The Melbourne Central Clock is a familiar site to many Melburnians, but for any visitors to this city yet to stop by; may this affirm you really should.
While already the clock is rich and ornate in its details, it is when the chime strikes on the hour (and every hour) that truly makes the clock special.
Following on from the choral overtures of Waltzing Matilda, out of the clockworks descends numerous levels of galahs and cockatoos, native birds of Australia.
Some may say this tacky or cheesy - but standing before it even the sternest soul would find it hard to not to grow a grin.
All up, for both daily commuters and visitors to the city, this clock represents a little bit of Australiana right in the heart of a great Australian city.

Yep some repair man has to go up and move it the 20mm it needs after it has been hanging up there keeping time for decades and playing this rendition of "Waltzing Matilda". Seriously, this clock has aged well, unlike me, I saw it when I was 18, and it's still going strong 30 years later. It was this clock that got me into anamatronics. Thankyou Melbourne Central clock :)
