Holy moley, that's insane. My old GTIR had about 270-280bhp and I thought it was quick. I then drove my mate's with around 400-450bhp -admitedly, running a less than ideal map at the time- which was mental. I can only imagine what this car must feel like when accelerating hard. Nice to see an ITG filter in there too. ;-)
Incredibly fast ! Don't find the complete setup on your website... Where can I find more about your setup? It seems to spool really early even with that GT35!
neil infinity gearbox can handle the power or dog, great car nice vid too,my best friend here in greece has a gtir front wheel drive with garrett gt35 and 710hp at 2bar without vp import powered by gtr racing tuning
nice car....my best friend has a sunny gti with gtir engine over 700hp at 2 bar with garrett gt3540..... gearbox grom infinity and no problem with that...sorry for my english
@pulsar540 I've had mine (same one) 8.5years and have had very few problems with it. (p/s pump, radiator and hoses mainly) I only have 300bhp though. I do have 4pots but don't rate them much over the standard brakes. Data logging shows they stop in the same distance but will lock up easier and I'd expect them to be more consistant over many stops than the standard brakes. I'm still waiting for your times over the 1/4 ;)
I meant the hubs inside the gearbox . It appeared similar to synchromesh failure so I thought it was but it was the hubs. But im not saying the hubs are weak, in fact its quite rare any part of these gearboxs can go I def agree about the bottom end but I was talking about my experience only. Yes it is no different to upping the power with any other car with a standard gearbox but that doesnt make it OK to ignore. Mine is white, off road atm but runs 350+bhp on full boost
Yer Im the same. Id rather replace the standard when it goes about 1k a go incl fitting but prob cheaper. As far as clutch, would you reccomend an organic one. Racing might be putting too much stratin onthe gear box?
@damnusename so the bottom end is weak too? Theres more big end rattles than blown boxes but of course that would'nt be down to how the cars been driven would it? Thing is some people are just better off taking the bus
@kyledagg Is that with a stock gearbox? Im wanting to get a pulsar and run around 300-350bhp but am put off with all these gearbox problems people seem to have.
@pulsar540 so what Gtir are you driving and what times/power does it do? I've know loads of Gtirs blow the box, wether gearset or gearcase. Having said that I'm still on the origional box despite thrashing it.
@psa16v How so? Do you know of any conversion kits or was it just a custom job? I'm very interested in knowing b/c i've been looking for transmission alternatives...
@pulsar540 You've lost me. Where did I mention bottom end? The bottom end on our cars is pretty good if properly maintained. I've heard of a few thrown rods, but way more blown gearboxes. PS Still wanting to know what times/power your gtir has done.
@damnusename I've had 4 pulsars over the last 10 years and to be honest everything i get in is driven very hard 100% of the time, to date i've not had a problem in almost 20 years of driving on the road. The only thing that wont hold up for me is brakes. Unless i have over 300bhp i dont have call for brakes, i use the engine and box and have had no problems, keep your 4 pot calipers, they only slow you down lol.
@kyledagg You show me one standard Gtir gearbox that's survived 600bhp, excluding the fact there's probably less than 6 600bhp Gtirs in the whole world. I bet none of them are on the standard box because they know they won't last or have already killed them. They are pot luck as to how long they last.
I owned a 1986 Pulsar NX, that was bad ass! Was running 15 inch rims, 70 horsepower, it spent more time in the shop getting fixed the me driving it! hahaha that was a piece of shit! This car is pretty sick tho!
GTIR gearbox's are better than most lead to believe. Name another mass produced 2 litre turbo car which has a gearbox that can take the punishment of 600 hp totally reliably all day long? None. Mine's 20 years old and owned it foe 11 years. No problems at all with the gearbox. I have about 320 - 330HP.
It is my buddys car, dont know the specs on the engine, other wise, GT35, Cams, AMS performance head, bigger injectors, 2 1/2" piping, large intercooler, stand alone ECU, 3" exh, VP import,
@damnusename i drive fast road, i dont do straight line, i leave that to the people with deep pockets. Times are down to the driver more so than power, you can have all the bhp and torque in the world but without the correct tuning your going nowhere fast, bolting aftermarket parts on does'nt make a fast car. I had a pulsar running 330bhp @ 1.3 bar on standard pistons and top mount intercooler backed up with all the correct quality (not ebay) aftermarket parts to make a strong andreliable engine
@damnusename Your quite right, Read my msg again coz you mis read my point.I guess i could have made that a bit clearer. What I mean't was, show me another equivalent car like a Evo Wrx on a stock factory gearbox which can handle 600HP reliably...... I guess some one might luck out for a short time but they all enevitably fail. This comment was made in response to People comments that gtir gearboxes are weak... cheers
Why would I lie about having one, dont be childish. Look, I REALLY hope you are right. But in my experience and all the people I know's experience the gearbox's are a weak point. It helps if you dont dump the clutch but the hubs went on mine twice. I can only speak from experience. If you have some tips Im willing to listen
@1madaboutguitar Yes you get a lot of boy racers driving pulsars being a shopping hatch. Laguna splitters, gtr badges and big wheels that just put more strain on the drive train and worsen handling. Thing is most folks know fuck all about cars or how to drive them. People just want power and looks and the last thing that enters their mind is reliability. The japanese respect cars and know how to tune them, when they leave japan most are destined for poor tuning modifications and pure abuse
Im not wrong fella. Ask anyone who knows these cars well and they will confirm what Ive said. I also have one around 350 bhp and its munched 2 gearboxes in less than 6000 miles. The gearboxes are a REAL weak point. You are lucky to be running over 350 bhp and had no problem with gearbox in 3 years, unless you been driving like a pussy but i doubt that somehow
@pulsar540 So , what your saying is the reason why Pulsar munch gearboxes and other 4wd turbo card dont is purely because only shit drivers drive Pulsar's? Nice logic mate
this thing is impressive and gets through those gears insanely fast. GOOD JOB
Holy moley, that's insane. My old GTIR had about 270-280bhp and I thought it was quick. I then drove my mate's with around 400-450bhp -admitedly, running a less than ideal map at the time- which was mental. I can only imagine what this car must feel like when accelerating hard. best pulsar ive ever seen!!!!!!!
Incredibly fast !

