Thx for sharing this video from 1991. Appears that in recent years, the middle standing frame which gives a seating platform for the 2 minstrels and a cockatoo does not rotate anymore even though each of the birds and minstrels still are able to move freely.

Worst thing they did to the place was introduce floorboards underneath the clock on Level 1 covering the entire floor and removing the shot tower cafe. Not only that but taking down the glass elevators at the Lonsdale st entrance was a big mistake dont know the reason for it but the architects did a very bad job redesigning the place!!

Those glass elevators were also only there for 13-14 years at the time they demolished them. That’s like if a glass elevator was installed in 2010 in a shopping centre and was demolished in 2024 as a part of a renovation.

@@Techno-Universal I'm just expressing an opinion about a renovation job done poorly you and I clearly have a difference of opinion.

Yeah and I also know a lot about elevators and really like longevity in them which is unfortunately not really a thing in cheap modern elevators! :)

@@Techno-Universal The building looks ugly! Their is such a thing as renovating a building without making it look ugly!

So many places met that fate in the 2000s ranging from McDonald’s locations to shopping centres like Westfield in Doncaster that literally got whitewashed when they extended it in 2006-2008 by removing all of the bright colours and replacing it with black and white with grayscale.
