When I infiltrated Galbadia Garden, I drew 100 Flares from one of the monsters, and junctioned them to Squall’s Strength, maxing it out to 255. I also had Diablos learn Darkside, which Squall used as an ability (Darkside does triple attack damage). Two Darkside attacks against Edea and she was done for!

They literally tell you how to beat him the first time you fight him. Junction sleep to your status attack and you'll put him to sleep every time you hit him.
This is a great guide and I followed it to the letter. Got punishment at level 10 too and even though it was a pain, it was totally worth it. Only in my 3rd walkthrough did I discover that high levels were worthless
@@amyjamie8757 cause ff8 has a difficulty system that levels the enemies with you, so the only “real” way to get stronger than them is to make the most use of the junction system as possible. I also had to learn this the hard way
Option 2 to ensure you are OP throughout the entire game. Kill Squall and Zell at dollet and grind seifer at the bridge to mid 60's. Ifrit/Quets and Shiva will learn all their moves. Then draw full sets of -aga magic for three party members from the soldiers. Draw siren from boss and make sure you check each boss going forward for high level magic or GFs. Go back to balamb and kill diablos, if you want to get holy early then level to 30 first but its not advised. Holy is easier to get later. If you are having problems with diablos at low level then check spoiler threads as he can be neutered very easily... Get Quistis, Zell and Minimog cards. Mod quistis and zell for mega rewards. Teach and Junction str + 60% on ifrit/shiva/quetz (and use them as your HM slaves for the rest of the game- use amnesia greens to get rid of crap abilities like gf hp, boost and sum mag). Get brothers gf and mod the minotaur (i think) for adamantines to get leonhart late disc 1, can farm grendels in the forest near galbadia garden for the energy crystals or whatever they are called for pulse ammo iirc but be low level
Why get rid of hp boost, boost and summon magic considering they’re just free abilities? Also wdym by ability ups and a cactuar for a second character? Can you get two cactuar gfs in this game. I just started the remastered version not too long ago and i’m right before galbadia garden after the second lacuna sequence
@@haisex3 cactuar card is not a gf card, it is just a boss card so you can get more than one. Plus you can reaquire all cards you moded later on. Spoilers alert on that part.
Amazing!! It actually works!! The toughest grind was getting the cards from Dr.Kadowaki and having to gain AP at the beach when fighting Fastitocalon. Otherwise this was such a straightforward task. Thank you for sharing! 👍🏽
@@DanyalElia you can use the trepe groupie 1 in teh cafeteria. he's much better overall since you can end up with cards to get people's ultimate weapons before finishing disc 1 if you're into that. by the time you get the 80 elnoyle cards, you'll have everything you could ever want including stuff like flare.
You forgot to use card mod in order to kill monsters instead of killing them normally. The lower level you are, the stronger you become against same level monsters. If you wanna level up only do it after you get Cactuar cause then you can get +1 stat boosts for each level. Still even with stat boosts being lower level you are stronger than being level 100, but then at least you can kill anything you want without worrying about accidentally leveling up. To become the most overpowered all you have to do is wait until Squall gets Cactuar, stat boost him to level 100 while keeping the rest of your team at base level (8-13). Keep your party in your team but make sure they're dead cause you don't need them. And now you're level 100 Squall with max boosted stats vs monsters who are around level 40.

This game was super easy. I borrowed it from someone i knew from my church years ago. it was one of the first rpgs i ever played. early on i figured out how u can abuse squalls limit. from then on it was easy wins for me
Been 15 years since I played it, but didn't you need the weapons monthly magazine first before you can upgrade? Or did u only need the mag to know what items you need for the upgrade? Anyway, I'm planning to play the remastered version for old times sake, so I'll keep this in mind. Thanks. 😁
I basically do this on my no level runs but I go do the Dollet exam and get AP with Seifer instead. Also might be asked and answered already but I always thought you had to get a flame sword first *then* a twin blade (punishment etc) otherwise you dont unlock Lionheart finisher when you get that sword?

