Matt Cameron is just so damn good. Definitely one of the most important drummers in rock for the last 30 years having drummed for and written songs for Soundgarden and Pearl Jam for so long.
He's that good,i saw him playing a gig,my reaction was holy shit this man is a beast!!
I could watch him play Jesus Christ Pose all day!
Such a ripping song
The fact he'll slip into 7 or 5 so easily is amazing.
Matt Cameron’s approach is so incredible. The power, the time, the fluid fills that just completely flow and don’t distract from the rhythmic structures inside of each song.. Hugely underrated.
You ask any pro and Matt Cameron is top top top. Plays what's required for the music. Technically insane and just effortless. When guys like Taylor Hawkins (RIP) are like dude does shit we can only dream of , you know he's an all-timer. I could listen to him all day
Absolutely! He's in my top 5 all time.
That’s the thing that impresses me most. Cameron does not sound like he’s playing weird stuff. Carey has same fluid style. There are technical drummers that have no sense what serves the songs and what sounds musical. It just sticks out and sounds odd. Cornell was also on par dealing with complex rythms while singing.
Anybody that know anything about music or drumming knows Matt Cameron is a fucking beast.
He’s the greatest,no one better
Most underappreciated drummer outside of Soundgarden fans.
I’m 63 and have heard a lot of good drummers, this guy is counting his ass off effortlessly. Not one clam in his bucket!
I agree. But why when he's in pearl jam does he decide to suck lol.
They all are my friend !
Awesome things that Taylor Hawkins is rocking out in the corner. Thats a true music lover before musician.
True! awesome
American Living
Every drummer knows, that Cameron
was the best rock drummer of all those bands
that broke big in the early 90’s. ✌️
What he was doing back there?
@@Davicokeiro It looks like he is having a blast.
I was just gonna say the same thing.
The loss of Chris hit me harder than any musician ever. Still makes me sad as i sit here on lockdown in 2020. Soundgarden got me through school and changed the way i thought about making music.
Same! Only recently has it "sunk in" and is believable that he is really gone. Still not easily accepted and still a HUGE bummer knowing there will never be more of his great (new) work released.
V M there may be a new Soundgarden but Vicky is holding the tapes back
V M *album
@@eliborg Yes, I recently read about that. What a mess......crossing my fingers on that one. How exhausting it must be when involved in so many lawsuits and constantly bickering with everyone.
I hear ya...never really bothers me too much when a celeb or artist dies but Chris Cornell hit me hard and still does when I think about it or listen to him. Still doesn't seem real. So, so sad. I wanted to be him when I was a teenager and to think someone who appears to have it all - one of the greatest voices in music, looks, a beautiful family and to still not be happy inside - a scary thought! His lyrics make more sense now, to me. RIP, man, a true legend x
How can Cornell sing while playing the main riff? It's like he sings in one time signature and the riff plays in another. And then the outro sludgy riff, it constantly throws you off. Mind-boggling and he does it effortlessly. What a loss of a pure talent, songwriting, guitar-playing and singing all rolled into one handsome package of a man.
It’s called practice
deadstar44 He was a badass that's why! He deff will be missed!
deadstar44 Tom Morello said that he had a hard time on a few songs audioslave did just for that reason. He had his own style for sure RUSTY CAGE seems that way to me.
just imagine if he was geddy lee, who does the same thing and plays keyboards with his feet at the same time, then, will play keyboards with his hands, bass notes with his feet and sing all in one song
😢
Amazing how he can play that riff and sing something totally different.
sbrave bmfer
Guitar gets like driving a car after you do it enough, as does singing.
I'm convinced Matt Cameron is one of the more inventive and talented drummers in popular music. He's just so so good and different with all of his grooves and fills. Nothing feels generic
I don't know a good drummer who doesn't agree. He's badass. Seeing him live is such a thrill.
MRLein93 playing and singing this song at the same time is actually really difficult, specially doing it as great as Chris used to do
Taylor and Chris surely will form a supergroup up there. RIP
taylor couldn’t hold chris’ ball bag
@@theothersongsonthealbum2598 he was an amazing drummer, and Chris seemed to like him.
@@theothersongsonthealbum2598 XD
Sorry but bonzo would be on drums with Peart. Taylor would be a roadie. Love the foo fighters and Taylor RIP, but I will be straight and separate musical talent from personality.
With Tom Petty & Johnny Cash.
The way Chris could keep that unusual rhythm going and sing at the same time is really amazing...
3:16 Taylor Hawkins R.I.P 🕊️🤘🏼
Soundgarden are just timeless.
Sound as good as they did 20 years ago.
