- How to get four Ultimate Weapons on Disc One of Final Fantasy VIII:
Squall's Lion Heart:
1x Adamantine - Card Mod Minotaur
4x Dragon Skin - Low level Grendels on the side wall of the Yaulny Canyon
12x Pulse Ammo - Get 20 Elnoyle cards from Trepe Groupie #1, converts to 2 Energy Crystals and then 20 Pulse Ammo.

1x Adamantine - Card Mod Minotaur
4x Dragon Skin - Anacondaurs in the SEED exam
1x Fury Fragment - Card Mod 4 Blue Dragon cards from Girl in Balamb
Selphie's Strange Vision:
1x Adamantine - Card Mod Minotaur
3x Star Fragments - Card Mod 9 Iron Giant cards from Trepe Groupie #1
2x Curse Spikes - Card Mod 2 Tri-Face cards from any level three card player, Friend of Trepe Groupie #1 or Girl in Balamb

2x Marlboro Tentacles - Card Mod 8 Marlboro cards from Trepe Groupie #1
4x Sharp Spikes - Card Mod 4 Grand Mantis cards from Trepe Groupie #1

You forgot to mention the "Force Armlet" you can loot on the X-ATM092 (Black Widow) if you kill him on the bridge instead of Runing , making Rinoa's ultimate weapon available in Disc one,
for The Adamantine you have two way to get it , the first one as you mentioned is to use the "Minotaur card" to get 10 Adamantine but for those who don't want to refine rare or limited cards to keep it , you also can farm "Adamantoise" on beaches around Dollet and on Long Horn Island
Since you don't need to keep your low level anymore to farm items early one for the umtimate weapons because at that point you already have all the items needed to craft it all , you can stick your party at level 20 to farm adamantines after getting the Dragon skins firts on the Grendels between level 1- 19.
the moon stone for Irvine ultimate weapon is available only when you get to Estar and stealing on elnoyle and some other monsters , so feel free to level up as much as you want after getting all the others ultimate weapons since moon stones are not scaled to level.
If you miss the Force armlet from X-ATM092 - you can level up and get them from level 30+ Forbiddens in the Tomb of the Unknown King, or level 30+ Ochus in the forest near Obel lake.
Otherwise you'll have to settle for her next best weapon, The Cardinal.
For that you need:
1x Cockatrice Pinion - mod from 1 Cockatrice card - or you can find them on the plains and forests around Galbadia
1 x Mesmerize blade - mod 1 Mesmerize card
1 x Sharp Spike - dropped by Armadodos in the Tomb of the Unknown King - or mod from Death Claw cards.

You can get the Dragon fangs when you move the garden, by going to get Tonberry and use his level up and down. Just level down the grendals and get Dragon fangs. :)

If you can acquire enough Malboro cards, you can card mod them into enough Malboro tentacles to use with certain other items refine all the Adamantines you need. I know this because I was compiling a catalog of Card Mods and Item Refining. It explained what could be used to get practically any useful Item in the game. It even covered how to get the top spells, like Curaga, Firaga, Blizzaga, etc. through refining and card modding. Yes I dug really deep into the game.
Unfortunately, disc 4 was ruined by a disc retainer bearing failure. I now have the game again with all discs, but no PlayStation console to play it on. I do have a Memory Card. Just gotta find a good working PlayStation.
You could find a ps2. It would still play the original disc game, let you use the memory card and even the pocket station if you have it.
@@ShinryuZensen I have a PS2, but it needs a code. It won't play anything at this time, and I know nothing is wrong with it. There is an activation code that can be used to reboot the PS2 system.

thanks for the response. I always thought you could just abolish all rules from the Card Queen. I was gonna replay it, since it's my fave final fantasy. This video helps alot, even if it's overkill since it's easy to exploit the leveling in this game. haha

After the seed exam when Squall is solo if you get him high enough the t rexaurs will drop dragon fangs and later star fragments
Not worth the time and effort fighting bosses over leveled. I rather keep them as low as possible.
T rexaurs do not drop dragon fangs..dino bones and fury fragments
Actually trex drops a nice amount of dragon fangs from lvl 20-29 and the adamantine you can get on the neach by dollet instead of wasting a high level card

Didn't mod the Minotaur card but was able to get adamintine from Adamantoise at the northern beaches of Galbadia on Disc 1, though it needed me at least 2 characters at high level.
Yeah you can do that I just figured I would show the easiest way because you have to go to the Tomb of the Unknown King as part of the story.

