I feel like a lot of people didn't notice that people on stage 1 of the infection can be heard crying in anguish and sometimes even saying things like "no" or "oh my God" when doing stuff like eating a body.

Can we talk about how terrifying the time period would be when Almost all of the infected where stalkers. Just a few months of seemingly quiet, empty streets. Constantly having to double and triple check every room before you leave it, needing a mirror to check round every corner to make sure you won't get bitten if you walk through the doorway too hastily. This time, probably more than when the clickers first showed up. Is where most of the seasoned survivors got killed off.
Definitely,at first people will think stalkers are rare and advanced versions of normal runners and then they all evolve into stalkers and everyone is in dissaray,after a year of everyone getting used to it they start getting chased again by armored horrific things which Definitely killed off a lot of people,not to mention bloaters they just keep coming and more difficult to deal with many probably committed suicide
stalkers are too OP. i think id rather be in a big room with a bloater, with a flamethrower, and suppressed gun, than a room with 10 stalkers and all the weapons i need… debatably

Playing last of us grounded mode actually made me realise it's most difficult to survive Zombie apocalypse. It pushed me to focus only on survival rather than enjoying story which I already did in less difficulty.
The thing that wasn't cool was not showing your health indicator
like surely IRL you'd know if you're hurt or not 😭
Because few hit from enemy almost instantly kill you, and I think even in reality if you got 2 shot by pistol you probably ended up dead (seriously I once got shot by pistol and it hurt like hell)

The way the characters in the games always conveniently see the spores with enough time to get their masks on before approaching the area makes me think most people would get infected by inhaling those before they even realize.

The scary thing about The Last of Us is that its the most realistic zombie apocalypse scenario
Expect for the broken stealth physics and AI when your companions will just run straight through enemies lines of sight and still not get spotted 😂 that would be a useful ability to have in that scenario 🤔

The most plausible way to survive in The Last of Us world would require that you are proficient in using guns, have a tough endurance, and you work with other people. In each Last of Us game, the player characters are always having each other's back, plus in the case of people living in Jackson, they are perfectly fine since they have people move in shifts to get rid of nearby infected.
Fun Theory: Ellie isn’t immune. she just has a different type of cordyceps that isn’t deadly. the way this variant of cordyceps work is by lowering you WBC (white blood cells) and other things that work against viruses/infections so the reason Ellie doesn’t get infected is bc the fungus she has kills all other fungi that could be a potential danger to it. (aka the zombie strain of cordyceps) we know Ellie has low WBC levels and low levels of other bodily defense mechanisms bc in the Last if us two you find all of her medical papers from when the fireflies tried to make a vaccine. Now i forgot what the scientific names and types of the cordycep are and didn’t do the research myself, but i think it’s very possible bc both of these are real life cordyceps but mutated to have effect on humans and not just insects and arachnids. if you need more info look up “why ellie isn’t immune game theory” game theory is the channel the video is on and it’s very interesting. so are his other videos if your into hypothetical game situations/theory’s like i do

In this case it would be even better for survivors, if they can find that strand of cordyceps they could infect themselves wth it to become symbiotic and protect themselves.
Interesting that Joel wasn't infected if the fungus spread largely through coffee and chocolate exports. I do distinctly remember him saying "I miss coffee" at one point in the game.
Doubt that coffee beans or cacao beans spread the fungus at all, since noone eats them raw. They tend to be boiled, roasted, fermented and all that, the fungus wouldn't survive the process.

Especially the museum part around the beginning of the game. You don’t really have as much stuff as you do around the end so you had to sneak by them. Really spooky stuff.

It’s more scary to try and get around runners or humans because they can see you, when you can merely walk right past a clicker and be ok as long as you’re quiet
Even if you were immune to the infection, I feel like walking around without a gas mask in a room you can't even really see through because it's completely filled with spores, would still be VERY unhealthy to you.
I think the most disturbing part about the infected in the game is sometimes when fighting runners, they'll get stunned or stumbled back and say things. I've heard "stop, please," "no, don't" and things like that. in the runner stage, the person is still sometimes in control. really messed up, definitely adds a level of fear and/or empathy to the game.
I could survive it, just depends how strong the plot armor is. Hell I made it only 5 episodes until I ran out of plot armor.

At the part where Joel has to turn on the generator in the hotel to unlock the door, there was a stalker stalking me and I had no idea until I turned around and just happened to catch a glimpse of it running away when I saw it. Scariest thing that happened to me in the game.

