It’s Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2023, at Portland (Oregon) Union Station.
First, we see an old interlocking tower in the distance.
Next we see Amtrak’s train number 11, the Coast Starlight, headed to Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal.
We see the second General Electric P42DC d-e locomotive being fueled by a truck.
Then we walk the length of the train, then we have a look inside the station.
Thanks for the video, I’m picking up a family member at the Amtrak station. It’s great to know the layout..
John, you’re most welcome!
Love those old stations they have great beauty and ambience! Greetings from Port Saint Lucie Florida!
John, yes, me too! Love those old stations! Thanks for the greetings!

Hi Russell. I saw you filming that day, as I'm the Chief Archivist with the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (PNWC-NRHS) Archives in the Annex Building at Union Station in Portland, where I was volunteering that day. The white pickup truck is my coworker Bruce's truck. I will be there again this Saturday! I'll be taking a trip on the Coast Starlight soon too!
Stuart, cool 😎!

@@russellsharptrainvideos Thank you so much!
Are there any plans to upgrade Union Station?
Not that I’m aware of.
I just read that it needs about $250 million of seismic upgrades, and that the current owner is trying to sell the station since they can't afford the bill. Amtrak has declined to buy it so far.
