CF Moto 450 please ! It is a bit too far to the dirt side for me (90road 10%dirt rider) BUT maybe I have to become a 50/50 rider instead of finding a 90/10 bike.....never thought along those lines.
BMW, KTM and Triumph have also refused to make a lightweight off road oriented ADV bike with enough power to comfortably cruise on the interstate. They did this to protect the sales of their porky mid and full size ADV bikes. A pox upon them! 😛
I suspect a lot of punters don't need one but they're going to have one. Finally a company that has produced a bike that the masses have been crying out for. Supply will struggle to keep up with demand.
The KOVE and the Ibex. I've never understood why manufacturers have the Dakar to showcase bikes but don't offer a Dakar-esque bike for the masses (not the $30,000.00 KTM clone but a real bike for the masses). Being 63, picking up a fully loaded adventure bike is not high on my "Yeah! Let's do this!" scale. The sub 400 lb, 450 class is very exciting (once we get some reliability data). For now, I'll stick with my, as you mentioned, modified KTM 690 (purchased used so saved some $$ there). Keep up the great content, Ian!
It’ll probably have something to do with the cost of building a bespoke platform for production and the projected profit from that. Car companies share platforms to maximise profit.. have a look at the 390 ADV - its a modded 390 Duke, the T7 shares an engine with a street bike, the CB500X is shared, I could go on. I think it’s remarkable that an Indian company made a complete ground up bespoke ADV bike - the 450 Himalayan! Look at this 450MT - engine and other parts are shared. Companies try to max profit first.
Agreed! I have a Kove 450 because I couldn't easily lift my Tuareg 660 if it was at a bad angle. Feel more confident now that I'm in my 60's if something should go wrong when I'm in the woods. Hoping the reliability is there. Bike seems very well built.
European and Japanese producers outright REFUSED to build a 400-500cc A2 compliant, capable adventure bike, because they wanted customers to buy their more expensive mid range bikes. Now the Chinese will take their money and they will scramble to get something similar. Too little, too late.
Eu and jap motorcycles divide market in a way that if you dont buy the most expensive bike, you feel disapointed, also things like $10k bike and no USB by default is ridicolous, i Hope cfmoto della a shot ton of those
For an economical bike the CFMoto IBex 400 bike is certainly a bike I'd love to see long term testing of. Particularly to see if it holds up mechanically/electrically. Thanks for your work and efforts in bringing us the latest additions to the bike/gear world. Well done Ian!!
It’s amazing it has taken so long for bike manufacturers to get deeply into adventure market. Adventure bikes are definitely the most comfortable riding experience.
Most excited for the CFMoto Ibex 450 and the Kove 800X Rally! These are the bikes we have been asking for! Small displacement ADV and midsize displacement light ADV!
@@chrispekel5709 not really when you compare it with the T700 or others in this class; it’s worth it just for the weight savings alone; it’s all about reliability: if it’s there then it’s a no brainer! If it’s not there yet it will be in a few years! CFMOTO and KOVE will surpass all the competition in 20 years!
I have to say the CF Moto Ibex 450 looks a really well thought out bike. (Update): 4 months and one fantastic test ride later, I have one on order for late July 24 delivery in the UK.
Hey Ian, thanks for the report on AIM! I''m definitely interested in the Kove 450/800, especially the 800 with the low weight, and possibly a 'unicorn.' Can't wait to see your review on them
The Ibex 450 looks very promising , there is not much talk about the real maintenance intervals for the kove450 rally, so maybe it's a heavy enduro bike with lots of fuel capacity, also do to it's seat height it's not for everyone, but I its a great bike and many folks are happy with it and that is what counts.
I’m loving this influx of the Chinese brands blowing the doors open on the motorcycle market! More competition means better products and opportunities for us consumers 🙌🏻
i'm super exited for the CFmoto 450, i love it already, the 270° engine is a necesity today were everyone has a 180° super boring engine... you can have the same horse power yes, but the feeling of a 270° is unique... and only 6.500usd.
