    my parents basically raised me to be an android that exists to obey and regurgitate the correct opinions and no form of individuality was allowed so this hits home

      Also don't feel discouraged if you don't click with your therapist. For most people it takes going to several therapists to find the one they're comfortable with.

      Ikr..whenever I watch Anna's videos I usually think that therapy sounds like such a good idea. You could unlearn so many horrible habits and get a healthier mindspace.

    Some good advice here. The best part was that we generally really do know what we need but just don't do it. I know I need to not eat unhealthy foods. Procrastinating will only make things worse. I hate my job and should quit but, etc. etc.

    Self betrayal is a HUGE thing in the book: The Anatomy of Peace, it’s one of the best books I’ve read and many others have also told me this. It’s about conflict management. I’m sure you’ll love it!

    This was the case in my childhood. Under the control of patriarchy and motherhood, I unknowingly developed the habit of pleasing others, and habitually made myself into another person to obtain "love". Some bad PUAs now make use of this kind of self-awareness and weak self-awareness. Some of my current experiences also tell me that excessively catering to others may not necessarily be respected or cherished by others. A truly charismatic personality is an independent personality.

    I love that two of these self-love behaviors are at cross-purposes. It demonstrates the real-life varieties that exist from day to day decisions and the importance of listening to your self-needs as they exist, and not the overarching expectations of long-term goals.