That the card picking settings will degrade with matches? Now (4/22/22 9:24pm gmt +8): i just finished. Those damn worms are hard to get and very frustrating. Luckily im playing on my phone sooooo, load save load til i found those @%#! 😅 gonna get 100 each for all 3 chars i think. Also discovered theres a chance that the card rule will be set to ONE so i just load the game again and it came back to ALL 😅 THANKS A LOT MAN. Is this via the remastered edition? Been doing this, faced the damn doctor at least 60 times, most of them I have won, there have been a few draws, and only three times have I had to restart because of a loss, but she has yet to have a single iron giant in any of her hands. I never played this game, but everything I read seems to say even on the first disc she used to pl lay it often enough
So I just finished doing this about 10 minutes ago. It WILL take some time. What you need to do, is swap back and forth between the doc, and that dude you got the quistis card from. If you go 5 games against the doc and she doesn't produce any giants, go back to the cafeteria. Same for that guy. Rinse and repeat. Once I got one of them to start pumping out giants though I couldn't get either of them to produce the damn worms. Fair warning, you may have to save the game and reload to unfuck that particular situation... I know I did.
@@coloneltungsten yeah, I had decided to take a break from trying to get the iron Giants, went to the other guy to farm Elnoyle, and he started pumping out the giants haha. Now just farming the Elnoyle to work on Lionheart, and this should speed the rest of the steps for that after however long these cards take to farm haha
Hello! Im in trouble ps1 game version on ps3 - step 7 just not giving me all rule for card game. Tried like 200 times but still nothing got only - one, direct, tiff and no all rule. Can i skip 7 step and try without all rule?
Use the "Diff" rule then. It stands for difference, and uses the point number that you win (or lose), to determine how many cards will be traded. You can win or lose by a minimum of two points, so as long as you win each match, you'll always get to choose two of your opponent's cards. You can only win the five cards the opponent fields for each match, so if you can consistently win by more than 4 points, "Diff" will act identical to "All" and automatically award you the entire deck of your opponent. You can still farm cards for this video's main purpose even just using the "One" rule. It will just take longer.
You need good cards to win the card game. Where did you get the good cards? Does this guide require you to go to the 2nd continent (the town after the train ride)?
Grind out the card ability at the beach and use it on the Caterpillar enemies, and the grats in the training center to get some boss cards (semi rare drop), those plus ifrit card should be enough to get quistis card, seifer and mini mog, then just grind at triple triad till you have all the elnoyole cards you need for squall's ultimate weapon. If you have time, could grind out for the other characters' ultimate weapons too.
@@joevanno4323 just what I was going to say. You should be carding enemies anyway to keep your level low, and they occasionally card into something rare and quite good at this point in the game.
Card Bombs at fire cavern. Fight benchguy outside library for good level3 corner cards like abyss worm, forbidden, armadodo. Fight gate guy or trepies for malboro, biggswedge, elnoyle, tonberryking. Your deck is ready.
Veteren fans were dissapointed in the remastered “world” on how it looks. It actually made it uglier... even the songs were remastered and a LOT of the songs were drastically different that it help no nostalgia value. SE left the background and songs alone, while bidding up character looks.

Or learn Enc. None from GF Diablos (once Enc. Half learned) No more random encounters. To get Diablos, after you're given mission to assist Timber by Headmaster Cid, talk to him once more so he'll give Magical Lamp item. Use that item to battle Diablos and he's yours if you win!
Funny enough I was the opposite. Played this back in the day, learned nothing, didn't even know you could draw gfs from bosses, made it through disk 2 with Shiva, ifrit, and quezacotl only haha. Couldn't beat fujin and raijin. I thought the game was just hard. Turned out I was an idiot. To be fair I was 10 years old.
You don't even need to go as far as what this video shows. Literally just draw 100 fires from one of the fireballs next to balamb garden and junction them to your str junction. Keep squall life bar on yellow with initiative and literally you'll obliterate most monsters/bosses until you progress much further
@Vegesther no it's possible to get them before mobile garden. I always power leveled against T Rexaurs when you were still adrift just before FH using Death on st atk.
you can but I prefer to DRAW death magic not mod Tonberry/Tonberry king cards to death spell is NOT drawable on disc 1 at all. But luckily DOOM DOES work on the T rex's for when you can't use Degenerator and Rapture the instant kill limits of Quistis and Selphie respectively.

