How refreshing listening to our great first President of Zambia on the history of our country. I do have a picture of him and my colleagues as we wellcomed him at the opening of the Mufulira ZCCM Sports Festival all those years ago. I'm looking at my Zambian flag here in the UK. May God continue to Bless your life our KK and your family. We thank God for your life!
I had the privilege and pleasure to attend some meetings of UNIP, the party formed by KK s group after they were released from prison 1960/61. I was 23/4 and a colonial N. Rhodesia police officer. We taped speeches and counted heads and contributions for SB purposes. At that time KK was young and handsome, but just the same as he is on this video, polite, unassuming, thoughtful and considered in what he said. I was young but relatively ignorant and narrow in comparison. I was very moved by what was said, I learned so much and he changed me for the better, so much so that I am sure that I have been a much better man for his lessons. He later composed the Zambian National song - “Ti Yende pa modsi “ which means “we will walk as one” I think. His loving words regarding the need to inter-relate as Human Beings is fundamentally what KK is all about so very necessary and true. He is truly one of the true icons of our time!
I am very happy to hearing this from you. I was a little boy back in the 80's and 90's. I always heard his name KK in the news in Gabon with Julius Nyerere. I personally have leaned to be a peaceful man from Kenneth Kaunda. I have a lots of respect for him and his family. May his soul rest in peace and in heaven. One love ❤️ Zambia 🇿🇲 and Africa. Mungu ibariki Africa 🙏
KK as he was called, the icon of the region. He had a heart for his country. He worked tirelessly to make sure that all neighbouring countries attain Independence.
Eternal rest in peace 🙏...I will never forget when you visited Kenya at the Airport v.i.p louge I loved serving you coffee and you always 🙏told me words of wisdom and your fatherly love ..shine on Sir...my sincere condolences to your entire nation, family and friends....It is well
The oldman gave us free education, free medical vaccinations in early childhood against small pox, miseals, polio etc, free health facilities, united all the 73 tribes of Zambia into one Zambia, one Nation, built road networks, health centres, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities among other works. This helped to ground the country sooner in my views. It is refreshing to hear him give his History than to be told through third party. Grateful to listen to this interview.
He played a very big role in Zimbabwe liberation not only by supplying bases for freedom fighters but during the talks he is the one who convinced Thatcher to ditch the Rhodesians even Gen Peter wells has never forgiven Thatcher for this in South Africa it was KK and Castro who brought the boers to the table
In Kenya we had this outfit called the Kaunda suit which my dad used to wear during weekends and special occasions ...I never saw my dad in jeans...the Kaunda suit was considered African wear,he ...my dad had a beige colored one which really looked good on him...I grew up in the era of Dr.Kenneth Kaunda presidency and he was a great inspiration, RIP,oh great son of Africa. 🇰🇪...greet my papa in heaven ❤.
🇿🇲 🇿🇲 Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda "KK" - What A Man ! The Greatest among the Great , Africa's Finest , Great Global Icon ! Unequalled among his peers ! 🙏🏽🇿🇲 If I can achieve even an 16th of his achievements , I would say, "I have lived a full life" . . . His death is a direct challenge to me to do and exceed my very best. Go well the Greatest of the Sons of Africa. "Super Ken" ! Our Founding Father . . . "One Zambia , One Nation" we shall continue with the eternal motto !
This is the third of the same clip I watching. Me after watching KK’s farewell service. Always loved his energy🤩and this one jog for comrade Madiba sealed it!! Our founding Fathers shared indeed had our interests at heart!! Proud Zambia we will always be 🙏🏾Farewell KK 🇿🇲 Gonani mumtendere
Mwalimu, KK, recognized early that democracy was different in Africa because of our multifaceted nature. So they set to unite all the tribes within their domain. Many failed to do that in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, etc. To bring development and stability, Africans must speak "one language." Whatever that language is must have in its core, humanitarianism.
One of Africa's greatest son and leader. I have leaned to be peaceful from KK and his friend Julius Nyerere. He seemed like a man born peace in his heart. He love his African people with a pure heart. Pure life Pura vida. May his soul rest in peace. RIP. Mungu ibariki Zambia 🇿🇲 Mungu ibariki Africa 🙏.
Great son of the land, Africa from east to west loves Kaunda, in his era, he was the talk of the house hold. Smart in Kaunda suits, go to Kenya , my Uganda, DRC, Rwanda, Tz all leaders of those nations dressed in his style. A true states man. Great KK.
I remember seeing him on TV as a child and when I met the man in person on several occasions it was like a dream. Miss him so so much. "...not many fathers!"
Respect to the founding father of the great nation Zambia. Very insightful!!! We owe you and ourselves economic freedom. You risked your own life so others could be free. What greater love exists than that?
Kenneth Kaunda was a focused president. He led Zambia in the sun. He has a heart of eleemosynary and practicses what he preaches. He has made Zambia what it is in spite of some of the few people in the country that deviated from the right track because of harbouring their selfish ends. So far so good I studied in Zambia from welfare to university and his education provision was a rennaissance ever inculcated to a bantu child. I cherish KK a.k.a Buchizya born unexpectedly to his missionary parents. He is a progeny of Africa that God bestowed Zambia so that He puts things right. "Ala mukwai bashi Panji, bashi Wazamazama, bashi Masuzyo bantambalukuta mwalimbombele ncito iisuma." It is for this reason God blessed you with long life. I remember as we chanted: One Zambia One Nation One nation One People One people One country and that Country Zambia Zambia with Peace and Stability. " Kumulu Lesa, Panshi Kaunda" Lesa apale ulukuta lwa calo umuyayaya umuyayaya.
Happy birthday Dr Kenneth Kaunda my true hero of the struggle. You helped us and sacrificed a lot for the independence of our Zimbabwe. May you have a happy and long life
Mr.Kaunda said the most important word Love he got this from God almighty who gave us but one thing we must have to be in his favor that is to Love one another.I also like the fact that he would not seperate politics from humanity and what is right., we all just listened to a MAN.
I couldn't have seen the inside of a classroom...I came from a poor background. I gave each child the unfair advantage. Great education system. Free education. The rest is history. He still have his big heart to sorrounding countries that thirsted for freedom and peace. Greatest gift that man can give.
@Felix Kangwa, it is indeed difficult to explain the intense love Mzee had for Zambia and it’s people. As he did in public he did so in a private setting, the people came first for him nothing more, nothing less. He kept his promise of ensuring every Zambian child had an even chance at education and free medical care, as he always said, there are many little Kaunda’s out there only needing a chance. And so he did.
This man has done more in Zambia as the President, in Africa the chairman of the organization of African Union. The untold story is that he helped Mandela and the ANC to secure the indepence for south Africa. He employed Mugabe as a teacher and helped him to secure independence for Zimbabwe. The west fought him by blowing the luangwa bridge when they realized that he was helping all neighboring countries secure their independence.
He was a cadre and a true statesman. South Africa really owes Comrade Kk. South Africa has to honor him by naming an important institution after his name not only a street.
There's a big difference though: Banda, Houphouët-Boigny and Bongo were blatant lackeys of the West. Houphouët-Boigny in particular assisted in the overthrow of Nkrumah and supported the murder of Sankara. Banda was actually friendly with South Africa under Apartheid.
