Of course, he has been blamed for staying in power too long but he served with honor and humility at a time when many leaders in other countries were dictators. His slogan of One Zambia One Nation united the people and the partial nationalization of the economy saw rapid industrialization in a country which had been a mere consumer of goods and services from South Africa and Southern Rhodesia!