@chrispekel5709 but no bikes on the 48hp (A2 euro license) area... that's actually the biggest fuel for smaller adv bikes, without the A2 license and the European market, every bike out there would be a 650 monocyl... in USA for example, the smallest adv bike you could get was or a Chinese 250, or a 650 KLR or DR... at least on my opinion, because you also have the DRZ400 and the Hondas CRF 250 and CRF300 that would exist with or without the A2 license requirements
NO ONE has a mid-light *crosspoane* inline-2 under 200kg except CFMOTO .. KOVE has a *concept* factory modded 800cc ADV-rally bike, 165kg dry .. concept .. but that 450cc *crossplane* .. OOOOOOOH!! @@chrispekel5709
Yep, 180 degree parallel twin is a deal breaker for me. Been riding V-Strom 650's for the past 17 years. Thought I'd move on to the V-Strom 800 RE. A smarter move for my aging bod would be the CFMoto 450MT
@@MrBenHaynes test the 800DE, it feels light and nimble, don't believe too much on what the specs says... the 800DE feels as light as my 790 adventure, and lighter than my GS 800 that is bone stock and that bike weights 185kg dry.
I rode the Ibex450 (it's the MT450 in Australia) and I think it's the way to go [also ridden the Himalayan 450 and that's pretty good as well]. The thing with the Ibex is the twin is so much more smoother at highway speeds, feels more spirited and comes with a whole lot of stuff standard (folding shifter, adjustable windscreen, folding mirrors). During a cost of living crisis, it's a perfect time for the Chinese to bring such a bike to the market, and I am sorry to say, made in the USA just doesn't seem to cut it when after buying the thing you then need to spend a whole bunch more to set if up to go offroad and at 3 times the price of the MTMoto genuine accessories. Presales in Australian of the MT450 (Ibex) and 450 Himalayan have broken records but when I have asked folks why they went with the MT450 the typical response was the 2 cylinders and it comes with all the good bits [mentioned above] stock. It's a shame that Harley didn't release the X500 in Adv format because I think it would have been hugely popular even though not made in the USA, it carries the HD badge which will get most die-hard HD folks over the line as well.
Absolutely interested in both the Ibex and the Kove's! These companies seem so passionate about actually providing what riders want. Really hoping they turn out well as their pricing is attainable.
I am so excited about both the RE 450 and especially the Ibex 450. The Ibex sounds like it will be exactly what I am looking for, if the reliability is good. I am a huge fan of smaller ADV bikes. I love my 2019 500X, but it’s really a street bike in disguise. (Though it gets me everywhere I want to go at 64 years old!) Keep up the great work Ian, your channel is the best!
Really excited for you to get your hands on that CF 450! This market segment is only getting bigger and bigger, so happy to see it grow as it is one of my favorite classes of motos.
Ibex 450 is shaping up to be what so many have wanted from the Japanese makers and I'm glad to see some pressure put on them to improve. I like my CB500X quite a bit but I would be awfully tempted by that, if for the sound alone. Kawasaki can't even be bothered to put their 400 into the Versys-X.
I've wanted a bike like the CF Moto Ibex 450 since the mid 1970s. Many of us have wanted that bike. Why couldn't the big established motorcycle companies sell us that bike? The short answer is, they could have but chose not to in order to protect the sales of their mid and full size ADV bikes. I wish CF Moto every success with the Ibex.
The Ibex450 , just needs a set of barkbusters, metal bash plate, good tires, the price is great …. just need to get one !! hope the aftermarket groups get on board with this one!!
My concern is replacement tyres in the stock sizes if you do a majority of sealed roads. A lot of them seem to be quite aggressive. Bridgestone make a bias ply Battlax BT46 but that's about it. If you're prepared to increase 10mm of width on the rear, a 150/70R18 opens up more choice.
That's a great presentation Ian. I love motorcycle trade expos, but sadly in my country, they're a thing of the past and the interest in motorcycling has dwindled for many reasons. I hope you can acquire the IBEX 450 and the Kove 800 for long term channel reviews. It would make sense for those manufacturers to loan you a bike for the evaluation, as your channel is quite prominent on TH-cam. The build quality of Moto Morini looks really good, but in my part of the world brands like them aren't going to grab much market share, particularly as dealership establishment of the big brands will always win over the smaller brands. Those new Arai helmets look the biz! I love that olive green colored one on the back of the stand at 19:55 . A big thumbs up to SW-Motech for the new pannier construction. Nelson Rigg are right up there too with their unique designs (especially the new universal quick mount plate). What else grabbed your attention at the AIM Expo Ian? Best wishes to you from the south west coast of the island of Australia.
