    Don't let Microsoft fool you by them presenting a truly insanely bad version of Recall first only to roll it back. Literally any version of this is awful. This is them using the tactic of showing people an even worse version of something really bad first so that their still bad thing doesn't look so egregious to people in comparison. If they really listened to feedback they'd just drop the project.

      I wouldn't even be surprised if in the future people forget or get comfortable with this they silently update the same original settings or worse. That's just how these people work.

    I just checked the desktop market share statistics, and windows seems to have been on a downward trend since 2009.
    I'm amazed they haven't learned that the reason for that is because they keep inconveniencing windows users with more and more bloat, more and more features nobody asked for, less and less performance because of all this bloat, etc.
    Microsoft would instantly reclaim their 98% market share if they just released a no-nonsense, ethical version of windows, with 0 bloat, only necessities, and no forced features.

    Honestly, since linux gaming is getting insanely good everyday. I personally have a hard time finding a reason to use windows. Even with games I like that use some form of kernel level Anti Cheat, I just use a console for those games. Not a perfect solution but it works for me. Windows needs to step up lol

    • @Slugbunny
      @Slugbunny 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Helldivers 2 shows that even that sort of anti-cheat can work on Linux - currently playing on Arch. Actually made me start gaming on 🐧.

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In my case, i... simply don't play those games... I mean kernel level anticheat doesn't work very well, because cheaters simply use external methods to cheat in games by routing their signals through a separate computer before the signals go to the gameserver.
      This is why, despite kernel level anticheat, the amount of cheaters online has increased by an insane amount over the last decade.
      On the other hand, games with server-side anticheat like tf2, overwatch, world of warcraft, etc, has so few cheaters it brings kernel level anticheat to shame, lol.
      Yeah i can live without hunt showdown and deceive inc... There's other things to play.

    Audited, end-to-end encrypted, to me I just can't trust Microsoft/Windows, I don't think there's anything that could convince me otherwise. Linux is private and FOSS by default, and I believe open source privacy measures are the future. I don't want to trust audits or rely on big corpo, it has to be open source + audited to have any trust in encryption, especially when talking about these massive tech companies that directly benefit off your data (the amount of telemetry by default with Windows is enough evidence for that).
    Open source projects tend to lead to better or comparable results (MPV, OBS, LibreOffice, qBitTorrent, etc.), and the best part: no subscription or price attached. The more we support Linux/FOSS the better tech will get imo.

      I switched to Linux close to a month ago and I ran into some first time setup issues but once that was all sorted, it was and has been smooth sailing. I’m still dual booting because I have one game that I play that doesn’t work natively on Linux but aside from that, everything I do can be done on Linux. I just switched to Linux, quitting windows cold-turkey.
      Linux has been a positive experience for me so far, comes with a bunch of cool s**t as well, like a "Free TV" app, and Torrent client (Transmission)... I would've swapped sooner if i knew Linux was THIS awesome. xD
      I've had no problems with gaming either, though i planned to to just quit kernel anticheat games altogether, despite being able to play like 50% of anticheat games, i've decided to put this limitation on myself, simply because kernel level anticheat isn't working very well, and that the invasion of privacy isn't worth it for a method that is ineffective. : /
      Kernel anticheat has had about a decade to prove its worth now, and it has failed.
      Devs need to go back to server-side anticheat and stop being lazy.

    Coincidentally, an Australian company just released an update on approved, or more specifically not approved, BYOD devices.
    Two main changes regarding security concers are :
    Windows 11 devices running on ARM / Snapdragon etc. and Windows 11 in general is not recommended unless special requirements due to stability and security issues.
    Apple IOS is not supported generally and not recommended due to security concerns.
    Primary supported computer OS is Redhat or equivalent, but other Linux distros can be used.
    Numerous companies, especially any dealing with security etc are concerned on the AI and data collection the big companies are pushing.
