Don't let Microsoft fool you by them presenting a truly insanely bad version of Recall first only to roll it back. Literally any version of this is awful. This is them using the tactic of showing people an even worse version of something really bad first so that their still bad thing doesn't look so egregious to people in comparison. If they really listened to feedback they'd just drop the project.
Who asked for an "AI" powered anything that takes screenshots of my daily use? Pretty sure no one. Again, most consumer facing AI is created to solve something nobody asked for.
Ask not what Microsoft can do for you. Ask what you can do for Microsoft. Modern business models of proprietary software service companies (cloud providers) are not made to improve peoples life or give them what they want. They are made to make people behave like the company wants and make people dependent on the company. It's the job of the marketing department and product designers to make people believe it's all to their own benefit.
Honestly, the Mozilla stumbles made me switch to LibreWolf. I don't want to be "surprised" like that by my browser nor treated as a feckless dumbass by its developers. :P
Audited, end-to-end encrypted, to me I just can't trust Microsoft/Windows, I don't think there's anything that could convince me otherwise. Linux is private and FOSS by default, and I believe open source privacy measures are the future. I don't want to trust audits or rely on big corpo, it has to be open source + audited to have any trust in encryption, especially when talking about these massive tech companies that directly benefit off your data (the amount of telemetry by default with Windows is enough evidence for that). Open source projects tend to lead to better or comparable results (MPV, OBS, LibreOffice, qBitTorrent, etc.), and the best part: no subscription or price attached. The more we support Linux/FOSS the better tech will get imo.
I fully expect that they are lying and that they are intentionally siphoning off private information onto their servers. They are that greedy and that crazy.
Honestly, since linux gaming is getting insanely good everyday. I personally have a hard time finding a reason to use windows. Even with games I like that use some form of kernel level Anti Cheat, I just use a console for those games. Not a perfect solution but it works for me. Windows needs to step up lol
In my case, i... simply don't play those games... I mean kernel level anticheat doesn't work very well, because cheaters simply use external methods to cheat in games by routing their signals through a separate computer before the signals go to the gameserver. This is why, despite kernel level anticheat, the amount of cheaters online has increased by an insane amount over the last decade. On the other hand, games with server-side anticheat like tf2, overwatch, world of warcraft, etc, has so few cheaters it brings kernel level anticheat to shame, lol. Yeah i can live without hunt showdown and deceive inc... There's other things to play.
Consider tech companies make a fortune selling your data, its in their interest for you to have recall. These limiting features, biometric security.....personally i dont believe them.
The original announcement of Recall made me sell my Microsoft stocks. Windows is such a large part of the company that if they persist with ending its usability it will gimp the whole company
Experian monitoring is worse than worthless. The alerts are unintelligible, and all requests for aid appear to go to young Filipinas who have no English skills. The "alerts" appear designed to just make customers think a job is being done.
I just checked the desktop market share statistics, and windows seems to have been on a downward trend since 2009. I'm amazed they haven't learned that the reason for that is because they keep inconveniencing windows users with more and more bloat, more and more features nobody asked for, less and less performance because of all this bloat, etc. Microsoft would instantly reclaim their 98% market share if they just released a no-nonsense, ethical version of windows, with 0 bloat, only necessities, and no forced features.
This should not be available on ANY operating system... that's the problem... I want this gone. I switched to Linux, just in time to avoid ever having something this ridiculous on my computer. Now i'm not even sure if i'm ever going to go back to windows, lol... Linux has been a very positive experience for me!
In short, the Linux RCE really isn't that bad, it only affects Linux servers configured with printing services, which aren't enabled by default on Debian, Ubuntu, or RHEL. Desktop Linux also isn't affected unless you have setup the printing services yourself.
I just switched to Linux, quitting windows cold-turkey. Linux has been a positive experience for me so far, comes with a bunch of cool s**t as well, like a "Free TV" app, and Torrent client (Transmission)... I would've swapped sooner if i knew Linux was THIS awesome. xD I've had no problems with gaming either, though i planned to to just quit kernel anticheat games altogether, despite being able to play like 50% of anticheat games, i've decided to put this limitation on myself, simply because kernel level anticheat isn't working very well, and that the invasion of privacy isn't worth it for a method that is ineffective. : / Kernel anticheat has had about a decade to prove its worth now, and it has failed. Devs need to go back to server-side anticheat and stop being lazy.
EEA = European Economic Area. It's a group of nations, including most or all of the EU, that have certain agreements relating to international trade between them.
i'm happy to stay on computer that incapable of AI. for elon's twitter situation, elon already caused havoc on twitter and it doesn't enough. he want more damage to the point where it closed forever/forcefully.
I feel like i have to use bitlocker instead of veracrypt for my FDE - because of its auto unlock on boot - which i have to use as i neeed to reboot my computer remotely sometimes and also wake from sleep magic packets - does anyone know if there is a way to get veracrypt to do the same thing? even a usb unlock drive key would work for me in this situation. - id love to move fully to VC but that one thing stops me.
Surly all they would have to do is add a "mark as recall senstivive" option to the righjt click menu on folders / files - not quite sure how they would do that on every browser though for websites thougjh.
its M$ they can say we did this but the password is save somewhere that any one who looks for it in plainsight hope its not cd key+ serial combo , ill give it a year or so or less the said protection is already gone someone found a way to uninstall it or replace the password with hid own user inputed password
"Linux Experiment Podcast", uhuuu, i'm glad you quoted that video. That channel looks too geek, too nerdy, too childish, i dunno, but I liked it and I'm subscribed to it. 😀

