idk if you guys noticed what erwin told to levi at the end of the episode is exactly what levi told eren while getting chased by the female titan. about decision making , uncertainity of outcome.. whether to trust his comrades ..and about having no regrets. levi is speaking from experience.
SPOILERS And in the end, Eren learns the same lesson: to rely only on his own strength, and to abandon his humanity Well, he would've if not for the ending revolving entirely around leaving it up to his friends. Oh well, good story-telling 100% of the time is too much to ask for, I guess.
i believe this episode was the only time we've seen levi smile in the whole series (while stargazing with isabelle and furlon) apart from one more instance in the future. he is the strongest both physically and mentally for being able to stay on the right track after all the losses he had experienced in his life
Fun Fact: Japanese has very noticeable politeness registers in that literally everything you say can be said friendly/impolitely or formally/politely. When giving their introductions, Levi said his impolitely, Isabel said hers REALLY impolitely, and Furlan said his impolitely before thinking twice and added a politeness marker at the end. This is why they started getting on to them about "being disciplined" literally immediately
Years later and I still tear up for ACWNR😭 You guys keep saying that current day Levi doesn't show his emotions but if you look at his eyes, you'll see the grief he carries. He might have kept a bit of a distance after Farlan and Isabel died but Squad Levi still meant a lot to him. That's why he took Petra's emblem with him (and later gave it away to the guy who was mourning his friend). If you rewatch the eps, you'll see the shots focusing on his eyes. They speak volumes. But he doesn't cry. Because he made his choice. A choice with no regrets.
The voice acting during Levi's breakdown when he's killing the titan after his friends are killed always gets to me. It's so raw in a sense, and for a character that rarely displays emotion outwardly, it really hit hard. 😅
Random fact isabel calls levi "aniki" which means "big brother" literally but in japanese its also used to refer to your boss/higher up in crime organizations

Also, I don’t know if watching this before the third season is a blessing or a curse for you… if i saw it beforehand, I would literally not have lived past that day. Was straggling as it is.