You can get Rinoas disc one like others have said....but farming 80 elnoyle cards is insanity lol. I'm at 40 and I've played almost 10 hours. It's too bad it's almost not worth it to get weapons in this game, since card mod and junctioning magic is far stronger and more broken than getting ultimate weapons.

I disagree about who you want to challenge in cards in Balamb Garden. You actually want to challenge the guy at the gate of Balamb, because you have the save point right nearby.

A lot of players play that card. Trepe Groupie #1 only plays two levels of cards so he's likely to play it the most.

You dont have to wait until island closest to hell to get the fangs, you can find blue dragons in the forests outside Trabia Garden..

To be fair, the garden is mobile by then anyway. In which case, you can go back to Galbadia Garden area and fight grendels provided your level is under 20.
@@lyndonbauer1703 You don't need to be level 20. Just use Tomberry's LVL Up & Down ability to change the enemy LVL.
@@ulzzangloverxDThe only reason you'd have to do that is if you miss low level grendels in the story on disc 1, rather than waiting. Disc 2 is the next bottle neck for that particular item and I'd rather not waste time killing/carding to get tonberrys for level up/down if you can either a) be below level 20 for travelling back to grendel encounter in disc 2, or b) going outside trabia to do it there as per OPs comment on disc 2 regardless of level. Both are probably more time efficient than going for tonberry at that point.
It's probably more of a no level run thing too, as I didn't want Odin either in my latest playthrough/no level run and as such avoid the ruins to begin with also.

Idk if you notice, but your discription For the video, for lion heart is asking for dragon “skins” not dragon “fangs”
With long term Triple triad at disc 1, when changing trading rule to 'all', I recommend changing to 'diff' instead as All degenerates to 'direct' after a certain amount of games, 'diff' stays locked to diff much longer however but does revert to 'one' after a lengthy time I believe, though much safer long term for initial card collection. Winning 2/8 or 1/9 results in all cards anyway.
Currently enjoying the remaster with a no level run! Glad this game still has life.
This grind is painful my seifer is lv 42 and only managed 2 dragon skin 😢
I took the hard road and did this all before Dollet the second time got every ultimate weapon except Irvines

There's a list on Reddit of best magic for each junction in an excel doc. Basically, full life for hp, Ultima for str, triple for speed, meltdown for vit.
just flick through all top tier magic (Ultima, meteor, holy, flare, meltdown, triple, whatever) and best junctions are pretty obvious.

Just a question, how can you upgrade weapon if the number 1 book can be only found at esthar on cd3? Is it just necessary the right items to make the new weapons visible at junkshop
Yup. There is a glitch in the game that as long as you have the items you can upgrade regardless of which Weapons Monthly magazines you have.

you just wasted 20 elnoyle card for pulse ammo. in laguna's 2nd dream, you can mug lasser cannon from elastoid and ammo ref it to pulse ammo. 1 lasser cannon = 5 pulse ammo. you can get adamantine from lvl 30 adamantoise in a beach near dollet.
Casey Araneta if you want your characters low as possible then it’s not a valid way but it is if you don’t care for your toons lvls
While fun and an interresting fact to get them on cd1. I prefer waiting for cd2 and the first chocobo forest, and just get all the mats from the mini chocobo game instead. :) No grinding required :D (And cd1 is super easy at low lvl anyways)
For non Japanese releases and most consoles, this isn't an option. Lionheart is too easy disc 1 anyway.

Get seifer to kill everyone in dollet woth Ifrit junctioned
Get Ifrit level 10 for ammo rf
Refine energy crystals.
Do timber, get fangs from under level 20 grendel, card em.
Refine minotaur in deling city after Brothers GF detour.
Lionheart disc 1 level 7 at Deling. Tada
Every time I speak to the queen of cards I get three options and none of them show the rules changing.
One option is to pay her 30,000 gil to change the rule but never anything about challenging her or rule: all.
You don't just "speak" to her. You challenge her and you don't have to play her. All it needs is to show trade rule all and challenge someone else to see if they use All as well.
i got my dragon fangs at the start when squall was solo vs the t-rex he drops it only between lvl 20 - 30. after that i got my adamantite from amantoise at the bay of dollet. only after lvl 30 which i would fight anyway for one of quistis limits. dont like to morph the rare cards. i know you can get them back in cd4 but still dont like to waste them :D
T rexaurs do not drop dragon fangs...only dino bones and the fragment..i call bs
well you can just look it up on any final fantasy 8 guide the t-rex does drop them but not as an 100% drop more like 10 to 20% and only between lvl 20 and lvl 30 you can guess the lvl of the t-rex using draw cause he has different stronger spells after he hits lvl 30. you can also look it up on final fantasy 8 drop sites if you dont believe me, why should Final Fantasy guide sites lie ^^

I wonder if there's a way to get Irvine's best weapon early on and maybe no1's figured it out yet. The biggest problem is no Moon Stone :( .