Not even once.
I said it would be back. M$ obviously see a money value in this information. It's, a, bad, idea.
microsoft's huge oversights when first launching recall were completely disqualifying
I'll STILL have it removed when I do a reinstall of the OS. "removed" I would NOT sacrifice my disk space for that spyware.
Who asked for an "AI" powered anything that takes screenshots of my daily use? Pretty sure no one.
Again, most consumer facing AI is created to solve something nobody asked for.
Now now, their investors asked for it in order to steal information to sell.
It's a needlessly complex solution looking for a [nonexistent] problem to solve.
Ask not what Microsoft can do for you. Ask what you can do for Microsoft.

Which key do they have? If they have access to both keys…
I fully expect that they are lying and that they are intentionally siphoning off private information onto their servers. They are that greedy and that crazy.
I swapped to linux about a week ago, it's been a positive experience for me so far! Now i'm unsure if i'll ever swap back to windows, lol.
It will NEVER be good enough.
8:24 And of course an upgrade would *never* install it again and activate it. No way. That could never happen. Ever. Nope. Can't happen.
It also can't ever suddenly decide that it would be useful to keep a copy of all that information in the cloud. Just for safety, of course.
Now more than ever it's time to switch to Linux !!!

Helldivers 2 shows that even that sort of anti-cheat can work on Linux - currently playing on Arch. Actually made me start gaming on 🐧.

Invest in Linux. ;)
MS has historically missed so many obvious use-cases in their development process. It's been mind-boggling to me for eons.
Recall is a security risk no matter what
Experian monitoring is worse than worthless. The alerts are unintelligible, and all requests for aid appear to go to young Filipinas who have no English skills. The "alerts" appear designed to just make customers think a job is being done.
Microsoft : The back door is now a Barn Door . Also .. Trust us .👀

You guys really believe what Microsoft is saying.
We also believe Linux have so many vulnerabilities and still use it.
Don't judge.
Change to , it's more secure!
@@muhammadyusoffjamaluddin There's a difference between having vulnerabilities that need fixing, and... INTENTIONALLY INSTALLING MORE VULNERABILITIES!
Recall should be uninstalled by default
This should not be available on ANY operating system... that's the problem... I want this gone.

I stand by my statements when it came up. When I even think my machines could get recall, that's the day I switch to Linux.
Staying with 7 and 10-with the NSA’s “updates” off-on some machines, and migrating to Linux on others.
_Recall this: ..i.._
I just switched to Linux, quitting windows cold-turkey.

Device encryption = Windows home + Microsoft account. Bitlocker = Windows Pro
There can never be anything good when the feature is invading the privacy. So "not good enough" is not even enough.
Now come on bruh, u really wearing a Proton shirt agghhh lol.

Boy oh boy, am I ever happy I have been running Linux full time since 2015.
You were ahead of your time, boeh! 🤠
Why are they trying to force this on us 🙁
Can someone explain to what exactly recall is supposed to do that I want?
This is becoming a must listen every time it comes out
It'll be good when they scrap it

so certification centres need to finally embrace Linux. No way they'll let you attend an exam if your OS is set to screenshot everything you do :)

Brave does have an additional data collection setting turned on by default even when you turn off the other one during setup.
Ok so do i switch to Librewolf or Brave?
Windows Recall...Yea.... no fu---- way. No.
Where's the link for jmp? Did they forgot to add it?
Looks like I moved to Linux just in time XD
No one even asked for this
