First off, THANK YOU for this video. It's incredibly helpful, as I have yet to find a video on how to set up a feed-only PMax asset group. Second, to those struggling with implementing this. With some accounts, you CAN duplicate an asset group and trim out the parts not used by Smart Shopping. On other accounts, you have to create a new asset group entirely from scratch and then only put in the assets listed in this video. It's completely random.
Hi Scott, I did as you say, it works well in the first three days, but the campaign get bulk of engagements instead of clicks 4 days later. My website get half of traffic as the first three days and the cpc is twice of the first three days.

Hey! It is still worth testing, however in 2024, I'm not sold that even if you disable Google from using assets from the landing page - that they won't go ahead and show them anyway. As for the benefit over standard shopping, simpler setup / less work in the future.

A few years ago my Standard Shopping Campaign used to bring in a good ROAS, but then I switched over to Pmax Campaigns about a year ago and it has sabotaged my budget (paying more than ever!), while bringing in a much lower ROAS. When I tried to go back to Standard Shopping it won’t get conversions anymore. I can’t figure it out. Can you offer any help in this area?
Hi Scott, great video! Thank you.. My ads started performing terribly even since I converted them from smart shopping to Pmax, and they've been loosing money. Would you delete the new campaign and create a new smart shopping campaign from scratch? or use your method to make a pmax campaign act like a smart shopping campaign?
Thanks for watching! With Smart Shopping being deprecated, your options are PMAX or Standard Shopping. If it were me, I'd investigate why PMAX is underperforming.

Created a feed only asset group but the icons for GMAIL, & Discovery still showing. When I click on add preview it shows the product and just says Headline 1, Headling 2. Any Advice on this?
Can I create one standard shopping campaign and another performance max campaign with same audience and locations? Will these campaigns compete against each other?
I was able to run PMax without logo assets provided. Is it better to keep like this, in an attempt to narrow down, or am I missing out more for not showing the logo?
Hey Allan - just like in Smart Shopping, Google can use the logo in a dynamic product remarketing ad that shows on the display network (ads that show a handful of products customers looked at). It isn't a huge % of the PMAX clicks though.

Doesn't work. Starting Perf Max campaign from scratch and on the summary page when making this it says: Assets: Multiple asset group issues. Fix it. You cannot move on from this page at all until you upload what it requires. Sad.
So after some testing I can confirm that this indeed does work but you CANNOT add logos under your assets. Assets need to be completely blank for this to work or else Google will prevent you from moving on when you are on the Summary page stating "Fix it" (referring to errors in your assets). This is because the logos you upload are trying to attach themselves to other assets (pictures/videos/headlines, etc.). The logos that the Smart Shopping side of Perf Max will use pull in the logos that you uploaded into your Merchant Center anyways so you do not need to upload these. TLDR: Simply go through the stages in this video without uploading logos and it works. If you try to use logos it will not work as Google needs other assets to attach logos to.

Hey Jake! Sorry you're having issues setting it up. I can confirm it still works, just launched another one. You can also go into the 'listing group' for one previously set up to confirm it is receiving clicks and impressions. To successfully create an asset-less asset group, you need to create the asset group from scratch (outlined in this video). When I tried to duplicate an asset group, and then remove its assets, I got similar results to you. It looks like Google's caught on to this trick already. Executed something similar a few weeks ago with no issue. Just tried to do it again in another account and it won't let me save without adding 3 headlines, a short description, a long description and two photos. I sad.
Still working on my accounts! Did you start an asset group from scratch or did you duplicate? When you duplicate an asset group, you are unable to save without adding assets.

I went into a different account and tried to edit an asset group and remove all the text/images. It wouldn't let me save. So I created a new asset group, and it still wouldn't let me save. So I tried creating a new campaign, and sadly still could not save. It must be one of those bandaids rolling out or maybe some accounts are just lucky. I have a few more I'll try your advice on tomorrow. It was a great video. Thanks for sharing!

I think that method will reduce the score of the ads and that's why each click may cost us more.

Hey there! Takes a few days to ramp up but if you start with a Target CPA or ROAS that isn't achievable, spend will be throttled.

If you click the preview and that is all you see, you're set!

Hi Scott, I tried saving the asset group but it won't let me do it. It keeps saying that it needs at least an image and headline.