I think the guy who is of Quistis unofficial fans club (The Trepies #3) uses Iron Giant the most in this early-game period the guy who sits at the back in the cafeteria (he is daydreaming about Quistis all the time and also holds Quistis rare card)
Character levels isn't that important in this game as the enemies would scale with you anyway. What's important is your gear, limits, junction abilities and masteries.
in a way character levels are important since there are abilities that gives you bonuses to stats when you level up. I would argue that junctions are the most important.
@@Morphineck ya thinking on it, the characters look the same and that was definitely buffed so no, I'm wrong. Guy just picked a hell of a time to upload it.
Everything went fine till I got to the queen. She's not giving me any option to challenge just talkin about card rules. Assuming there's something else I need to do but it's not in your directions.
The no level up challenge was the best, until you get all the GF, The easy method to OP all character after you get all GF, and best method to leveling up the GF is in dollet once you gain control to sefier, give all GF to seifer and kill squall and zell, for them to not gaining exp. Then in disc 3 once you have edea, gave all GF to edea, then kill squall and the 3rd party option. The no level up challenge was very easy awesome.
Patience and a lot of card playing lol. I was level 19, disc one and already had squalls ultimate weapon (Lionheart) from playing cards and using the card mod ability. It takes time though.
They are saying you don't need the magazines, you only need the items required to upgrade. Seems strange but it's true. Otherwise it would be impossible as you get higher level magazines much later in the game.
I don't know what method you used but I tried this when you get done grinding on the beach and get Quiz to learn card/card-mod and you go to balam city and talk to the queen of cards she asks for 30,000 gil to change the rules for the region, but you can't get gil until after you pass the Seed exam and become a seed member and get your Seed ranking I got a level 8 and was getting 6000 gil which takes a bit to collect just grinding and morphing monsters into cards! And even then when I paid the 30000 gil I still couldn't challenge her so how do you go about challenging her? Because after you become seed you meet Rinoa at the celebration and then you go with quistis to training center then you get your first seed mission! So this method does not work!
@@amyjamie8757 yes for caracters using a gunblade, you get an automatic crit when you press the trigger (same as squall's limit trigger button) right when they strike.
omg... i will see many here who wont be able to reach the max stats possible cuz you making your characters too strong. every level is important cuz of the STR Up ability from Ifrit and other stuff from other GFs. 256 is the max number you’d want so that you’ll rain 9999 damage. Reference: I played this game from its PSX days.
255 bro is max You can get MAG, VIT, SPR, up. Going low-level and then junctioning these will boost stats naturally and then grind the money glitch for Max stats without junctioning any magics. That's true power.

You don't need the magazine to upgrade the weapon, just collect all required items for upgrade :)
The mags are only there to remind you what to collect i guess.

you can also play with the old man keeping the entrance of Balamb Garden he has really powerful card, don't remember if level 6 or 5 cards.

Same. I guess you have to buy back the open rule from the queen for 30k....sucks.
The guy at the dock uses his own rules, he is only ever good if you needed to reset rules that have spread in balamb, like random or same/plus/wall

Nope, just quit dialogue as soon as the "All" option appears and nearly every card challenge after that will have the "All" trading rule.
So if you want to stay overpowered, it means you need to run away from every random encounter right?
well if you only want to beat the game story then yes.
but if you want to defeat ultima or omega weapon, you need to level up and boost your stats.

To get Diablos, after you're given mission to assist Timber by Headmaster Cid, talk to him once more so he'll give Magical Lamp item. Use that item to battle Diablos and he's yours if you win!

