    But some lawyers say that the I-94 is the only document that allows to stay or requires you leave the country.

    Hello. I am an International Visitor sponsored by the US DoS. I would like to make use of the grace period. However, in the program I am participating, they say that I must return to my home country with the flight they bought for me, which is even 15 days before the official end date issued in the DS-2019.
    Does this requirement of them supersede the grace period law?
    Thanks!

      Hello. Normally, I would say you are still entitled to your 30 day grace period but if your sponsor is the DoS themselves, I would adhere by their rules. I suggest you contact them again and request to change your flight or book your own flight since you should be entitled to use the time on your DS-2019 form and 30 days after. Good luck!

    Hello!! If I'm entering to the U.S with a J-1 Visa 22 days earlier than my job start date, should I fill a form or something?

    • @j-1visaconsulting258
      @j-1visaconsulting258  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Simonet. You don't have to complete any special form to enter the U.S. as J-1 visa holders have 30 days prior to the start date to enter. Make sure to inform your sponsor once you do arrive.

    Hello, thank you for your kind video. and got one
    So If I have exchange student visa ( J1 ) from 8/1 ~ 12/1, that means I can stay in the US from 7/1 to 1/1, from start till the end fully . is that right? which means I have extra 60 days more than visa?

      Hello. Correct, you enter the U.S. up to 30 days before and must depart the U.S. no later than 30 days after your program ends.

    Hello, I’ve veiwed some of your previous videos and they’re very helpful 🙂. I’m starting a J1 Trainee program in June and plan to travel for 29 days before my start date. My sponsor agency are adamant that I am only entitled to a total of 30 days grace period no matter what side of my program I take them. This is contrary to things I’ve read and what I’m taking from this video, as they are telling me I don’t get 30 days before and 30 days after my program. E.g. because I’m using 29 days before my program starts, they say I need to leave the U.S the day after my program ends. This would total to the 30 days. Does this sound correct and am I entitled to 30 days at each side, or is this more of an agency decision?
    Many thanks

      Hello Andrew. Thanks for watching my videos! This most certainly sounds like an agency decision and not a federal regulation. All J-1 visa programs have a 30 day grace period before the program starts AND a 30 day grace period after the program ends as well, including Trainees too. You are entitled to this as a J-1 visa holder from the U.S. Department of State. I suggest you ask your sponsor agency more about this and why they are so insistent. Good luck!

      Hi I have a similar situation, I arrived on the 30th of May in the US, my program started on June 7th and ended on the 10th of August and my grace period ends on the 9th of September according to my agency. However, my return ticket is on the 15 of September and there’s no way for me to change it and buying a new one will cost me a lot. Does returning on the 15 implies over staying ?
      Can you please advise on this?

    Hi! I have a question.. My j1 visa dates are from May 1st to August 20th, does that mean I can stay in the US till September 19th or should I leave the 18th?

    • @j-1visaconsulting258
      @j-1visaconsulting258  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. You have 30 days from your end date, which means you can stay until September 18.

    Hello,
    I was on a J1 Camp Counsellor Visa in 2021 (July to September) and stayed for 26 days afterwards in The US (October 26th) but didn't work. I recently went to the US Embassy in Dublin to apply for a B2 Holiday Visa and they gave me a 214(b) denial, due to an overstay on said Visa? Surely this is an oversight on their part, given that my sponsor had allocated both a 30 day grace period pre the start date of my employment and a 30 day grace period after my employment had ended? Can your recommend what steps I need to take to get this sorted. My Sevis record proves I left The US before my grace period ended.
    Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

    How to waive to extend the grace period?

    • @j-1visaconsulting258
      @j-1visaconsulting258  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no waiving of the grace period. It is a federal regulation to have a 30 grace period before and after the J-1 visa program.

    Can I arrive to US after my start date on DS-2019?

    • @j-1visaconsulting258
      @j-1visaconsulting258  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you have 30 days from the start date on your DS-2019 form to enter the U.S. before your status goes to invalid.
