More amazing is that for a long time as a performer, he didn’t think he could sing. Same with Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV). It took Chris’ wife and Stevie’s female vocalist to persuade them to sing. And we win. 😊
I'm 59 and I have loved this song since the first time I heard it, and Chris does it all the justice it deserves. This man is a national treasure to country music.
I don't know how it's even possible, but country music can make me kinda nostalgic for a world I've never been and never seen. It calms down and gives a feeling of infinity of time as if our life is not so short at all. It gives me meaning and desire to keep living through this difficult time
I'm taken aback by this description of country music. It's as these are the exact words I've been looking for to explain what it also means to me. If you know you know. But knowing and being able to put it into such beautiful words like you did here, are two totally things and I thank you for taking the time to express your heart in such a way. Wow..
Everything about this is a feast for the senses. Chris' voice, the song, the Steinway piano, the pianists' fedora, the subtle guitar solo, the stage layout, color....
One of the first dances I had with my first girlfriend Lisa in 1984 with Willie Nelson singing it, she was 17 and I was 18.. but Chris does an amazing job and it still brings a tear to my eye, only because I had no idea my girlfriend would end up pregnant a year later with our baby girl that she ended up giving to adoption after I already left.. Her grandmother who adopted Lisa wanted her to have an abortion I found out later on... I never knew any of this because we had a fall out in 1985 and I ended up moving away 4000 miles and cut off all communication with her. Today my daughter and I are in communication and she is beautiful and I have been blessed with 7 grandchildren... We found each other on facebook 3 years ago... I know... It's stuff only movies are made of... I was a pride driven egotistic delinquent at that age because I didn't know any better and that took a tolle on Lisa eventually and our relationship.. She was seeing someone else in 1985 behind my back and I never forgave her for it, but it wasn't her fault because I decided to hang out with no good friends and ignored her 98% of the time. I left to come out west with one of these friends who I haven't seen now for almost 40 years... I love this song because it always takes me back to that innocent moment we both held on to each other and danced to it... It wasn't easy after I left because I went on a drunken stupor and took drugs for 20 years because I was extremely depressed and suicidal 3 times in those days... I have been sober now for 19 years and extremely happy and healthy. Lisa and I haven't seen each other for 40 years.
I care. Thanks for Sharing. It’s crazy the things we do when we are in our younger years and as we get in our 50’s and beyond we have so much perspective.
It’s amazing the power a song has, that it can take us back to a specific moment in time. Thanks for sharing. Glad you reconnected with your daughter and now grandkids. Make tomorrow so awesome that yesterday gets jealous! God bless!
Hey I am a black woman at the age of 59 you brought me to cry just listen to your voice to sing a legend song like Willie Nelson Chris stay true yourself god got you 3:49
I'm a disabled Veteran. I have severe PTSD and through over a decade of mental health counseling, I am aware that I show very little emotion towards anything. Spending nearly four years in combat seeing, doing, being around, living the most horrible things humans are capable of, has shattered my emotional response to nearly everything. When I realize my wife of 16 years is lonely, upset, no happy, etc., I will play this song and give her a big hug and kiss and hold her. She's an amazing woman that has incredibly stuck by me all these years as I struggle to feel normal and fit in. Honestly I don't think many woman would have stayed with me and I am very lucky to have her in my life. She understands me and what I'm going through and somehow has the fortitude and love to keep making me happy. She also knows I love her and our two children more than life itself and this song help me express that to her. A legendary song. Chris and the band do an amazing job here. One of the best covers of this song I've ever heard. On that note, there is another cover that brings a lot of emotion to the song that my wife loves. It's by Connie Talbot. If you've never heard it, give it a listen. It's wonderful. Thanks to Elvis, Willie, Chris, Connie, and the many other musicians out there that keep this song alive and full of life. It means a lot to me.
@@enidgonzalez6416 Thank you for the kind words. They mean a lot to me. They also remind me to remember all my buddies that didn't make it back, and all the service members that gave their life for our great Nation.

@ChrisStapletony1y Hahaha I'm glad to hear. Would you like some of my money?
Chris Stapleton has a voice that stays on your mind every time you hear it. Everything he does is good.
If y’all ever get a chance to go to one of his concerts, do it
Elvis is still the standard for this song. And I love Chris S.
I gotta go with Willie over Elvis.
I always looked at this as two different songs. Willie country version and Elvis a pop song. My favorite Elvis song and my fav Willie song. This isn't a bad version by Chris
I love Elvis and completely prefer Willies version. Stapleton could sing the alphabet and I’d hit replay.
Definitely Elvis. But Willie and Chris kill it
I would never, ever, let him sing a song of mine. Everything is better in his voice. Awesome
Anthem of love, divine performance !
Absolute PERFECTION, MAGICAL and Chris Stapleton does it so effortlessly just Beautiful beyond words ❤️🎸🎵❤️
Hello Pamela, how are you doing today
Completely on pitch while standing so relaxed. Thats amazing. Being that much in tune usually takes alot of focus
For sure! Too bad the acoustic player couldn’t have tuned up beforehand though 🤦♂️
His sound is so smooth and perfect. Every note perfection. In person is indescribable
My favorite man... next to my hubby and sons... especially when he can sing like he does!!
Hello lisa, how are you doing today
Lord he can sing. I love his voice, amazing .
This is ear candy. Such a beautiful performance.
I wish Chris and Willie would do a whole album with many many songs on it it would be one I would buy and play all the time and cherish forever❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
[ am aa die hard Elvis fan, but Chris has the smoothest grit, i have ever heard
Love you Chris, you did a good job, but i am an Elvis Fan since i was six (now I am 43) I can't say anything against Elvis, he's the King, I love everything about him
Chris, If you would sing the phonebook all day, I would gladly listen to you all day. You and Your amazing voice just blows me away. Thank You so much for sharing. Respect always Sir.
Hello friend, how are you doing today
Moved by a voice of an Angel…Straight to the ❤… pulling on every heartstring filled with tears…cause you were always on my mind…♥️
He makes any song that he sings sound amazing!! I love his voice and music!!! ❣️
Oh how lovely!!! I'm so glad he didn't change it up from Willie's version! Very very nice!!
Chris Stapleton just has that kinda of voice that no matter what he sings it always comes out right ❤❤
Favourite song of all time!
Nothing can beat Willie for me but this is a fantastic version!
Willie?
Elvis's version is pure sublime
Bottle of crown and Chris Stapleton just pair so well together ❤
Awesome version Of this classic Song ❣️🎵🎶🎵🎶❣️
Hey how are you doing today??
I didn't realise that my tears were already rolling down my cheeks even before the song was over....❤️ Thank you Chris for singing so solemnly and for your loving voice!
This guys voice has no limits✌️♥️😀
It's great for what it is. But his tone is a "one trick pony"
For a truly diverse voice, you have none other than elvis presley.
Way more diverse.
Chris sings it like it’s straight from the bottom of his heart ❤️‼️ Love his voice! Very sensual to me!
Hearing him singing this song made me feel the music and the lyrics so much more than ever before it’s something in the way he puts the lyrics into the air that just makes you feel every word and more
Simply amazing! This song always pulls at my heartstrings. What a great rendition! Bravo Chris!
Oh my gosh that man’s voice is incredible… now officially my favourite version of that song! 🎶🎙️❤️ love love love ❤️ 🙏🏻
His voice is very good, but a "one trick pony"
Elvis's voice was light years more diverse.
What a beautiful version of this song! I love your music!