CFMoto’s Ibex 450 sparks the most interest for me since EICMA. Was hoping it would come to our shores. The 270 deg motor and radical tubeless 21/18 wheels are a dream as I have a CB500X now. Also the Stelvio will be awesome. I’ve owned every generation of the Stelvio and they were fantastic bikes. Took one up Imogene Pass. I’ve since downsized from my bike from 1200cc to 500cc but Stelvio’s are always amazing motos!
Thank you, Ian. All good stuff here. The Ibex 450 is intriguing, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of the new Stelio. What a beautiful and well appointed bike. Alas, there isn't a single dealer in all of Alaska, so for now will stick with my 1250 GSA.
Yes, definitely interesting Ian to see these Kove in details as well as the even more exciting (and vetter built?) MT Ibex 450. I am also wondering if you would be interested in having a Stelvio once since you enjoyed the little sister Tuareg.
I noticed the price leveling between the completion for the GS price tag. With this said I am liking the CFMOTO, though look for the big adventure bikes. Thank You for taking us to the show, much cool.
I've pre-ordered a CF MOTO 450 here in Australia. Very good price. Looks well made. Pre-orders here in Australia are very very popular. Id be keen to see you get one and do your detailed review and a build on it. Love your channel.
Glad to finally see the market moving back to more sensible bike sizes. For adventure style riding or exploration riding 4-600cc and under 500lbs is definitely welcome. Looking in the comments of almost every discussion video on the "do it all" bikes, so many have been asking for a smaller lighter twin with good road manners and decent off road capability.
6:55 Hey thats me lol!!! I thought I recognized you when I saw you filming I just didnt put 2 & 2 together that you were Big Rock Moto. I've watched some of your ADV bike reviews. Your long format videos are the best. I will look out for your CFmoto review when you get one. Im thinking about buying an ADV bike someday soon.
I'll jump into the same group who craves the Kove 450 and Ibex 450. However, the sexiest thing here is the MG Stelvio, by a mile. Italian hotness... I feel naughty when I see the Stelvio.... Thanks for the video Ian, we appreciate you and what you do.
"Thank you" Ian for the great coverage of the AIMExpo! Much appreciated from the folks that couldn't get out to the show... You and your channel are crushing it - been watching since the early days. One word of advice for trade shows - wear the most comfortable pair of walking/running shoes in your closet. Those events can leave your dogs barkin'!... All the best moving forward!
Thanks for the great show reviews especially since all the other shows have fallen off the map. Would like to see you do a test of the new BMW GS900 when it’s available and provide a comparison between the 890KTM, Ducati Desert X, and Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Rally Pro.
As much as i like the japanese/european adv bikes, you gotta admit the chinese brands are really coming in hot. giving the people what they asked, light cheap modern. it's gonna be really interesting to see the competition and how the major brands respond
Yes on the Kove 450. You pointed out the dual tanks up front, but forgot the rear gas/water tank at the tail. The CFMoto 450 would be a great addition, as well. More interested in the Kove 450 for long-range desert riding/adventure.
Lots of cool stuff. Had no idea about the Expo. On the books for next year. Appreciate your content and coverage. Owning a Kove 450 rally now, I would encourage you getting one. Extremely pleased with mine. Most people seem to like them. Looking forward to your review on them. Keep up the great work. Great channel!
Have to start somewhere and CFmoto is willing to do it. I own a uforce 600 (no complaints) and really believe that company is going to dominate the powersports world. They listen and constantly improve, all at a honest price. My klx300 is fantastic, but would be very interested in the Ibex.
Hello, Ian. I've been watching your channel for about 2 years, since I joined moto community. I found your reviews the best in terms of depth - both short and long versions. I appreciate your seat height and passenger comfort tests (a lot of thanks to your wife Maggie). Answering your question - I would vote for the ibex 450. In that category, there are not so much to choose from, but in Ukraine, we have one more option, which I assume, unfortunately not available in the USA - Voge 525 dsx. They probably would be very close in price, and less close in specs. Having your long-term review would be so useful and valuable. Many thanks for your content, and I see you out there!
Hi Ian , good question , i would like to keep up with the latest of the bikes ,it interesting to see where things are going . keep up the good work . Steve /Australia
The CFMOTO Ibex 450 is the only bike I'm really interested in right now. A couple years ago I sold my bigger adventure bike and got a super cheap used Versys X-300 that I dont feel bad about riding hard and dropping it. I've had a ton of fun on it riding the TAT and lots of offroad time. I dont really need more than the 40ish hp range but having that same hp with the torque, and sound of the 270 degree crank would be a plus!