Yeah, after more than a decade of break, they kept their old sound with King Animal. Unbelievable
They are. It’s a crime that they’re still not in the rock hall of fame
imo they sounded better than they ever did. they went out on top
Not only that, but how come Matt Cameron, at 50 years old, actually looks like he's 35.
WarmothGuitarist and plays like he’s still 21
Drummers, man. Another level of physical demand. They stay more active.
Clean living
The man doesn't age! It's ridiculous!
Whole band sounded great, but Matt...man, unreal.
Matt. Yep.
I dunno if it's his kit or the acoustics of the room, but yeah, he absolutely nailed it.
Absolute legend
It's weird as I love him in this band but I just don't dig him in Pearl Jam. Love both bands but just have never gotten used to it for some reason.
Such a great drummer, one of my favorites✌🏼️
Matt's cymbals and snare sound so fucking good here.
As much as I'm mesmerized by Chris's spot on performance, Matt's drumming is just phenomenal!
Matt Cameron is THE MAN, one of the most complete drummers of the last 30 years.
Cameron is the ultimate bus driver....
Must be weird rocking so hard and amazing in front of a bunch of press stiffs!
I always feel like getting up and running in a random direction when the drum really kicks in at the beginning....
Karakane27 I'm still runnin
Ha!
Karakane27 on my running playlist I want to run and break stuff
You want to break your rusty cage and run?
@@mugwump7049 don't even need to be in a cage, haha
Matt Cameron, one of the best rock drummers of that generation, incredible!
Came just to see Taylor Hawkin enjoying the song. May he is jamming with Chris now.
Boys and girls you are witnessing greatness ..amazing musicians that are from another planet..RIP
Chris May your voice be wailing away in the stars and in the heavens. Thanks for hanging with us all these years..
Enough said, they were one of a kind!!!
20 years after it was written and they still sound awesome playing it!!
John Brown Because they are a Great band. So bummed about Chris.
I love how much Taylor gets into it
R.I.P. Chris Cornell and Taylor Hawkins
The ending sounded as heavy as Black Sabath.
Pure gold.
Matt Cameron is just too perfect, seems like such a chill dude for being the drummer of 2 of arguably the biggest bands out of the 90's.
First video I remembered from Taylor Hawkins, music in his veins. R.I.P ❤💔
R.I.P. Chris Cornell and Taylor Hawkins
he is trash
they're so freakin solid... matt cameron = monster
Still one of the best tempo changes ever!
i was dissapointed when I saw people in the audience clapping..like cmon, you know the song isnt over
All time greatest driving song to get speeding tickets to.
or get road rash
Cameron’s fill @3:46 is so good!
It’s fucked to think Matt is originally a guitar player and basically drums on the side. What a fucking beast. Soundgarden really was one of a kind, all 4 super talented musicians.
And Chris was a drummer and guitar player/singer on the side (in the beginning lol).
Yeah crazy, but it also explains why Matt wrote such great songs and why Chris came up with some quirky time signatures on some songs he wrote.
@@withmygoodeyeclosed in my eyes they are Rush level
To me, Soundgarden always felt like a supergroup even though they technically weren't- Kim is such a great guitarist, Matt is such a great drummer, Ben is such a great bassist and Chris was such a great singer that it's insane to think they just got together organically.
Why do I get the feeling 95% of that audience never heard that song before?
Matt Cameron is my favorite superhero
One of the greatest voices in my generation. My wife and I still miss him terribly. He brought authentic soul to every song he performed, even when it was a half-ass inside joke like "Big Dumb Sex." Very few bands like Soundgarden have ever hit hard like this after such a long hiatus, but when I saw them in Newark NJ at the Prudential, I was lifted...the entire crowd was into it, and you could feel the feedback. It was utterly amazing, shoulder to shoulder with everyone there, and the set list alone demonstrated a love and passion that I'll remember for the rest of my life.
RIP Chris. And Taylor :(
Soundgarden should have done a grunge cover of either Folsom Prison Blues or Cocaine Blues.
Dude, Soundgarden made this song.. Jonny Cash made a cover !
You know you're a legend when Johnny Cash does a cover!
And as CC indicated...they were thrilled to have a legend cover their song. When I heard JC sing his rendition, I was floored. Pay homage to both Soundgarden and Cash :)
Ben is so underatted bass player
I can't believe he was real, and he gave us so much art. And now he's gone.
Is that Taylor Hawkins at 3:10?
yep
Taylor air dumming made my day.
The Voice has fallen silent. RIP.
Wow, why is Taylor Hawkins hanging out with them here?? :D
+Kevin Rydstrand saw that too. I was surprised, but very happy.
+Kevin Rydstrand He was hosting this even if I recall correctly. Super awesome to see him air drum it!
And you can see that he knows it pretty well and he's enjoying it.
