I understand your annoyance with people taking random photos. I was out yesterday at Whitby Steampunk Weekend and I turned around and some guy was pointing a camera right in my face and took a photo when I wasn't expecting it and another guy filming me as I was walking down the street and I felt really awkward coz I didn't know whether to stop and pose for him or keep walking. Everyone else had the decency to ask first and I was happy to stop for them, just makes me uncomfortable when people take my pictures when I'm not prepared for it
It honestly annoys me so much when ppl take photos of me without my consent. First of all, it's fuckin' illegal. Second, do they think they are at the zoo or something?
Like, ok, I wouldn't mind if they would ask nicely 'excuse me, can I take a photo of you' if I would be dressed extremely fancy and had heavy makeup on. But the problem is (as you said) they don't even ask - like what the hell? Should I fuckin' pose for them too? And where is my money, huh? They took a picture - I want my money! I'm not modelling for them withouth getting paid.
I really envy people like you and Black Friday for your calmness and composure - I wish I could be like this, but sadly I'm extremely temperamental and simply can't contain my agressive emotions when shit like that happens.
unfortunately, it isn't illegal to for someone to take your picture in a public place even if you say no.

I was a park ranger with the US National Park Service for a few years, and just because I was wearing an iconic uniform (that hat...), people seemed to think I was a tourist attraction! The worst is when they pulled up to the entrance station video camera in hand. It feels really dehumanizing.
Niecny Batory I dunno where you are from or laws elsewhere, but I studied photography in college and we had to do street photography, so in the UK its legal to take photos of anyone in the street and share it so long as they are 16+ (or with guardians consent), you dont need to ask them. As long as you aren't on private property. I really hated doing that course because the point was you were meant to catch people off guard but I felt so rude doing it without asking. So I reckon people that take anyones picture know they are allowed to do that or they are too shy to ask, so it makes me uncomfortable but I'll never kick off with them about it coz I can understand from the time I had to do it

yes ofc it can be scary but i mean she is in germany.. its even her country of residence i mean lets say something would happen, she can just jump on a train home easily. it's not like she is on another continent. I live in Czech Republic and went alone to Croatia on summer vacation but ended up having huge anxiety. When I couldn't take it anymore I got on a bus and went 16h back home... everything is possible to solve, even if you are terrified in the moment.

I totally get how annoying it is when people just randomly and sneakily try to take photos of you. It's like, okay, don't be a total tool about it. Just be polite and ask if they could take a photo of or with you. Also, creepy guys are a huge no-no. I would leave if some guy was constantly staring at me too *shivers* no thanks.

Ahh i find it a little scary how you go out to these wonderful places but you are alone, any random weirdo can just do what that guy was doing to you. Slowly getting closer and using eye contact as some form of invitation to come and do that. Such rude people with no manners. I'm glad you are safe and back home. That cathedral is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! One day I will go to Europe and see all the beautiful things.

I live near a chocolate museum (in Australia) when you enter, they give you a small bag and a little shovel and you can go around scooping different kinds of chocolate chips into your bag, you can take it home or eat it there, there's like 20 kinds of choc chips, it's pretty awesome lol
I have so much respect for you man. If people stared at me, took pictures of me without permission, and came up to me to making assumptions (who knows, you could've been a Christian) I would totally go off. I think you handle things greatly and I love you so much.

Most people call it the Dom Cathedral - it is simply amazing. A definite must see.
It is the "Kölner Dom". It is great when you visit it. But I live close to Cologne and have seen it so much, then it is boring.

So glad you stayed safe. Tourists or new residents to places seem to forget dangerous people live everywhere. My friend grew up in NYC and never personally encountered crime. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, which is extremely small next to NYC, and was robbed only a few weeks after moving. Another friend's daughter moved from Chicago to Cincinnati and was robbed at gunpoint. NYC and Chicago have far more crime, however you can go to a small town and encounter a serious crime.
Kelsey Sradeja Well, there are definitely parts. It is like any other city. You learn where you can go when you can go and so on. I tend to avoid downtown unless I have to go down there. However, I worked in the city and went to school there, and while I never felt 100% safe because paranoia, I did not feel in real danger. I was down in the area though recently and was surprised how many improvements were made. Overall though yes, it is still pretty run down.

Yay! Black Friday video! I love Koln. I have eaten lunch on those very same steps at the Dom. It's such a cool place. You walk out of train station, and there it is! there are always creep-a-zoids hanging out on those steps, and in that area. I almost had my pockets picked during one visit. You were smart to play it safe, by moving, and staying aware. I love the ending of the video on the train. :)

Last year in December I went to Cologne and saw the Cathedral in person. It was amazing--- and just like you shot that support structure was still attached when I went. It kind of killed the asthetic, but the carvings and the windows were awesome. When I went there was also a Christmas festival right next to it, which me and my sister bought stuff in. It sold candy, decorations, art... I really loved it. But the weather... was alright I guess.

heavymetallust I can see Freyja as a good Christian. I know that sounds crazy, but people should introduce Christ to her the RIGHT way, and not force and shove it up people’s throats. That’s what I think draws so many young people away from Christianity and the fact that people judge Goths wayyyy too much. I’m Christian and interested in Goth culture, and LOVE Freyja a lot.

I'm gothic aswell but I'm also Christian. I just want to say I absolutely adore you, and find it so awesome that you don't act hateful towards the Christians that can come across painfully annoying, by stopping you in the street. In my religion, we were put here to spread the news so that others can have the chance of being free aswell, I know it can seem rude but they really do feel like they're doing the right thing. You're such a beautiful and accepting human being that truly has an open mind to let others tell you how they feel, without you feeling the need to correct them. You make me feel like I still have a chance of making friends within the gothic community. :")