From what I know its impossible for that exact reason. No card-mods for Moon Stone and no mobs drop it until Disc 3, so yeah. Also he has my favorite combat limit break of the game, so kind of sucks.
and even if Angelo SEARCH gives out Moon stones Rinoa can't even learn THAT until DISC 3 either.

NEVER mode the Minotaur card its still better to hit lv 30+ and win them off of Lv 30+ Adamantoises besides I'll NEVER EVER USE 20x Elnolye cards EVER to make the Lionheart on disc 1.
Save the Queen is worthless to make on disc for the same reason that I'll never use cards to make the Lionheart ever.
What are you playing this on? The music is really different from the PlayStation version.
The Steam version. The audio is a little different from the original PSX version. I think there are mods you can get to play the original music but I never cared enough to research it.
Yeah, there's a mod called "Roses and Wine" that let's you either choose the PSX music, rock or orchestral versions of the music.

How do u grind for ap without getting exp?? I tried getting card mod and other abilities like card refine before seed exam but gained too much exp.squall lvl20 before dollet....
You KO Squall and Zell and just grind with Seifer.
Can't you card enemies and still get the AP, but not the EXP?
While you can do this Dragon Skins are a rare drop until level 30. So you grind levels with Seifer (with Squall and Zell KOed) so that the anacondaur's level up with him and it becomes easier. This also allows Seifer to draw 100 of Curaga, Firarga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga and to give them to another party member.
Once you run in to Selfie and Seifer leaves the party all enemies will go back down to the level Squall and company are at.
Yeah, if you Card enemies, you only get AP *and* their drops.

where did you get squall's last weapon recipe?
Playing the game a lot. Its 1 Adamantine, 4 Dragon Fangs, and 12 Pulse Ammo. The game wants you to wait until you get Weapons Monthly 1st on Disc 3. However a glitch is that if you have the right items, the junk shop will upgrade your weapon regardless if you have the magazines.

Rinoa's can be done disc 1. You need to kill XATM in dollet for whatever bullshit item it is from the drop table - force armlet or regen ring? Save after biggs/wedge/elvoret fight. Keep reloading and killing after 1st mandatory run away till it drops.
Why were you grinding for the dragon skins with only Seifer?
I was level grinding with Seifer (to around level 60) so I could obtain Curaga, Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga for all my characters. However I didn't want them to gain any levels as it would make the game too difficult that early on. So I killed them and just had Seifer gain the levels.

Ok so I won’t go after the aga’s that early. But I did kill off Squall and Zell as I didn’t want them levelling while I wasn’t collecting any dragon skins. I managed to get two but no more and gave up as it was late and I was falling asleep. Any additional dragon skin drop rate tips as Seifer was nearing level 30 and only 2 received?
JinnMediclore Sorry I never replied to this. You just need to keep at it. They are a rare drop but you should get them eventually.

Unknowing Reaper there’s a number of videos available that show how you can quickly; but here’s a simplified version. Make sure your customization skill is lv8 or better. The skill Radar gives you random items when you level it up; you’re looking for two mithril. Then all you have to do is make it to the finals at Lacour castle, the location where you fight Dias in the tournament. Making it to the finals unlocks the Sharp Edge sword, gifted from Grandpa Gamgee. This sharp edge with the first mithril should make a Minus Sword ⚔️. Craft the Minus Sword with a second mithril to make the Eternal Sphere! Makes your regular attack swipes burst with stars ✨ that can injure and stun your enemies! 👍🏻👍🏻😁

That's how you get them on disc one. Otherwise you would have to wait until disc three to get all the components.

Yes. You can get evey rare card you card modded back on Disc 4, with the exception of the PuPu card. If you beat the CC Group then they will appear in the Ragnarok in the time compressed world. The left member of the Diamond Duo will play every rare card (again except for the PuPu card) you either lost or modded.
Just keep in mind that she plays the level 8,9 and 10 cards in order that you are missing. Minotaur is the last level 8 card in the list so if you are missing any of the other level 8s you will have to win them first. Once I finish my walkthrough of FF7 I will be doing FF8 where I will cover this including how to abolish all rules everywhere.
Cool, now I know I can mod the rare cards without worry but just to ask, if you get the rare cards from her on disc 4, can you still mod them then try to play against her to get them back?

I thought about including her weapon but the issue is that everytime I have played and destroyed X-ATM092 it is such a rare drop that it's not worth it.
