Without even trying got black, same color i got when I was 5 playing the game cube version. Pure nostalgia.
I got green which is super common. But it was the same color I had when I played it on GCN.
I didn't play gc version, but I did get black before I even knew it could be different colors
I named my Yoshi “Speedy” considering he calls you Gonzales
I now need to not only replay the game, but I also have to do this 😂

@@albertscott4599 Speedy fits so well, not just because of Speedy Gonzales, but also due to Yoshi's Partner ability, allowing Mario to Ride faster than he can run.

Never thought about a yoshi being a different color 20 years ago. I was this month's years old when i found out the time system. It took me 4 restarts from my last save to get the black yoshi.

I named my Yoshi "Scrap" because he's a small piece of paper and he likes to fight.

@@Luigi3289 Bro I didn’t even know the Yoshi came in different colors until I happened to look at the in game tutorial and saw that the Yoshi pictured in it was a different color than my own. At that point I assumed that Yoshi must have like 2-3 colors possible. Less than 10 minutes later, Austin uploaded this video with like 5 total Yoshi colors and my mind was blown lmao

This saved me so much time, I got a Black Yoshi and named him Joker! Good to know your Mario tips are just as god tier as your Pokemon tips

I did not know this was a thing and replayed the game a few times as a kid.
All I remember is that my Yoshie was red and until now I thought this was the only color.
Since red and black are my favorite colors, I was pretty happy with it and I will probably aim for red once again :)

I got red as well I was so surprised because I was expecting a green Yoshi. I didn’t know it would be time-based and thought the color was always green. I named mine “Champ” because the way he talks kind of sounds like what a machamp would talk like
I never knew it worked this way. Was it like this in the original game? I hatched a black Yoshi on the GameCube back in the day by complete accident and I was so happy 😂
I don’t know that this is true, but back then I had heard that it depended upon your copy of the game which color yoshi you got. I always got the green one so I believed it lol

I recently got a white yoshi as well(I got the egg earlier than necessary), and named him Gonzo.
I got Pink Yoshi when I played for the first time. I named him Mitsu because there’s a fighter from the Tekken series named Yoshimitsu and this Yoshi happens to be a fighter. I thought it would be a cool reference with fun wordplay.
I got the black yoshi without knowing how it works. I cant believe how narrow if a window it needs to be. Fun video.

Was this the same back on the GCN? I remember figuring all this out using my convoluted method I had as a kid. I don’t remember the specifics but it was something like: immediately get egg and go through all fights to get green Yoshi. Talk to everyone, get white Yoshi. Talk to to all Bob-ombs in Glitzville, get red Yoshi. Talk to all Toads and security guards in Glitzville, get blue Yoshi. And such and such. Say what you want but it was very consistent. If you had saved and exited the game or left Glitzville to do other tasks, your guess was as good as mine. Never got black Yoshi so I never knew this color was an option.

Yes, it was the same on GameCube. Came to this video just to see if they added new colors as I already knew how to do this. Funnily enough though, there were rumors that when you named your save file, naming it after the color yoshi you wanted is how you chose the color. I had done this 3 times as a kid and each time got the color I wanted. Funny how coincidences like that can happen
I always tried to aim for white yoshi, but was usually second short that I ended up getting the black yoshi instead, I dream of one day getting white yoshi in one of my playthroughs.

I knew that years ago, and was under the presumption it carried over to the remake. I've been after White Yoshi for years, and got him!
Back in the OG game, I remember naming my save file Black and got the black yoshi. I’m not sure if that was just luck or a legit method 🤔

I had no idea he came in different colors, mine was red though and I liked that. Honestly looking at it in game I think I got the best color design! Matches the little dudes personality best imo

After checking your video out, I started the timer from the first fight when you can get the egg. It took me exactly 18 minutes from then til when I fled the battle with the twins. Have never fled a battle faster. And I got the black first try! I named him Sombra (Shadow in Spanish).
I suggest luchador-inspired names for your Yoshis!

