I really cannot figure out how old Gordy is. He has the enthusiasm, zest, and sprightliness of a 25 year old, and the wisdom, experience, and deliberation of a 50 year old. I imagine he's somewhere in the middle.
I am not sure how I ended up on this channel, but I have watched a few videos with Randy and yourself. You both are very amazing at your craft and hilarious. Thank you for sharing these awesome videos 👍
I got to tell you Jake, that makes the heart rate go up. Getting to see everyone get a turn on Jed’s saw. Pretty cool brother. Keep the content coming. I get better at climbing every day because of it.
Loved watching you, Randy and Gordy together! Great team! Nice meeting Chad, too. Awww, Jed’s saw. I am glad Gordy fixed it up and it’s living on through you guys. 🥹❤️
I love cutting trees. I had a small lawn business and liked taking on tree work. I'm surprised i never open a tree business. Now at 52 wishing i could still go back to something like this. Great job guys your videos are always great to watch. Also the facted you will speak about using an older rebuilt saw. I know it was Jed's , still must people would want knew and not understand how keeping things for years and in working order is very important.
I really enjoyed the editing in this video. Super awesome when all 3 of you guys are together. Incredibly memory you got there with the 44. Thanks Ontario Canada
Great seeing the 044 in action. I run two of them for my tree service. Great saws for the size. I also run a tractor with grapple for moving logs. Saves on lawns and faster than bobcats. Love the videos ,keep up the great work!
when you are putting a "face in the bottom of the limb to get the swing you want (which is totaly fine) but on a removal try taking your nose (of the saw) into the collar so there is strong hinge wood in the direction you want the limb to go it will be your new fav thing!
Having moved a lot of big logs with a similarly sized tractor, you really need more than a box scraper as a counterweight to keep from overloading the front axle. Look into a concrete filled ballast box (cheap and easy) or add some suitcase weights to the scraper. For logs that big I often put my backhoe on.
Hey Jake. Awesome to see Jed’s saw still been used. Would be awesome to get a picture of Jed onto the filter box or something like that. Would pay homage to Jed. Maybe something to think about 🤔🤔
I’ve seen comments on your shirts and I agree. Company shirts all way. But. You need to see if you can find them in safety orange and lime that would be the best or the flowers reflective😂
great guys to spend the day sawing down trees! the saw from Jed was great you can see how well it runs and cuts so fast! that is such a nice modified 440! when left in the hands of a skilled individual, you can revive a tired saw! great job, love your videos!
Im a here watchin....Thinking of Jed up there, talkin to some old logger/feller, a 044 fires up, he looks down with a smile & yells that my saw i hear, its running sweet man...
Worked as a Stevedore on a team of 17, had a good super and we all got along. Rocked my saw in the dark, now I'm mending from a hernia operation, long story you know the usual. Sometimes it's nice to know there is someone watching over you, you guys are rock solid, stay that way. You gotta hear this song by Jhonny Cash called "Lumberjack", mentions Roseburg, Oregon, the man in black may have been a lumberjack. If you want to climb in sandals more power to you, what's for lunch?
I still have like 14x 50+ Foot pines that need to come down off my property but I just can't afford to even just pay for the drops. Since I was literally killed by a tree 4 years ago, I still have some sort of PTSD so I can't do it myself. I still come back to your channel once in awhile to try to cure myself of the fear. I just keep praying one does not take out my house. So far just power lines a few times and the edge of my shop. Wish I knew folks as good as you in GA.
The A-Team in action! Yeehaw! Love Gordy & Randy's humour. Great banter. Great work. Man.... Jed's saw. 😔 Respect. All round. That is a handy tractor. P.s. Nice blowing the roof clean for the client but, ssshhh, looks like ye left their gutter full. 😉 That's next level. P.p.s. That 500i sounds like it's in a hurry with itself 😂 👍
Your videos are outstanding but when you have a good crew and the big OH Randy is so fun you two always put a smile on my head, both of them. You boys be safe, love you lots. Afriend.
You guys can probably make Jed shirts and help out his family and keep him in the industry. Just a thought. Only seen a couple of videos but testimonials from people who knew him seems like a soul worthy of a T shirt.
@@iffykidmn8170 to each their own, indeed. I own an 066 and cutting firewood the rest of my life I will never get more time on it or any other saw than I have with an 044. It's a fine saw, just not my jam. I broke in with an 046 and enjoyed the torque and the lower revs, the saw didn't seem as angry as an 044 and was more forgiving to learn with.
JRG Tree service! No job is too big for this team! Another great day watching you all work together! Edit: Now if you can just get Gordy to wear the company Hawaiian shirt... 🤣

Stihl 044 years made 1988 to 2001 one of the best saws made Jacob do you know if it is a 10mm or 12mm crank 10mm crank was used up to serial number X 29 583 701. Whereas the 12mm crank was used from X 29 382 283. The change from 10 to 12mm was made around 1994. The early 10mm saws tended to have a red control lever rather than black, plus they had a larger exhaust opening. Also, the casing behind the muffler was slightly different between the two versions, And as a general rule, a cylinder with slanted fins will be 10mm, while a straight fin cylinder will be 12mm. However, there are exceptions. Some very early 12mm saws had slanted fins. Also, people will put a 10mm cylinder into a 12mm saw which can confuse things higher port timing on the 10mm is more desirable, but the smaller combustion chamber is good as well.

That’s awesome that Jed’s old saw is back up and running. My good friend is still running his 044 after all these years and it’s bone stock.
