I can’t begin to thank you! I bought a cookie cutter of my sweet dog to make cookies for our wedding reception and was only able to get it to work after watching this video. They were sticking and a hot mess before. Thank you a million times!!!
I am thrilled my video was helpful to you!! You made my day! And I hope you had a most wonderful wedding reception!!! Congrats!! Thanks so much for reaching out!!!
Omg! Thank you so much! It worked on the 3D cookie cutters except for one part - the balls of the “jester” type hat. But that’s okay - just rolled up some dough and put those on by hand. You’re a lifesaver!
Oh my goodness! I wish I'd watched this earlier. Such helpful information. What should I do with it after it's baked? Royal icing? How do you use the indentations?
That's the great thing about these cookie cutters. You almost don't have to decorate them with icing! They can stand on their own!! But royal icing is ALWAYS a favorite!!! Happy decorating and happy holidays!!!
@@sharnoliver For these cookies in particular no icing is necessary, because you want to see the markings from what the cookie cutter left in the cookie dough. If you must ice them I would use royal icing or a simple glaze.
What is the link for the sugar cookie recipe that would work the best for the cutters that you mentioned. I see several cookie recipes on your website.
The recipe I used for this video is here: chefgailsokol.com/cookies/easiest-ever-sugar-cookies/ But any cookie recipe without bits in it (like nuts or chocolate chips) should work well!
The cookie cutters I used were a gift. I would check online to see some sources where you can purchase them. There are many places that make custom cookie cutters!!!
Roll out a dough 1/2 to 3/4 of the height of the cutter. It should be thick enough that the cookie cutter's indented parts are imprinted, but you don't want your cookie too thick. Roll out your dough and try a sample one and see! It's better to err on the thicker side.
Traditionally you wouldn't need to ice them. Not all cookies have frosting especially with such an intricate design. You can always trace the lines with royal icing using a pastry bag and small round tip!

Good luck!!!

Should i roll out the dough to the same thickness (height) of the cutter? Thanks for entertaining my basic question...

After using the cutter on my cookies can I use the same cutter on fondant?
Absolutely!! You may want to dip the cutter in powdered sugar to prevent sticking!
How do you ice these cookies with the detail still in tact ?