I know the black and white are the hardest but i think the red one is definitely my favorite, when i played the Og i got an orange one and that one isnt bad either. Happy color hunting!
I just got the black yoshi today first try. I set a timer to make it easier though sadly I couldn't make it in time before the rollover so I had to wait an extra 20 minutes sitting there in battle before making my first attempt.
If you dont know what time you are at.
1:save it and start a timer at the exact same time
2:start the match
3:Run away
3:Pause the timer when the animation starts
Use that time as a reference and add 30 secs to a minute each restart
Example; I got black yoshi at 11 min 55 sec
And name him Broshido
I got a green Yoshi on my first attempt and I named him Scrappy.
My second Yoshi was orange and I named him Mango.
Got a Black Yoshi while playing through the game.
I got black yoshi on my first try as well.
When @AustinJohnPlays said during the alternate way of getting the Yoshi egg you have to lose to the iron Adonis twins, do I have to actually let them damage me so I lose or can I just run away
@@carolyncarnahan960 you can just run away, but you do have to complete grubba's conditions or you will be ranked down

I always picked the green Yoshi on the original (since it's the *default* Yoshi colour), and I named him Yoshino, but this time around I might go for the black one instead.
Do you start the timer the second you start your profile or when you’re able to move Mario?
I didn't realize back in the day for the og game that the yoshi could be different colours. My was pink and I named it Spike. I don't remember why though.
I remember calling him Spike as well. Seems to kind of be an unofficial canon name for him.
@@sextonj87 Since the remake came out, I've been having this discussion on reddit and youtube and it seems like some others named their yoshi Spike and can't quite remember why. One comment suggested there was a character in paper Mario 64 named spike or talked about naming a yoshi spike but I played thousand year door before playing paper Mario 64 so that can't be it.

paper mario was my fav game on the gc, i would love to play the remake, but i dont have a switch. i cant make up my mind if i should buy one just for the remake. 😅climbing the pit stages was so much fun!
So you fight the twins lose than get the egg. Than before you do a rematch you wait the amount for the color you want afterwards you click the gba to start the rematch?
This video helped i made a mistake and started the egg timer sooner than the last fight before it hatches so i had to wait 5 mins to get black it took 5 times to get it right
There was nothing more satisfying than having Black Baby Yosh appear on the first attempt
Names that fit several Yoshi colors: Jell-O, Slushy, Fizz, Pop, Skittle
GREEN: Woodruff, Jell-O, Kiwi, Apple, Sour Patch, Melon Soda
RED: Fizz/Fizzle, (Red) Razz, Berry or Barry, Cherry Sour
BLUE: Splash, Drop/Drops, Slushy, Bubble, Da Ba Dee (…who gets the reference?)
ORANGE: Zest, Skittle, Soda Pop, Sunkist/Fanta/Sprizz-O, Ori, Oran
PINK: Pop, Lolly, Bubblegum, Candy Floss, Pink Colada, Barbster
BLACK: Soot, Pitch, Rascal, Lungo, B.W., and yes, Noir too
WHITE (Light Blue): Slush, Floe, Colada, Seltzer, Freeze-Dry, Freez and maybe Curly because Hair.

I didn't know you could just get the egg after the battle, I just started a timer when I was first told about the egg and got it. I managed to get the white Yoshi in my game.

I named him "Landon."
ironically...they did change it a tad. originally with the time on the gamecube one. if you had your profile name one as one of the 7 colors it locked it in on that yoshi color and gave it a much larger chance
I have a question, I saved after getting the egg using the save block outside the locker room but I can’t get white yoshi only green so how do I get white yoshi?

It’s cool that you can choose a Yoshi’s color, but I got some pretty fire colors for my Yosh without any gimmicks. I mean, come on, I got a Yosh with a red body, green hair, and a black diaper with white spots. I decided to name him Redhead because that was a suggestion I came across online and thought that would be cool.
black Noir is pretty cool, i decided on orange Ori and im pretty happy
I love Black Yoshi, though I got Blue. I decided to stick with it, blue Yoshi was a childhood favorite of mine. But maybe next time I'll try for black Yoshi

I named mine Satan for comic relief reasons and it just doesn't hit right since he's Blue. Red, Black or White would have been much funnier.

Still have my old save for GCN w/ a black Yoshi who i named Gushi after the family cat at the time though i always wanted orange since it's my favorite color. Started a timer this time so i could assure myself of getting the right color and named my orange Yoshi after Garfield the cat which i am thrilled to have. Possible i will play another file for black again and name it Oliver after my recent cat who passed away on the release day of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet which meant i named the cat starter after him. Not hard to get the color you want as long as you have a timer and you wait until the match where it will hatch to grab the egg.
I got the Pink Yoshi on my first play through. I was hoping for Black but Pink was my second goal. It's funny because I paused my game but forgot about the timer and so I had no idea where I was at the moment I finished the match against the Iron Adonis twins
Thanks bruh green is my favorite color so yeah I shouldn't have much trouble getting the default color Yoshi 20 years ago i had bo idea it was so intricate and complicated not much on the Internet then and smartphones didn't exist