Ibex 450 - lots of interest. My channel is dedicated to the Kawasaki Versys X300 and the X300 owners have been asking for a X400 for over 4 years. Upgrading the X300 to the X400 (again - with the borrowed Ninja 400 engine) would sell. We know that but Kawasaki ignores this market and now the Chinese will take it by horns and own it. Kawasaki had their chance for years to get this done and now will be a "me to" / catch up bike down the road. The new Kawasaki 450 engine that recently came out should have immediately been put in a Versys X450 with upgrades to the suspension, movable windshield, increased suspension travel of 3 or more inches, more ground clearance and a disabled switch for the ABS (sounds like the Ibex - yup ! )

Can't wait for the Ibex.
Damn that Stelvio is sick! Also, I am really impressed by the CF Moto 450, hopefully it goads the other manufacturers to follow suit.
That new Suzuki is so sick to me, like a BMW S1000XR competitor
That ibex450 looks super awesome!
Love them all! Beautiful bikes ….
Remember when the AIM Expo used to draw huge crowds..?
Looks like nobody was there- maybe just the time of day he was there?
I've pre-ordered a CF MOTO 450 here in Australia. Very good price. Looks well made. Pre-orders here in Australia are very very popular. Id be keen to see you get one and do your detailed review and a build on it. Love your channel.
Im in oz WA did you pre order the Ibex450 ? If so how much and when does it get here .TIA
MT@@jktl1000s I did mate. We call it the450 MT I think. My pre order price is $8995
Glad to finally see the market moving back to more sensible bike sizes.
Killer video. Very informative, thanks a bunch.
I'll jump into the same group who craves the Kove 450 and Ibex 450. However, the sexiest thing here is the MG Stelvio, by a mile. Italian hotness... I feel naughty when I see the Stelvio.... Thanks for the video Ian, we appreciate you and what you do.
The same thing happened with the Nk800, SrS450 and Clc450... CFMoto is simply sweeping the market. Good, quality, technological and cheap motorcycles.
Kove 800 X Adventure Pro and 800 X Rally
Thanks for the great show reviews especially since all the other shows have fallen off the map.
Would like to see you do a test of the new BMW GS900 when it’s available and provide a comparison between the 890KTM, Ducati Desert X, and Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Rally Pro.
CF 450 looking hard at that bike.
As much as i like the japanese/european adv bikes, you gotta admit the chinese brands are really coming in hot. giving the people what they asked, light cheap modern. it's gonna be really interesting to see the competition and how the major brands respond
That CF Moto is going to kill the small displacement adv game. I hope they can get good dealers and parts distribution
Cf moto 450. Looks good
The Ibex 450 is going to be a very popular bike
Thank you Ian for showing the new bikes, loved seeing the new adventure bikes under 500cc, Looking forward to the new Triumphs.
Man between Kove and CFmoto they are killing it. Why aren’t the other manufacturers trying to please the consumer? I’m in for the Ibex for sure.
Yes also interested in cf moto mt450 👍👍👍👍
KOVE 450 Rally and CFMOTO Ibex deserve a thorough review for sure!
Whatever you review is what I will watch. Best in the business Ian.
KTM 1290 SAS.
You asked for it - and you are the best!!
Anything you can say about it, anything from a 10 min testdrive and up...
Glory to Ukraine and glory to the Heroes.👍👍❤️
@@joeybobbie1 Glory forever!
Hi Ian , good question , i would like to keep up with the latest of the bikes ,it interesting to see where things are going . keep up the good work . Steve /Australia
Great video. I feel like I was there. Lots of interesting motos and gear coming.
I'm looking forward to the Ibex 450. Looks to be more capable than the upcoming Honda NX 500.
I am totally enjoying this series on the KLX300. Thanks for putting this together
A lot of great looking bikes. The moto morini corsaro is pure eye candy.
The new Kawasaki 450 engine that recently came out should have immediately been put in a Versys X450 with upgrades to the suspension, movable windshield, increased suspension travel of 3 or more inches, more ground clearance and a disabled switch for the ABS (sounds like the Ibex - yup ! )
*CF Moto ibex For me* If I can comfortably sit on it it's a definite buy 😊