Honestly I feel like most of us (assuming we survive the food thing and initial outbreak) would be killed by other survivors. They’re absolutely brutal in TLOU and will go ham on pretty much anyone outside of their group immediately. I think that might be the most realistic part. People won’t really just walk up to you with their gun pointed and question you. Most of the time they’ll just shoot you in the head, take your shit, and move on

Those came from animals and yet somehow some way we can get sick from that to. The fungi is the same way. Animals are the bridge between plant and human. If the cordyceps effects animals it becomes a ROLL OF THE DICE if humans will be effected or not. If we do then welcome to the last of us.
But I honesty doubt it will end up like the game tho. We will probably end up doing what the ants do when they get infected by the fungus. So there it is.

I feel like the number one thing to kill you in The Last of Us apocalypse would be other people not the runners,clickers, or bloaters. In the game the main thing that antagonizes Joel and Ellie are the military and other survivers. It would make sense since desperate people do desperate things. Lack of food and supplies would make people go nuts so if you are lucky enough to find some you'll be hunted down for it.
That's why joining the military would be the best way to survive. Yea you'll have to fight but at least you have protection in the force

Stealth is so anxiety-filled when you run into a crap ton of them, I hated getting caught and having to use up precious ammo to take'em down or destroying favored melee weapons fighting'em.
I’ve got a theory that the reason Ellie is immune is because she was born after the apocalypse and her mom had slight exposure to spores before Ellie was born.

kinda crazy that it’s been found it don’t take over the brain but instead control the muscles of the host, so if it was to happen you’d be alive and conscious for all of it…
At the start, it would be luck of the draw. But afterwards, get to a QZ that doesn't get abandoned (such as the Boston one in the first game), work, stay inside the city limits of the QZ, limit contact with others, definitely be able to survive under a harsh military regime.

I played this game way to young and used to be scared of a zombie apocalypse happening to I made my family watch stuff like stuff so we could be prepared 😭
After watching the last of us tv show then watching this video I realize that in the first episode ( minor spoilers ahead) Joel and his daughter coincidentally avoid eating coffee cookies and anything with yeast like bread. The coffee machine wasn’t working so they didn’t have coffee. They ran out of pancakes, the neighbour made cookies but it was raisin so Sarah didn’t want them. And Joel was on Atkins which is a diet that would require him to not eat bread or very little. I thought that was a really good detail added in by the writers.
Honestly the Last Of Us is the most realistic depiction of a " zombie " apocalypse, plus with a real fungis that exist, its kinda scary to see an idea of what might happen if this fungis evolved towards humans

@Tynox 01 It doesn't have to be intelligent, though. It's not so much controlling them as it is causing changes in their behavior. The way I see it, the fungus is producing some kind of psychotropic chemical in the brain which alters the host's behavior. Either that, or the fungus is messing the person's brain up as it grows on (or into) it, which again, could cause changes in behavior.

This is one of the few zombie apocalypse scenarios I believe since the infection is a fungus rather than a virus, and has multiple means of infecting rather than just bites and numbers, it had those but can also be airborne, which an immediate danger for the early weeks of it

I think this one is manageable as long as you live in a really small population place. Where I live the closest house is a decent ways away from mine, so I would have a good headstart and plenty of farming neighbors that we can probably build some sort of thing for us all out here.
Coffee beans are roasted at 180° C for several minutes - at that temperature, all spores/bacteria are thoroughly killed off.

I’ve actually thought about this at work before when deciding how I’d attack a zombie bare handed and it’d seem that putting my fist or my leg or my foot anywhere near its face would be a pretty stupid idea. Then it occurred to me that getting in grabbing range period would be pretty idiotic considering battering up a zombie would do almost nothing since they can’t feel pain and you’ll just be tiring yourself out and less you just start stomping the shit out of their head (again putting your legs and feet at risk to get bitten). I’d say the best point of attack is to chop them down with a hard kick to the legs right around the back of the knee or the calf area so hard that they fall to the floor so you can run away or to front kick them in the chest to keep them from getting closer

Even if the virus connected the cordyceps fungus to humans (and that is a possibility with CRISPR), most of the infected would die in a few weeks or months at best, because they could not drink or feed. Once the fungus takes control of an ant or a caterpillar, it starves to death, as all the nutrients are funnelled to the fungus. Just two days without water, and most of the infected would fall into a coma and die on the third or fourth day. But TLOU is a fun nightmare ride, after all that.
