  • Today the ground was thawed enough that I decided to take the Gradall out and do some digging!! it's fun to run I still got some learning to do running the bucket and swinging with your feet is a little strange but I'll catch on!! I wanted to dig more today but it started raining pretty good and my camera was getting wet but I was able to make some pretty good content and got to here that old 371 GM Detroit make her music!!

West Lafayette area. Tippicanoe County cleaned the roadside ditches with a Gradeall every few years when I was growing up in the 1960's It was always fun to whatch what a clean, smooth, consistent grade they produced.

I worked for Warner Swasey/Gradall for 46 years. Really enjoyed your videos. My friend is the current Gradall president, and I turned him on to your channel. Thanks for saving the G600!

@@dirtgrainsteel I’m sure your local dealer would be glad to let you run a new one. They are light years beyond the old models.

Ran a wheel mounted gradallfor several years. Once you get used to foot pedals it is surprising what you can do with it. Fun machine to run.

My uncle had a bunch of Gradalls. He had one just like that. Worked very well. He used to let me run them from time to time .

Good to see the old girl going again ,would be a bit different to work than the excavator ,be very handy for digging out under houses. You guys are so luck to get to play with the old and the new .Cheers

I feel like that gradall is built for pond cleaning and ditch work. The thing runs and operates excellent for its age those old Detroit diesel engines make more noise than power but they hold up well . We have been really warm for the last week it was 63 today and it has everything a muddy mess. I've got a driveway job to do tomorrow. We have 2 semi loads of stone to spread to make a parking area . Keep up the good work and stay safe !

Man that Detroit sounds great. And she don’t smoke when revving it up. Nice and tight. That’s really cool seeing the Gradall working again. Love the drone footage too. That’s exciting in my book.
The tanker video is a must watch for anyone that’s missed it. It came out great.
I can’t see you retiring. You’ll always be playing with one toy or another. And that’s a good thing.
Thanks for sharing this. Stay well

I'm surprised there isn't more of a counter weight on that old girl. It's funny you said, you wondered what it would have been like to run it when it was new?, I had just thought to myself, I'll bet that thing would have been something when it was new!! LOL!! We bought a old Hy-Hoe, excavator that had a 4-71 Detroit. It was wore out, but sure wished we could have owned it new, because it really was quite a machine. It had 3 hydraulic pumps and 1" lines, it really was a powerful old lady. Nice video,

looks like it should be a good machine once it gets a bit more tlc. Should be a great rig for low overhead jobs.

We had an old crane with a 6-71 in it.. sat right beside that noisy thing with just a thin piece f sheetmetal between the driver and the engine.. was NOT a fun trip- ever... folks knew when I left the shop 3 miles away...
