These are good when excavating under power / utility lines.

Can a 4100 or 5100 have a right mounted cab? Having operated a 880 and 5100 for FL DOT both were right mounted cabs. I loved there turrent cab design with the joy sticks on the arm rest over the 880 design but the 880 had two advantages. Floor mounted bucket tilt was great for finishing work as the 5100 had a dial switch. Also the 880 was much better at getting out of soft soil or sand. But both are great machines.

Basically a bit different take on a hydraulic wheel excavator. It had advantage with it's rotating boom, but now, tiltrotators are getting more popular and unfortunately for Gradall - they are pushing it to the niche market.

Are you talking about tracked or wheeled excavators? I can drive a 4x4 unit with a regular driver's license here in Alberta. I don't need a license to drive a semi to move a track hoe, which attracts me to these machines. Plus with a regular track hoe, you have less visibility than with a Gradall.

@@linkbeltdemolitiondude1219 Well, wheeled of course. I'm from Poland and machines of a Gradall type are quite a rarity, most popular were communist built UDS excavators on Tatra chassis. As far as I know, in Poland and Germany you need only regular driver's license to drive them on the road. In my previous job, I was driving them on a regular, daily almost, basis, only jobs 30-40km out necessitated a low bed trailer, though we had one ourselves.
As per visibility, I'm not sure, it seems like they are on equal terms, though it may be just a personal preference and actual machine itself. I was working on the Volvo EW160C, and it was a tight and enclosed cab, now we have Liebherr A900C, and they are a lot more spacious and there is a lot more glass all around me.

@@chrishanson9748 Here in Alberta, we do a lot of civil construction and demolition work with the tracked machines. Seeing a wheeled conventional excavator, even a Caterpillar machine, is rare. I agree that Gradalls are more of a specialty machine, but they have their advantages over conventional excavators.

Rototilt is weak, this looks like it would twist your rototilt in two

I'd like to see you drive your trackhoe on the road. That would be entertaining.

They use these in steel plants with jackhammers for removing slag. You cannot do that with a Link Belt.