I beat this game over 20 times back in 2000 and learned almost everything about this game.
Funny enough I was the opposite. Played this back in the day, learned nothing, didn't even know you could draw gfs from bosses, made it through disk 2 with Shiva, ifrit, and quezacotl only haha. Couldn't beat fujin and raijin. I thought the game was just hard. Turned out I was an idiot. To be fair I was 10 years old.

Literally just draw 100 fires from one of the fireballs next to balamb garden and junction them to your str junction.
Keep squall life bar on yellow with initiative and literally you'll obliterate most monsters/bosses until you progress much further

Another way is to draw 100 deaths and put them on status attack. Then you can one punch the Rexaurs.
@Vegesther no it's possible to get them before mobile garden. I always power leveled against T Rexaurs when you were still adrift just before FH using Death on st atk.
you can but I prefer to DRAW death magic not mod Tonberry/Tonberry king cards to death spell is NOT drawable on disc 1 at all.
But luckily DOOM DOES work on the T rex's for when you can't use Degenerator and Rapture the instant kill limits of Quistis and Selphie respectively.
There's no need to use the computer to get the gfs. You get them at the gates before leaving for infrit.
I farm grats to get shumi card so I can have card on Shiva ifrit also
After awhile I just farm t-rex and grats
My advice is that you play the game normal , enjoy it, and then play this type of game overpower, no level, no junction , only magic, etc..

Character levels isn't that important in this game as the enemies would scale with you anyway. What's important is your gear, limits, junction abilities and masteries.
in a way character levels are important since there are abilities that gives you bonuses to stats when you level up. I would argue that junctions are the most important.

The no level up challenge was the best, until you get all the GF,
The easy method to OP all character after you get all GF, and best method to leveling up the GF is in dollet once you gain control to sefier, give all GF to seifer and kill squall and zell, for them to not gaining exp.
Then in disc 3 once you have edea, gave all GF to edea, then kill squall and the 3rd party option.
The no level up challenge was very easy awesome.

I was level 19, disc one and already had squalls ultimate weapon (Lionheart) from playing cards and using the card mod ability. It takes time though.
They are saying you don't need the magazines, you only need the items required to upgrade. Seems strange but it's true. Otherwise it would be impossible as you get higher level magazines much later in the game.

You already fucked up by not carding and farming the fish. You shouldn’t level squall like at alllll until you get ifrit with str bonus
I don't know what method you used but I tried this when you get done grinding on the beach and get Quiz to learn card/card-mod and you go to balam city and talk to the queen of cards she asks for 30,000 gil to change the rules for the region, but you can't get gil until after you pass the Seed exam and become a seed member and get your Seed ranking I got a level 8 and was getting 6000 gil which takes a bit to collect just grinding and morphing monsters into cards! And even then when I paid the 30000 gil I still couldn't challenge her so how do you go about challenging her? Because after you become seed you meet Rinoa at the celebration and then you go with quistis to training center then you get your first seed mission! So this method does not work!
You press whatever button that challenges to play card, not the talk button (ie, press square i stead of cross on the controller).

Like the trigger will increase your dmg from 1 to 4k

@@amyjamie8757 yes for caracters using a gunblade, you get an automatic crit when you press the trigger (same as squall's limit trigger button) right when they strike.

omg... i will see many here who wont be able to reach the max stats possible cuz you making your characters too strong. every level is important cuz of the STR Up ability from Ifrit and other stuff from other GFs. 256 is the max number you’d want so that you’ll rain 9999 damage. Reference: I played this game from its PSX days.

You can get MAG, VIT, SPR, up.
Going low-level and then junctioning these will boost stats naturally and then grind the money glitch for Max stats without junctioning any magics. That's true power.
his guides on other things are good but its this one I really disagree to. SE didnt change the mechanic on how stats go up in the game. didnt he wonder why when he fights bosses they dont give exp? thats all.

Diff is far better and safer, then the All trade rule. As all degrades into direct, while Diff degrades down to single.