Because Matt can get stolen by Pearl Jam at any given moment. Need a backup.
Matt Cameron is a machine
this is the best fuckin band ever!!! ever member in the band act as a element of nature it seems like... when all together its like a perfect storm!. damn Matt Cameron is a solid fucking drummer!. i think every drummer should take some pointers from this guy!... ill follow this band forever!
I do since i was 13,and it was long time ago, they are a match made in rock n roll heaven,Chris you were the best brother,we miss you!!
Love seeing Taylor doing the same thing I do when I hear Matt Camron play.
Shame that we won't be witnessing this awesomeness ever again.. Fucking hell...(smh)..
Matt to Taylor : "This is how you do it son" 😂
JK
Cameron is a MONSTER
Matt fucking Cameron!
I still can’t and probably never will be at peace with what happened with Chris. Forever missed.
Matt camron absolute beast on drums.
Fuck man no one ever mentions Matt's performance. He fucking killed it here like always.
RIP Chris you beautiful bastard.
We lost a true rock n roll legend today,no words but can describe- RIP brother ✌️
Matt always was better with SG then PJ
Do you know hard it is to play that riff and sing?
Off the charts great performance.
The ending is beautiful, the timing and that tasty jazzy chord to finish
When you've got the drummer from one of the most succesful bands in the world, the Foo fighters sitting playing airdrums it has to be a good sign!
Matt Cameron is my favorite drummer ever! I learned how to drum from watching him, from SoundGarden to Pearl Jam, absolute legend!
I've been drumming for 25 years and will say that Dave A was def a better fit for PJ, but as a drummer, Matt C is far more versatile/skilled player.
Chris Cornell "How I wish, how I wish you were here" We miss yo Bro. .
Taylor miming along to Matt's drumming is spot on! He knew the song to the smallest detail. He would have been one of the few drummers to slay that song!
probably one of the best late career performances of this song
Taylor looks so happy ♥️
Kim Thayil - 52
Matt Cameron - 50
Chris Cornell - 48
Ben Sheppard -44
Soundgarden - Timeless
Wow! Ben was only 44 at the time? He looks older than Kim!
Guillaume Perez Because Ben is a big mountain man haha
I believe Matt breathes in odd times signature
Yeah see how nice it is with a small venue Chris live vocals in that small room sound just like the studio version fantastic...because the place isn't super huge...thanks what a great performance of
I grew up metal but when I heard louder I knew a new era was not taking over but joining the good fight. PJ, Soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana, and all others. Thank u
The band is really feeding off the energy of the crowd!
Good 1 smartass!
They will go hungry
how come that cameron fucker is 50 and is playin faster and faster every song as the years go by? I´ll never know
Doesn't get any better than this.
These Guys,Including Johnny Cash, And Sound Garden!!! They Both Kicked Country’s Ass And The Rock Version, Both Kicked Ass!!!!! U Guys All Did An Excellent Bad Ass Song 🎧 With The GREAT 👍 JOHNNY CASH!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤️ THEM BOTH!!!!
That's funny, I was just thinking how just listening to this song made me want to start running without knowing why. You've gotta have some reaction when you hear these guys
I saw them a couple of years ago in vegas at the joint. The one thing I was blown away with is Matt..I was amazed as to his skill.Just mind blowing
Taylor Hawkins air drumming!!!!!!!
yeah....what a dick.Ant normal person but just watch n listen.
RIP CHRIS :c
Matt Cameron and technical force and backing vocals
Taylor Hawkins
Damn Chris sounds amazing!
Holy shit that final wail!
holy fuck indeed
Road Rash 3D! =D
Jimi would have loved Soundgarden.
NO doubt about it!!
True masterpiece of Rock
matt Cameron you beatiful man
Jesus they sounded good!
OMG what a fucking awesome live rendition. They didn't miss a step
Anyone notice Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters air drumming at 3:10 ? Anyone who knows drums knows that Matt Cameron is one of the best of the best. Awesome vid!
Matt still playing like he's 23
Matt is a killer drummer!!! Wow, what a drive ...
Chris Cornell still outshines the rest of the band BUT I'll be damned if BEN don't get better with age👀👀👀
Born 1975 - Soundgarden.. my favorit band!
Me to! 19-01-1975
Amazing what 4 very talented music ians can do.
Quality Drumming.
look at Taylor Hawkins sitting in the corner rocking the fuck out to soundgarden.
now he can jam with chris
What is it with playing on Persian rugs? Everyone seems to do it...

China Hog makes you sound more gooder
Nicholas Vaughan thank you
I hope these almost 50 dislikes are from the shit audience, not from this legendary band!
R. I. P Chris, Rock Eternally! Miss ya dearly
audience is in a rusty cage
😂. Still funny 5 years later.
