    Professionally done/explained as per usual. Hope you gave the triangular piece a good clean before refitting - know you're a little OCD about these things!

      Cheers Steve, the rear bumper and bumper bar had a good clean before it went back together. The rear bumper was full of stones 🤨

    Happy new year to you.
    Another quality, info packed film.
    Looking forward to another year of your work. I need to have the rear bumper off mine to repair the PDC loom, so will do batteries whilst I’m in there 👍
    Cheers. All the best. Bren.

      Happy new year Bren! Yeah good plan to get it taken care of while you’re in there. I’ve got a replacement PDC sensor on the way in the post I need to replace at the rear, so the bumper may be coming off again soon! 🙃

    Interesting, I don’t have the code yet. A bit involved just changing a lithium battery. But good to understand there is this thing. Have you got the part number of the clips? I want to replace some of mine, for new one. Btw maybe a year ago, my HDD on the navigation started to fail I was it on your video reminded me of it. So the symptoms are you will hear the HDD head, I work with computers so I am familiar with this sound. Your navigation/sound will start to reset every now and then. What I did was to just buy a fiber optic loop, this is to bypass the HDD navigation unit.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These lithium batteries will be getting to their end of life in most E60 M5’s now. Yeah, fibre optic loop not a bad idea a with Japanese import, that’s interesting the way your HDD failed though!

      @@MTechGuy normal for mechanical HDD after spinning X amount of years and the hand also been moving up and down and parking they fail.

    Nice to know these exist mine is a 2007 must check mine.
    Use fire alarm spec cr123a spec batteries they are rated for 7 years. The photo ones are rated for high discharge rate for flash rather than long term capacity.

      As it happens the new batteries where identical to the originals that lasted 18 years 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hey bro, I hope you are fine. So basically I got a 2008 m5 v10 recently, 67,000 miles and the car had diagnosis and nothing major came out. The only plan is the rod bearings now, should I worry about other issues yet? Or mainly focus on rod bearings? I’m planning to do rod bearings but it still has the same Smg clutch etc, so kinda got me worried even if the mechanic said it’s alright. I’m not gonna drive it daily Btw cuz it’s too loud 🤣
    Main reason why I bought it is cuz I want a weekend car, currently got a Tahoe for family car

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do the rod bearings, replace the HP vanos hose & inspect the vanos pump at the same time.
      Just wait until the SMG clutch is worn before replacing it, when you do the clutch consider the additional SMG items in this video, at the same time- th-cam.com/video/6HIcsz77xCI/w-d-xo.html

    • @rbtubehd4201
      @rbtubehd4201 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTechGuy bro but the mechanic said the hp vanos line is in great shape, also if it adds up to all of the items together (including rod bearings), too expensive bro. Like I’m not gonna drive it daily, can’t I keep the stock hp vanos line?

    • @rbtubehd4201
      @rbtubehd4201 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTechGuy and btw if I’m not mistaken vanos failure happens due to rod bearing wear and failure right?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rbtubehd4201 The HP vanos hose failure has nothing to do with rod bearings. The hose can’t be inspected without removing the oil pan. If your in there doing rod bearings it would be foolish not to replace the hose because they do fail, and it’s a huge amount of labour to go back in and replace it

    So i had the issue of alarm going off for no reason but i also got the battery failure fault not too long after. Eventually the siren stopped going off, i assume because the batteries died? But then instead of the siren sounding for the alarm the factory horn started doing it🤔 i have replaced the siren batteries but still have not been able to get the siren back. The fuse is good

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The batteries in the siren module are just a back up if the main 12V battery fails. Sounds like you have other issues going on

    • @jryoung4961
      @jryoung4961 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I realized that when I unplugged it and it blasted my ears. I did notice it is extremely faint when locked/unlocked. You can't hear unless you're at the rear bumper. Thinking I may have a bad connector. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks

    Will this help my car alarm be louder? I also barely hear my acoustics when locking and unlocking the car. I have a 2004 530I

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, if the main 12V battery is on good shape, it will power the siren module