sexiest pulsar on the internett. i got a pulsar with gt3071r but this things sounds maniac

The Nissan is now runnning a complet Mits Evo gearbox, transfercase & rear diff !
@psa16v
Is there some pics or movies of the new setupwith evo gearbox?
I meant the hubs inside the gearbox . It appeared similar to synchromesh failure so I thought it was but it was the hubs. But im not saying the hubs are weak, in fact its quite rare any part of these gearboxs can go
I def agree about the bottom end but I was talking about my experience only.
Yes it is no different to upping the power with any other car with a standard gearbox but that doesnt make it OK to ignore. Mine is white, off road atm but runs 350+bhp on full boost
Any more videos of this????
Out of interest, are there any videos of this car in action?
Yer Im the same. Id rather replace the standard when it goes about 1k a go incl fitting but prob cheaper. As far as clutch, would you reccomend an organic one. Racing might be putting too much stratin onthe gear box?
@damnusename so the bottom end is weak too? Theres more big end rattles than blown boxes but of course that would'nt be down to how the cars been driven would it? Thing is some people are just better off taking the bus
any new videos of this beast ??
Cheers dude. As far as the gearbox casing, what mods did you do?
@kyledagg Is that with a stock gearbox? Im wanting to get a pulsar and run around 300-350bhp but am put off with all these gearbox problems people seem to have.

any idea how he mounted a evo gearbox to the sr20 ?
@psa16v How so? Do you know of any conversion kits or was it just a custom job?
I'm very interested in knowing b/c i've been looking for transmission alternatives...
@psa16v
How did he get an evo box to fit a gtir?
@pulsar540 You've lost me. Where did I mention bottom end? The bottom end on our cars is pretty good if properly maintained. I've heard of a few thrown rods, but way more blown gearboxes.
PS Still wanting to know what times/power your gtir has done.
Are you sure its just the casing. Can you tell me what mods you have done to the casing please?
kchrist tell me more about that box in your mates car and were can i find one please
@damnusename I've had 4 pulsars over the last 10 years and to be honest everything i get in is driven very hard 100% of the time, to date i've not had a problem in almost 20 years of driving on the road. The Pulsar is now up for sale. the price is 200,00 ddk.
@kyledagg You show me one standard Gtir gearbox that's survived 600bhp, excluding the fact there's probably less than 6 600bhp Gtirs in the whole world. front mount?
Fmic... yes !
mod list too long to list, the car is making 1100hp at crank right now
I dont know, Jack is using the Pulsar for drag..
classic
Yer my standard clutch is heavy enough lol. I think I might go for organic as a comprimise.
GTIR gearbox's are better than most lead to believe. Name another mass produced 2 litre turbo car which has a gearbox that can take the punishment of 600 hp totally reliably all day long? None. @Niel.. Standard gearbox..Exedy clutch..
vvl engine?
It is my buddys car, dont know the specs on the engine, other wise, GT35, Cams, AMS performance head, bigger injectors, 2 1/2" piping, large intercooler, stand alone ECU, 3" exh, VP import,
anythings pretty much possible with the right garage doing the job and enough cash, ive seen 3 cylinder cars making over 600 bhp to the wheels
nicst plusar iv ever seen!
New numbers.. 2,0 bar 675 crank Hp !
First drag race saturday, the trans exploded !!!
:-(
A new dogbox is on its way..

Almost ANY part of the standard GTI-R gearbox will shred over 250 bhp
I want it
