Johnny Cash and June Carter can make sound really good no one can take there place they are missed very sweet memories both are a sweetheart ❤️ God bless
I like it when a band covers a song and makes it one of their own as if it always was. Cash pulled it off here just like Soundgarden did with Come Together.
I think this will always be my favorite cover version by Cash - even outranking "Hurt". Simply because he managed to completely restructure the song but retain all of its *bite*. The result was arguably even more interesting than the original song (which is a badass tune nonetheless!) - whereas "Hurt"differed only slightly from the original in terms of arrangement. Of course it's also a lot bout personality: While Chris Cornell sure boasted a voice and a half back in the nineties, he still had that distinctive "surferboyish" quality to him (despite being from Seattle. But hey, he said it himself: "I'm looking Californiaaaaa, and feeling Minnesotaaaa"), but at the hands of the Man in Black himself this became one badass, bourbon-soaked outlaw-ballad.
I love Johnny's rendition...I just love soundgardens original more haha! Johnny does everything justice though so it's no insult rather an honor to have Cash recognize a great song and make it his own, which is what a cover is supposed to be: making it into a new song that is your own interpretation of the original
I generally cannot stand country/western music, but I make an exception for Johnny Cash, and any metalhead who doesn't has no soul. And I am usually sorta disappointed when I hear some teenager getting all excited about a song that they don't know is a cover, but in this case, I would let it slide, because he OWNS this song in a way that Soundgarden could never have done.
Not really. This appeared on the 1996 album "Unchained". There were two more album releases in Johnny's lifetime, and then two posthumous, from recordings made in 2003.
I love Johnny Cash but I for one had not heard this song till Mob of the dead. So look at it this way, it's getting more people to listen to the man in black.
It's interesting how Chris Cornell first thought it was a crazy idea for Johnny Cash to do this song, but after he heard the arrangement and how Johhny brought the lyrics Chris wrote to life, he thought it was a great honor to have the man in black cover one of his songs, something he said he had in common with Bob Dylan.
The union of Country and Rock has to be one of the best inventions ever!!
Johnnys rendition of rusty cage is undoubtly my favourite
Hell yeah!
When Johnny sings this it brings a whole new meaning to the song. Johnny Cash, the coolest man to ever live. There will be none cooler...ever.
1:30 "AND RUN..." I fell something strange and good the same time. Amazing Johnny.
Aww this song brings back memory's wish this great man was still here with us R.I.P mr.cash
John Cash! His music and soul will shine on forever. Their can never be another JR Cash.
Cash made this song his own. The one and only time I saw him was a few days before this. Great!
The man in black kicks butt and takes names with a SOUNDGARDEN song! God bless Johnny.
Great lyrical imagery that Johnny brings to life. All thanks to Chris Cornell for the words!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cash covered some of the greatest rock of all time in his later years
I love this version by Johnny Cash. Having Marty Stuart in his band doesn't hurt either.

I like it when a band covers a song and makes it one of their own as if it always was. Cash pulled it off here just like Soundgarden did with Come Together.

This was one of the last song Johnny Cash sang before he died in 2003. Still a great song.

I remember hearing that Cash did a cover of this song. I was never too big on the song, but this version is just phenomenal.
Mr Cash will always be the greatest. period.
The point of a cover is to do something different than the original. This version has a lot more feel and balls than the original!! PERIOD!!!!
