earth. But I was today years old when I first heard of Metal Slug 3D!!! Wtf??? How has this slipped by me all these years?

In my opinion I would love another 3D metal slug because i found it more fun than the others because it was different all the mission where really fun and great,for me it's like the two 3D games of advance wars more fun than the original

The PS2 is the gift that keeps on giving and is hard to estimate how many games the system actually got, especially the ones left in Japan.
Stuff like Future GPX Cyber Formula, Generation of Chaos, Blood+, several Super Robot Wars games, Summon Night, Garo, Ikkitousen, Battlestadium DON, Tales of Rebirth, Battle Gear 3, Heavy Metal Thunder (the title alone is too awesome), Remote Control Dandy, Sengoku Basara, etc etc etc.
(Yeah, we got the first Sengoku Basara renamed "Devil Kings", also the only one we got on the PS2. BUT that one is a disgrace since its heavily censored. Just play the japanese version of the first game)

good games i played all of them except Kamiwaza gonna buy that soon. Glad someone knew Ibara.... Yeah the game is a kind of built on the "war of the roses" premise hence why all the women are different rose types.

the only problem with these game is it's in japanese but some of them were translated in english and available in our country
I'll say this much, as someone who has lived in Japan before and used to buy random Japanese games for many consoles, a lot of these didn't leave Japan because they are kusoge aka shit games. Everything is pretty much trash aka kusoge.
There's so many games on PS2 that many Americans don't know about, but god damn do so many of them suck. However, I did notice the video creator used a song from ChainDive, which I think it probably one of the dopest PS2 games that never got localized.
